Context. I am an accountant. I am pretty mild mannered. I am not someone who regularly argues with anyone. I can't remember the last time I have had to leave a store like i did here. This place is run by a guy who apparently likes to argue. I have no time or patience for this. I just wanted to drop off 2 pairs of shoes for a shine When I walked in he was giving some sort of grief to the zipper repair guy. He makes me wait. Then instead of returning my greeting the guy grunts and asks what I want. I should have walked out then. He looks at my shoes notices the things I knew anyone would notice upon close inspection - you need a new heel, etc. But nothing that couldn't wait. Its not like I had a hole in my shoe. I told him he was right but I was on a tight timeline and needed to get them cleaned and then fixed when I returned from a trip (I was heading out of town). He pushes back somewhat chastising me for the poor shape of the shoes ('these shoes are $X new - do you have any idea....??and quot;). Then he pushes back on my schedule - and quot;well when are you leaving?and quot;. I tell him I would need them done in 4 hours (which is ridiculous and I would never ask him to repair them that fast) and he then proceeds to take offense that I would ask him to fix them that fast. He looks at me and proclaims and quot; I will never do it!!and quot; He is a little angry now. Holy cow. Get me out of here. I feel like I am arguing with a drunk uncle or something. SO what do I do? Instead of leaving like any sane person might do at this point - I ask him how much the shine is. He says $10 per pair but it is apparent he thinks he is doing me a favor at this point even still talking to me. And I am a little desperate since I am heading out of town. Still I balk. I am wondering why it is only $5 in the city - so I ask him what the $10 gets me - Oh boy. Should have left sooner. He starts down some line of and quot; I know what they needand quot; and quot; $10 is what they needand quot; WHich I totally respect. I would have paid the guy $15 if he would have simply been a better/nicer guy to deal with. Then he starts saying that I am telling him how to run his business. So I cut him off and took my shoes around the corner to another guy I have never worked with but seemed very nice for $8.50 per pair. I could care less about the price difference. He practically chased me out of the door. It was a rare and special experience that I would not recommend to anyone. Life is too short to deal with guys like Dymitrios. I would suggest you go to Johns around the corner. We parted by calling each other rude. Weird.

It looks like new. He has also resoled dress shoes for both of us several times in the past. He also sells new European brand shoes.
