We couldn't be happier. The basement looks fantastic and all of the work was completed in a timely manner. The costs were totally explained and changes were not made unless completely explained to us and approved before hand (moving of some duct work was added later.) Weise Construction did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone.

It was a several months job. My experience with them was fantastic. I would definitely like to use them again. Their company is extremely flexible and they do a great job, and can handle situations as they occur.

Dave is wonderful. The quality of his work is great and those that he hires to help him have all been wonderful as well. While he charged us slightly more than others had quoted, workign with him was worth the cost. We trust him 100% to do the job right and get it done on time. He is always reachable and works diligently to meet expectations. On a personal note, we just really liked him as a person. Our daughter loves him and pretends to call him on her play phone. He is wonderful with her and we trust him 110% with a key to our home.

This company was absolutely fantastic to work with overall! Dave is very flexible, very dependable, and gets the job done when he says he will. I'm from out of town, and he basically took over the general contracting job and took care of everything without me having to check up on him. He was a joy to work with!

Dave found the raccoon fairly quickly. We couldn't find an entry. Plus the raccoon was 'very dead' so it may have been there since the previous owner owned the house. The replacement of the insulation, ceiling drywall, mudding, and painting went well.

He was confident, and responsible. He followed our requests and suggestions. He had good over site over the subcontractors. The job was done right, and we're happy with it.

We met Dave when he was subcontracted during our kitchen remodeling renovation. He was very thorough and found many major mistakes that were made by former builders. He always brought these to our attention and fixed them. He is a very conscientious worker, always explaining his work in detail, and is very courteous and flexible. When we spoke with Dave about remodeling our laundry room to use the space more efficiently, he came up with some great innovative ideas which addressed the problems we were having. If he couldn't find a product that we needed, then he built one himself, and did a beautiful job. He built a wall next to our sink that allowed us to hang pants and installed a drying rack above it to hang shirts. He even stained this wall to match our existing old kitchen cabinets that he installed. We love our laundry room now. It's a better use of space and so much more functional! Dave is great at remodeling and we will definitely use him in the future!

We are extremely happy with the quality of construction of our finished basement, particularly the forethought that went into the wiring and outlet positions and the framing of walls and doorways to work around the basement duct and pipe work. Dave was detail-oriented and always looked for opportunities to provide functional enhancements without blowing the budget. For example, although it was not in the original plans, he installed budget, switched lighting in the wiring closet and unfinished part of the basement. Dave communicated well and was always prompt (and his subcontractors were for the most part, too). The basement was completed in a reasonable 12 week time frame, and the final cost was close to the original estimate. Dave is cognizant of a household with young children and made sure that he and his subcontractors isolated any construction mess to the basement. He also regularly cleaned-up as he ended the day. Most impressive was Dave's high sense of customer service. When it appeared that rain water may be leaking through one of his installed windows, he showed up within hours, diagnosed the problem as a busted garden spigot supply line (no fault of the window), promptly fixed the pipe, and arranged for patching the drywall at a later date. Overall, Weise Construction provided an immense value: high quality work at a reasonable price.

The whole project went very smoothly. Dave returned my initial call to him within 24 hours, came to price the job within the next few days. Upon receipt of the bid, we set a time line for the project. They came on the exact day they said they would, always were professional and neat. Dave was flexible with our needs as well. We did ask for changes in paint colors at the very last minute and they accommodated. This was the best painting experience for us.

Very clean and orderly. Rooms were clean and clear every night. Supplies were stored out of the way. They were able to accommodate patching repairs for window treatments that we took down the night before a room was to be painted, and sometimes, after painting had begun.

We are very pleased with the result. We had purchased highly insulated sliding glass doors from a company, but before they were installed, the initial concrete was poured and leveled, the new doors then were installed, and after the concrete dried (only a few days, but the subcontractor's schedule took somewhat longer), the pipes were fastened into the concrete, the second layer of concrete was colored, poured and then stamped to resemble slate. The same pattern was extended onto the patio beyond the sun room-beautiful! The new enclosed sun room is weather-tight, but it took several months later for the hot water heater supplying the pipes with water to be installed, and the subcontractor had to return several times to adjust the valves to produce adequate heat. Dave installed new baseboards for the finishing touch. We have a fabulous, toasty sun room we'll be able to use throughout the winter now. Dave was great to work with, and we'll continue doing more projects with him.

Prior to job, it was agreed what was to be done. It was clear that I had high standards. Dave is Owner. Steve is Painter. Steve patched holes from electrical and painting defects in the library. He fixed every flaw and I approved of the work, setting a baseline of acceptability for the job. He painted library in a dark color. After 5 COATS OF PAINT, it was still uneven. Why? BECAUSE they don't believe in priming! Huh? I learned from instructions on paint can that you ALWAYS prime. But, they re the experts, so I believe them. They blamed the "dark color, but I demanded primer after light colors in other rooms also looked bad. Then Dave came to help out. Every defect that existed was just painted over, unlike library. Sloppy 3 wide cut-ins. Dave s a carpenter, not a painter. It s unacceptable to pay a professional to do a job that I can do with a group of friends. Fired them. Agreed on lesser amount. Found someone new to fix and repair their work resulting in $8500 job.
Response from WEISE CONSTRUCTION
"THE MEMBER FIRED ME FROM THE JOB AND DID NOT PAY ME $1800.00 FOR WORK THAT WAS COMPLETED. THE MEMBER HIRED ME TO PAINT HIS WALLS, NOT REPAIR HIS DRYWALL. ALTHOUGH MY PRICING INCLUDES GENERAL REPAIRS TO THE DRYWALL, HIS WALLS WERE COVERED WITH IMPERFECTIONS, DENTS, PAINT LINES, BAD TAPE JOBS AND CORNER BEADS FROM CONSTRUCTION AND THE WALLS WERE TOTALLY UNCARED FOR. THE DESIGNER THAT REFERRED ME TO THE MEMBER WENT TO THE SITE TWICE AND WALKED THROUGH EACH ROOM WITH US. SHE POINTED OUT ANY AREAS THAT DID NOT MEET HER EXPECTATIONS AND I AGREED TO FIX THEM. THE MEMBER, HOWEVER, HAD OVER 200 LITTLE PIECES OF BLUE TAPE ON HIS WALLS, ALL THE LOCATIONS WHERE HE FOUND A LITTLE IMPERFECTION. IT IS DRYWALL, IT IS NOT PERFECT, IT WAS PAINTED IN FLAT PAINT AND LEFT ALONE FOR 10 YEARS. IT WAS NOT IN GOOD CONDITION AND I DID THE BEST I COULD TO GIVE HIM A QUALITY JOB THAT WAS DESCRIBED AND PRICED IN MY CONTRACT. WHILE ON THE JOB, THE MEMBER HAD ISSUES WITH 2 OTHER TRADES BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T MEET HIS NEEDS. I TRIED TO WORK WITH THE MEMBER BUT HE WAS UNWILLING TO WORK WITH ME. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THIS SITUATION TURNED OUT THE WAY IT DID. I TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN MY WORK AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS KIND OF REACTION FROM ANY PREVIOUS CLIENTS."

Weise Construction built out my basement with expert craftsmanship, was on-time and on-budget, and went beyond our expectations in the net result of this project. Dave communicates often, listens, and has an eye for detail. There were a few nice touches that were added in for no cost (e.g. adding a switch and fluorescent fixture in a closet instead of a pull-chain bulb) and he gave us a lot of good ideas throughout the process. He cleaned up after each day and made little impact on our lives when he was working in the house. Finally, and most importantly, he does great work, using good materials and flawlessly putting it all together (we breezed through all of our inspections). Because of Dave's efforts, our basement is now a seamless extension of our home and our favorite room to spend time in. Based on my experience with such a large project, I would strongly recommend Dave to anyone who is looking to renovate their home.
