Expect to spend some time to learn about such an important buying decision. The showroom is an excellent place to start as you can see and touch all of the alternatives when replacing your front entryway. One unexpected surprise was that we found that by putting longer length glass panels in the front door actually better matched the original home design.

Rusco replaced one of the windows in my kitchen. They removed the old window and trim, replaced the window with a new one and retrimmed it inside and outside. The work was done quickly and professionally and the workman cleaned up the area well when he was done. I was very satisfied with the service, and in fact the result was far better than I expected. I am very happy with Rusco and would use them again.

Rusco is a third-generation, family-owned business that provides high-quality, professional service. This company truly cares about its customers. After a dismal experience with another contractor, Rusco stepped in to remedy the situation. (We know most contractors really hate having to come in and re-do someone else's bad work, but they took on the challenge.) Paul came to our house to re-measure, discuss with us our options and make sure we were getting the door and features we wanted. What a sweetheart. A couple of weeks later, Andy came out to install the new door. He is an amazing craftsman and a perfectionist! (And maybe part magician, too. He certainly worked magic for us.) Our new door is beautiful, and it fits as though it was built just for our house. We can't say enough great things about this company. I hope I have the opportunity to work with them again. (Note the $200 cost is for the installation only.)

Estimates were early September.  Was referred to Tom by my brother.  Tom came out and looked at what we wanted done.  Received the estimate about a week or so later.  Then  Andy came out to measure the windows.  We waited about 5 weeks for the windows to come in. The called on Saturday and wanted to install on Monday.  Installation went great.  We had casement windows and awning windows being replaced. They arrived promptly at 8:30 and were done just before 1:00.  Clean up was good as well.  No issues.

We discovered the sliding door was not installed properly after purchasing our home. The door was installed out of plumb resulting in 3/8" gap at the entry door jam that we had to block with weather stripping. Over the years the door became more difficult to slide. Recently the door came off the track and I took the door off to get the rollers back on the base rail but the original installer did not allow for enough clearance to get the door header piece back in place. Not good! I called Rusco and they were very cooperative and attempted to give me instructions to install the door even though they did not do the original install. After this was unsuccessful, Andy stopped by for a service call and recommended that the door be removed and re-installed properly to correct all the problems, I agreed and one week later the door was removed an re-installed and works great! The installer (Andy #2) was professional and courteous.

Sales person was an hour late and seemed rushed.  I felt the estimate was high.  No work performed--decided to choose another company.

They replaced a very old, very-poorly-insulated 8-foot sliding glass
door in our bedroom with a new one. Wally and his colleague arrived on
time, worked very efficiently, cleaned up, finished at the time foreseen,
and the door is fantastic. I would definitely use them again.

We were very happy with finished product and look;  salesman and installers were all courteous and professional.
Excellent clean up afterwards.  Only problem was that I was quoted installation within 4 weeks and it took
4.5 weeks;  normally, this would not be a big deal but we had a painter painting the interior of the house
and he had to wait a day to finish.  In the end, it all worked out and would definitely use them again, as our
older windows begin to wear out.

Overall, we were pleased with the quality of the window, as well as the craftsmen who came to do the install. Our only complaint is the time between having the window delivered and installed. It took about a month to get the install date for the window and several calls with no answer back. With our window sitting in our garage so long, it was unsettling. The craftsman did such a great job matching the woodwork, we are extremely happy with the results. I would hope that we would not have the same 'waiting game' experience, should we use them again.

They were very local to me like half a mile away. The price really turned me off, I thought it was too high. They were very helpful, very attentive and very knowledgeable. They were great but the price was high. I bought doors online myself and did all the ordering of what we wanted and had them pre-finished. I hired a trim carpenter to install them and that was significantly less expensive. I left that do it myself was good. These were solid wood and they were going to do the finishing on side of my garage which was very expensive. By the time I added everything installing, finishing and doing the casing. Each door was going to cost $800. The doors were not special size but just panel doors. So I ended up getting quality doors and a little bit better design. I installed it for half of the price what they were offering for a door. It was not worth to me.

They did start the jobs on schedule  and both times they were very professional and completed the work in the projected time frame.
the workmanship was fine, we did have two minor  problems, one window was supposed to be fitted with frosted glass and wasn't but it was replaced within a week and another window had a cracked section in the glass and that was also resolved quickly.  There was no mess left by their work and the crew was always helpful with any questions I might have.  Overall, I was pleased with the overall workmanship and scheduling of the jobs.

Very informative and professional. I don't know if price was comptitive as I did not get other estimates. The quality of the materials appeared excellent. I did not pursue the project. I only received estimate from Rusco.
Response from RUSCO WINDOWS & DOORS

"A while back we had the chance to meet and discuss the possibility of a professionally installed door for your home. I'm sure you could see the benefits our products offer: no maintenance, beauty, easy cleaning, energy efficient, etc. I'm sure you had a good reason as to why you decided not to go ahead with our proposal at that time. Maybe the timing just wasn't right. We'd like to thank you again for considering Rusco for your home improvement project. Feel free to give us a call at 630-969-6200 if you are still considering your project or if you have any questions."

Tom (one of the owners) was very helpful in suggesting different types of windows that would look good from both the inside and outside.  He explained the options and pros/cons.  The work was done quickly and efficiently.  There was one small mistake with the window hardware, but it was fixed with no trouble.  We are very happy with our new windows!

I spent close to $4,000 on that work. My experience with them was good, except that they made an error, but they corrected it immediately. They put the wrong color storm windows up, but they corrected it immediately and redid the whole job and put the right color up. I would have to say it was a pretty good experience and the price was also good. There was a slight problem with the door and they had to call the manufacturer out to see why the door wasn’t closing right. I have had no problems and have not had to all them for any errors.

Overall, the job went well. The workmen left maybe 20 small aluminum screws in the driveway from their breaking down the old aluminum storm window frames. When the new windows arrived, one had a broken pane of glass and another had see through regular glass instead of the privacy glass which was ordered. Both of the windows were replaced in a reasonable time frame. Aside from these minor items, the overall job performance went very well.

The work looks good, cosmetically. We had problems with one of the windows that they put in. I had talked with the president, on at least two occasions, and I told him what the problem was but he never followed through with anything as far as rectifying the problem was concerned. I wouldn’t use them again.

3/6/2012   The following update entry stems from an e.mail message.  An Angie's List representative asked to confirm that my rating report dated 10/8/2009 pertains to Rusco.  It seems that Rusco denied having us as a client.  I confirmed our contract with Rusco by providing the Angie's List representative with a copy of the contract and the cancelled checks.   Below please find a brief description of our experience with Rusco customer service.  Then review the Provider Response and decide for yourself whether this is a company which you trust to do a quality installation or to address your concerns afterwards.

Rusco had installed basement windows at our residence on 09/14/2005.  One of their promotional tools is the many years of experience with installing products.  On Saturday, March 3, 2007, the Westmont area experienced a heavy rainfall.  At approximately 3:30 p.m., my wife called Rusco and spoke with Linda.  My wife explained to Linda that one of the windows was leaking water into the basement and asked Linda to have someone come out to look at the problem.  Rusco's place of business is less than two(2) miles from our house.  Linda stated that she would page the person that had installed the windows.  My wife impressed upon Linda the seriousness of the leak but could not elicit a genuine concern from her, only the promise of paging the installer.  We did not receive a return call.    The water flow created waterfalls at both lower joints of the inside trim of the window.  Water was actually streaming to within a few inches of the electrical service box inside the house, and was also cascading onto a table, soaking our cleaning and laundry supplies.   The damage caused by this event is not evident because the inside window trim is still intact.  You should know, however, that the insulation around the window has been soaked, thereby compromising the insulating value.  More insidious, however, is the Health hazard due to mold growth and spore formation around the basement window and penetration to the living spaces of the house.     Per telephone conversations with you on 04/05/2006, we told you that a mold remediation specialist gave us instructions to have the trim removed to allow air circulation around the window so it can dry out.  You promised to instruct your installer to return and rectify the problem caused by his team's faulty workmanship.  We have not received a response from him.   Due to these factors I would insist that Rusco replace the window and install it in a manner which will prevent the reoccurrence of these events.
Response from RUSCO WINDOWS & DOORS

They have a showroom in Westmont. Owners helpful and clear on details. I found this better than just having salesman come to the home. Started more or less as scheduled. Entire job took 2 weeks--as predicted. Only a 2 man crew for siding and 1 + person crew for door installation and finishing carpentry for a very large job. However, the siding crew was meticulous: "Tony" and "Tomas." Excellent workmanship, long work days, site clean up every day. Door installer, "Kevin" cared about customer satisfaction and took extra time over the weekend to work on details to his own satisfaction. Compared to other bids, price high, but not out of line with others. Quality of workmanship in this case made the price acceptable.

JOB WAS TO BEGIN IN JULY. WORK ACTUALLY BEGAN IN AUGUST. JOB WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE 3 DAYS, BUT IT ACTUALLY TOOK A MONTH. THE RESULT WAS A VERY GOOD PORCH, BUT THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SALESMAN & TECH WAS VERY POOR. IF I HAD NOT COME HOME TO CHECK ON THEM PERIODICALLY, THE PORCH WOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY.
