Silver Cross Chicago Peter Lamoureux is the owner of Silver Cross Chicago West. Mr Lamoureux was formerly a sales executive in the paper industry. "I was looking for a new challenge and after my wife developed some mobility problems which restricted her access to all areas of our two story home, I started doing research. My wife and I are not unique-- most people want to remain in their own homes and Silver Cross can help you overcome these physical barriers. Silver Cross stood out as the Cadillac of the industry. My whole career has been built on solving client problems while building strong relationships. This ability is very transferable to this industry. After the initial visit I received an email with the price. It was a lot of money but bids from other companies were almost identical. It took awhile for them to start because most stairways need a custom fit requiring time to manufacture the parts. But, when they arrived, it was a quick installation. The installers were professional. I was reassured that and quot;rickety likeand quot; sounds when the moving chair passed over track connections and when it made turns in its climb was normal. ( I guess I agree with this since, some 8 months later, the sounds are still there with no determental affect.) The only complaint I have with the product, and so have many others according to the installer, is that the chair does not always lock in place when you are moving on it so any slight swivel you make while seated on the moving chair stops the chair. You have to be very careful it doesn't swivel while in motion or fuss and jiggle with the chair to lock it in place before you start. A definite, bothersome flaw to the product. After a couple of months it was determined I needed a new safety part. The installer dropped the ball on this. Always do follow-up on such matters with the president Peter Lamoureux. He 'takes care of businessand quot; and makes things happen. I like him a lot.

Given budgetary concerns, we decided to go with a used chair lift versus a new one. However, several estimates were cheaper and had a longer warranty than Mr. Lamoureux's company, Silver Cross Free to Move LLC. Since Mr. Lamoureux was so nice during our initial meeting, I decided to call him and tell him I decided to go with one of his competitors. When I informed him of the decision, he said he would meet his competitors price and longer warranty period if we went with him. I should mention I wasn't looking to get him to come down in his price, or lengthen his previously stated warranty. His offer of meeting his competitor's price and warranty made me decide to use him. He had one of his employees install the chair lift the next week. We did have a minor problem with the chair lift. He sent his employee out to fix the problem. The employee suggested giving us another used chair to replace the one we bought. While I appreciate the willingness of this company to do this, I felt it wasn't necessary for such a minor repair. I would have felt I was taking advantage of the company had I taken advantage of this offer. We have had no problems since the repair. I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again in the future.
