Working with DDM was an absolute pleasure. They were extremely helpful in finding the correct torsion springs for my door, and their video was perfectly detailed and straightforward to follow while installing them. They were even more helpful when FedEx lost my order. FedEx told me to wait to see if it showed up, but I was under a time crunch. I reordered the same parts, prepared to eat the loss. When I contacted DDM after the FedEx "waiting period", they immediately refunded the second order. They will definitely be my go-to place for my garage door needs!

Dan came to our immediate rescue when we found that our automatic garage door spring had snapped, and we had consequently been forced to use our front door to gain access to our house!  :)  Dan identified the problem and fixed it promptly.  He is friendly and efficient, and knows just how to talk to the customer so that they understand what is being done.  I truly found Dan to be a trustworthy individual who has the customer's best interest at heart.  While he could have rigged our system using a oversized spring, instead he made one specifically for our needs.  Although I hope to not have to use him again soon, I won't hesitate to recommed his services to my friends or neighbors in need.   Thanks to Dan and DDM Garage Doors!

Garage door opener failed in the open position.  Called and spoke to Dan to ask about same day service, and was quoted $95 plus parts.  Dan was already on a large commercial job, and while he couldn't come out immediately was willing to come out in the early evening.  He showed up exactly on time and worked for about 90 minutes.  He replaced a broken sprocket, and also lubricated and checked the door stop limits.

Dan came out with samples to take measurements and show us the options. He was very helpful and friendly during this visit, and he promptly prepared a quote afterwards. Dan has quite a vast knowledge of garage doors as is evident on the DDM website.
Once we coordinated an installation date among DDM, myself, and the general contractor, things went smoothly.
The old doors were out and the new door was in in less than a day of work. Matt, the installer, was also very friendly and professional. He put in the extra effort to ensure a good seal on the top of the door while allowing room for the window trim to pass without catching.
5 months later the door still works great and looks great.
I elected to install the new opener myself and they were fine with that, and even installed a manual lock on the door to keep things secure before I had a chance to put the opener in.

Initially very encouraged.  Recommended by friend who used them for a garage door repair.  Left message with company, and call returned quickly.  Appointment scheduled for that very day.  Installer seemed knowledgeable, but he did spend much time on the phone consulting with his boss.  Both springs replaced, although only one was broken.  He suggested several "improvements" that were done for little extra cost, including re-positioning the spring mounting brackets, replacing both cable drums (with used parts), and replacing broken rollers.  Door ran well after repair.

Now the bad news:  several months later door started closing unevenly.  In the closed position, the was a 1-2 inch gap on only the right side.  I decided to work on it myself (not recommended unless you're very handy mechanically - door springs dangerously tight!).  Found that the cable drum on one side had slipped, probably due to the fact that one of the tightening screws was stripped.  This may have been due to careless work or the fact that the parts were used.  Also, one of the lag bolts on the newly mounted spring bracket was too loose, rather scary given the spring pressure they must resist.

Subsequent research has shown I can replace my old wooden door for $1000 - $1500, which is what I'm now planning.  I definitely will use another garage door installer, but I'm now $250 in the hole.

We needed some work done on the garage door of a rental house in Hanover Park and found DDM here on Angie's List. Dan came out right away and was able to fix the problem on the spot. Since this is a house that we don't live in and we were not able to get there, it really helped that he could tell us exactly what needed to be done over the phone and we were able to give him a credit card number for the repairs. I never met him face to face, but I would hire Dan again in a minute!

He did a good job and saved us money by not having to purchase a new door. We will use this company again in the future.
