Great job! Picked up the permit from the city and they performed the work in a timely manner.

It was a tough start. I used the message system on Angie's List but never got a response. I went to their webpage and put in a request there and got a response rather quickly, but the call was basically "We'll have him come out sometime to look at your trees". Then a week went by and nothing. So I used the form on their webpage again to inquire when he might be out. I got another fairly prompt call that had Al out that evening to look at our situation. When he arrived he went right into the backyard to look at the dead tree, thinking we weren't home (even though we communicated that we were going to be home and had questions). We met him when he was going back to his truck and toured the property together. I asked many questions about what types of trees we had, diseases I noticed popping up, and how we should trim back the trees from certain areas. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, and comfortable. He gave us a great estimate with the Angie's Discount and gave us an estimate of 2 weeks, as his mulcher was being repaired. The next week he called that he was in the area and could get the work done. His crew got it done in half a day and cleaned up everything---even branches that I hadn't had time to break down from my own yard work! Very minimal damage to the lawn, which was unavoidable in downing giant trees. I wish they would accept credit cards, but Al promised to hold out check until Friday, payday. He held it an ADDITIONAL week, which wasn't necessary but really nice! Aside from mediocre communication initially our experience was awesome and I will definitely use Al's team in the future for any tree removal/trimming needs and highly recommend them to my community.

Wow. I have never seen so much heavy equipment and so many workers swarming over our yard. Nor have I ever seen such a mess. But in just over 3 hours, all the work was done and the yard was spotless. The owner was there the entire time and checked with me several times to make sure everything was all right. He was great.

Al was great. Very nice and professional, also very responsive via email. He gave us the best of 3 quotes we received, and did an excellent job.

After doing my due diligence by getting multiple quotes I decided to go with Rivas primarily because Al Rivas (owner) did a good job explaining what he was going to do and how exactly he planned on doing it. Let me back up. I just purchased a home and had three issues. I needed a pine tree in my front yard trimmed because some of the branches were hanging over my garage, I needed a large Honey Locus trimmed back because it had branches hanging over my house causing moss to grow on the cedar shake shingles, and I needed a large Oak tree taken down because it was about dead and hanging over a playset. Al showed up with five other guys and completely moved the playset so that it would not get damaged and trimming and removed the Oak tree with minimal damage to my lawn. The main logs they left on my front lawn were picked up within an hour. Overall they did a great job and I would recommend they to others.

They showed up on time,cut and removed all three dead trees in three hours. All remnants of these disintegrating trees were removed, yard was left clean, Rivas is the best tree service I've used in this area...they're knowledgeable about the best sequence in dropping, cutting and removing problem trees.

All the trees in the yard had been marked for removal in order to get a village permit, so when the team arrived at 7:30 in the morning, they went right to work. The first two trees were down and through the chipper by 7:45, and the 20 others came down in short order. Four of the trees were near the house, and I worried needlessly about damage to the roof and house, because they were efficient and knowledgeable about getting them down safely and quickly. The yard was spotless when they finished, and all stumps in the yard were ground to below grade level. Those in the woods were cut flush with grade level. They also raised the canopy on a maple tree and performed some corrective pruning. Additionally, they took out the dead wood from a large honey locust and alder. Owner was on site for the entire job. Couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism and great service. Al is easy to work with, and he brings an excellent crew, too. Have already rescheduled them for a return visit in late fall to trim out dead wood from five massive oaks.

Overall, it was worth my Angie's List subscription investment to find this company. Initially I hesitated to contact Rivas because I was worried they wouldn't work in my area but I'm really glad that I did. All communication with Al and Liz was smooth and prompt. Al provided an estimate within a day but it took me a bit longer to get the tree permit from the town, then we had to wait for several days of consistently dry weather because the yard gets very muddy with rain. It was worth the wait and the company didn't "forget about me" during the waiting period. Liz was great at responding to my emails during the back and forth period before the project started. Al was great on site sending me photos and texts as the job progressed because I wasn't able to be home that day. He was completely accessible during the project, calling to clarify questions. They also arrived first thing in the morning, which was nice. Workers were very quick and professional. My special requests were: No trucks on the lawn please. (done) Take care of the baby trees growing next to the larger trees that were coming down. (done) Put tarp down over storm water drain so tree debris doesn’t fall in and clog the drain pipe. (not done at project start but done after a reminder) I was really worried about the tree branch lying on the cable wire but that was cut down perfectly and the wire is now free and I have peace of mind there. They also cleared a large pile of wood debris left over from the previous homeowner. The yard was actually left in better shape than before the project started. We received several estimates from other tree companies and Rivas was the most reasonable by far. Initially we planned on removing just the nine trees. Then we added on the pesky tree branch and Al pointed out two stumps that could be removed with their equipment while they were on site. So the final tab was a little bit higher than the original estimate but still considered reasonable.

Excellent communication and responsiveness from the start. They were flexible with timing and extremely efficient when the estimate was approved. I have even recommended them to a friend that needs trees removed in his yard. I would definitely use their service again.

Soon, at an agreed date, the team came and took down the tree. No corners cut, expert work, not a twig left on the ground. We have had a couple other?trees removed from different companies and Rivas is substantially better. In addition, the owners are both involved enough to talk on the phone and/or text. It is clear that they are operating with integrity, honesty, and service in the forefront of their minds. Most highly recommended. Will use again. I hope very much that they succeed and grow so that more people will benefit and so that they can be an even more visible role model of excellence and integrity. Thanks!

Shortly after I moved into my wooded lot, I contracted with Rivas Tree Service for some major tree removal and trimming. A number of the trees that needed to be taken down were within 10 feet of the house and in two cases leaning over the roof of our home. The morning of the job, the owner (Al) and his crew arrived on time and began the job. Unbelievable – they were like a synchronized swim team with all six people working in unison to begin to take the trees down. The trees were easily 70 feet high and there wasn’t so much as a branch that fell on the roof. Everything was done safety; on time; and exactly as agreed. Al was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the day and was very accommodating with a couple of last minute requests. We subsequently had him back to do some additional work and were just as pleased the second time. A consummate professional – so much so that two of our neighbors also contracted with Rivas. I would highly recommend Al and his team as they check all the boxes on Quality, Professionalism; Responsiveness, Customer Focus and with a sense of Urgency.

They were in and out in one day. No surprises. Work site was left clean. The owner was present throughout, doing much of the work himself and keeping everyone on track. He even did a couple of small favors at no charge. Great guy.

I called Rivas on Tuesday afternoon and received a prompt call back and scheduled the work for the following morning. 8:00 crew promptly arrived and began to work. Extremely professional with a strong emphasis on worker safety. Men's equipment appeared to be in excellent condition, with an ample supply of every kind of tree cutting/pruning device needed. Trucks and chopper were clean and appeared of very recent vintage. The men worked as a well experienced team, with no wasted time or motion. Clean up was remarkably efficient. My front lawn actually looked much improved after the men had raked it up. I have used Rivas several years before and will use him again. He is also a licensed arborist who assured me my 100 year tree was still healthy.

This is the second time I have used him. It was great. He's very responsive. He came out on his own to look at the trees. He called me yesterday (3/21/16) morning to let me know he was in the area. The service was quick and painless.

Rivas was very professional and did a great job. They were able to work around my schedule, arrived on time and completed on time, left my property cleaned up and tidy as possible. They left me the amount of wood I asked for for firewood, cut in appropriate lengths and neatly stacked, and left wood chips for mulch. Their equipment is in good shape and I observed no unsafe practices or shortcuts to get the job done faster. I would hire them again.

These guys were great. Fast and efficient. The trees were gone and ground up in a time that I couldn't believe. Well worth the cost of having it done. I was very impressed at how my yard looked after. The ash had left small twigs and sticks all over the ground all winter..... Rivas did cleaned up the yard before they left to remove the mess from the trees. In essence it saved me a hour or two of raking! A benefit I wasn't expecting! Great job Rivas! Highly recommended.

Great. Executed as discussed. I didn't even know they were there. One day it was gone; as contracted. I purchased and used a discount coupon offered on Angies List by the company.

It went very well and very happy with the results. Tree came apart on Saturday morning, I contacted Rivas Tree Service and they responded by email that day, one of their arborists stopped and looked at the tree and I had an estimate that afternoon. I returned the signed contract to Rivas on Monday (printer at home out of ink!), and they were here Tuesday. Five guys and lots of machinery and less than two hours resulted in a lovely neat pile of sawdust where my Mock Pear used to be. A warning to those of you having Mock Pears on your property, make sure you have a certified arborist taking care of your trees because Rivas told me that these trees could be managed so that they don't fly part in heavy snow! They even made a valiant effort to get all the leaves blown off but working in the leftovers of 16 inches of snow wasn't going to result in a pristine lawn! I will be contacting in February to have the two trees in back spiffied up for spring.
