We are happy to highly recommend the work of Rob Burgett and Burgett Builders Inc., of Beach Park, IL, the general contractor for the 2013 total renovation of our kitchen. We can?t imagine a better, more skilled, knowledgeable, energetic, hard-working, conscientious, responsive, agreeable, neat and unflappable contractor than Rob, or a better crew of workers and subs. Rob and his crew of employees and subs did an absolutely outstanding job. Not only did they complete the project in a high-quality way, neatly, on time and within budget, but they were a joy to work with. Rob is a hands-on contractor who can and does many things himself -- from carpentry to electrical, insulation, HVAC, doors and locks. But he also knows how to select and supervise excellent people to supplement his efforts, from his outstanding regular crew to his team of hardwood flooring, electrical, plumbing, and tile installation subcontractors. With them all, he?s an excellent colleague and boss, who sets high standards, treats all with respect, teaches and helps as needed, and makes the jobsite fun. We particularly marveled at Rob?s scheduling ability. He always knew what remained to be done and never let anything drop. He scheduled the flow of work between himself, his crews and subs to make maximum use of every day, with very little down time. In fact, the project would have been completed ahead of schedule if the tile we ordered hadn?t been delayed, something totally beyond his control. So Rob completed absolutely everything else and enabled us to start using our new kitchen while we waited for the tile. Then the day after the tile arrived, he got it installed. We truly had a dream team on the project. Rob worked closely and smoothly with Mike O?Brien and Jeff Burch of Change Design Group, of Wilmette, IL, which designed and oversaw the renovation and fabricated and installed the cabinets and countertops, to resolve issues and make adjustments as needed. Most people who do major renovations can't wait for their contractors to be gone. Not us. We?ll miss Rob?s infectious laugh and the easy, friendly manner with which he went about capably completing every detail of the job ? not to mention his occasional gifts of his homegrown asparagus and blueberries.
