"FIRST OFF, I WOULD LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW J&J HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 15 YEARS AND HAS NEVER HAD TO LIEN A CLIENTS HOME UNTIL NOW!! EVEN AFTER COMPLETING HUNDREDS OF REMODELING PROJECTS. THIS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME J&J HAS EVER FILED A LIEN ON A HOMEOWNERS PROPERTY. Our clients have trusted us to work in their homes for over 15 years and have referred us to their friends, neighbors and relatives. We have survived the ups and downs of the economy with 95% of our business being generated by referral. We have worked for Architects, Engineers, Attorneys, Designers, and many different families over the years. We are current members and in good standing with the BBB of Chicagoland with an “A” Rating, the NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) , the NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) First place recipient of the 2008 NARI Residential Addition $250,000 & over . We are also current and in good standing with both the Barrington and Wauconda Chamber of Commerce. We take pride in our work and feel it is absolutely necessary to set the record straight. He states we did not temporarily insulate a pipe and it burst. He is correct, during the demolition stage we exposed a pipe in the garage area and wrapped it with insulation to protect it from freezing until the plumber could come out and properly remove it. Before the plumber had a chance to move the pipe, the temperature dropped to 20 below zero with the wind-chill and the pipe burst. The Member's were spending time at their vacation home in Colorado at the time of the incident. One of the neighbors or relatives watching the house contacted them, who contacted me. I immediately drove to their house in the middle of the night and shut the water off and met a cleanup crew to start extracting the water. The very next day I contacted My Insurance Company and we began restoring the damage in the basement. We completely restored the basement to a better condition than it was originally in. I even let the member's upgrade their carpet to a much better grade than they originally had at no cost to them. They were 100% satisfied with the basement repairs and released J&J and Country Companies Insurance of all future claims. He left us a very small punch list which we completed. We then sent him a final bill; he said he did not receive it. Then I e-mailed it to him, he still did not get it. Then I sent him the bill certified mail, again he did not get it. Then the mail carrier tried to hand deliver it to him. He refused it. Then he wanted it forwarded certified mail to a Colorado address. Again, the bill came back unable to forward. He ignored multiple phone calls, letters, e-mails etc. We even hired an Attorney to try and negotiate with him. We offered arbitration, negotiations, all ignored by him. He left us no choice but, to lien his property. The member never had any issue with us, until it was time to pay his bill. Out of good faith we still offer arbitration, or negotiations to settle this matter. Arbitration is still less expensive than a court room. We would also even consider forgiving the late fees and Attorneys costs already incurred. It is my only hope Angie’s list members and staff will not judge us by this ONE UNFOUNDED CRITICISM . We at J&J invite you to look at our work, call our references, call our subs, call our suppliers, call our affiliated trade organizations; come visit us at our office at 1001 N Old Rand Rd Suite 111 Wauconda, Il. 60084. Or E-mail me at [email protected]. With any questions or concerns. Sincerely yours, Jay Motley Vice President J&J Construction Specialists Inc."
