I highly recommend Garage Decor and More! This was easily the best home improvement project we have done since purchasing our home five years ago. Despite what you may think from the name, this company does closet organization systems of any size as well as garage organization systems. Perry Tiemann is phenomenal to work with. He is a one man show and does 100% of the design, ordering, and installation. He is precise, detailed oriented, knows how to think outside the box to solve complex problems, and his design skills are the best we found after interviewing/working with 4 other companies. Perry's level of customer service and communication are top notch. He was always 2 steps ahead of us, easy to get a hold of, and very responsive. The quality of work that went into our end product met and exceeded our expectations. We have extremely high expectations for any contractor and the house projects we conduct. Perry is one of the few people we have hired that truly impressed us. We absolutely LOVE our master closet and have no idea why we waited this long to do it. We would hire Perry again in an instant and certainly enthusiastically recommend him to others! Please see below for more details on our specific project. We have a master bedroom closet approximately 9ft. x 7ft. Since we live in an older home, this space used to be an actual room and contains 2 windows, an air vent, outlets, and a few other oddities. Up until this project, there were only 2 iron rods for hanging clothes and the space was sorely underutilized. Being new to closet systems, we went to the big closet companies first and checked out IKEA. The big closet companies gave us standard out of the box designs that mostly used the space and definitely would have looked nice, but didn't quite meet what we had in mind. We wanted to use every square inch of space in the closet - take the cabinets all the way to the ceiling, eek out every possible inch of hanging space, drawer space, and meet our long list of things that we hoped to store in the closet. The big closet companies had a hard time working around the windows (most proposed covering up one or both of the windows with cabinets), the air vent, and giving us enough hanging space, shoe storage space, and drawer space. We then went to IKEA thinking maybe we could design it ourselves and save some money. IKEA was a very probable solution, but then we came across Perry. We first met Perry at the St. Louis Home and Garden show and never forgot him because of his custom design approach and the fact that the products he used seemed to be of a higher quality. Because he is a one-man show, he could also keep his costs down and compete with the bigger closet company stores, if not beat them on cost-value ratio. The design process with Perry was awesome! The amount of hours Perry spent on our design was incredible and he does it for free - in hopes you will actually use him in the end. The first design Perry came up with was spot on. He used every inch of space possible, easily worked around the windows (left them both open and they are so attractive now!), the air vent, outlets, and other oddities, and Perry was able to incorporate the major items on our list with ample space. We spent time tweaking the design here and there to make it exact. Perry came to our house a few times to take measurements, review the design with us and make sure it met all our needs. We went to his home/workshop one time to look at examples of closet spaces and the cabinet finishes. After seeing his home and the real life example, it was very clear that Perry's design and products far exceeded those of the bigger closet companies and we would get more bang for the buck. The quote we received from Perry was not insignificant; it was on par with the bigger closet companies, but we were receiving WAY more functionality, utilized space, and "extras" from him. If we had done all of this with a bigger closet company, it easily would have been 1.5 - 3 times the cost. Installation week came (took about 2.5 - 3 days) and everything went seamlessly. Perry ran into issues because none of our walls are perfectly straight (being in an older home), but he was prepared for these issues and quickly worked with them. You walk into our closet and you would never know that the walls aren't straight. Perry made sure that the closet system was straight and it looks beautiful. Overall, hands down, getting a closet system installed is the best house investment we have made. We use it every day and actually have so much more space that much of if is still empty! Our clothes/shoes are now organized instead of spread everywhere. We will definitely use Perry again in the future for all our closet organization needs!
