Diamond Standard Exteriors

Cedar trim of my house needs be repaired/replaced. A windown needs be recaulked. Both are relatively small projects. Contacted the company in Nov. 2018. Evaluation was done and an estimate was provided. I signed the agreement and paid the deposit as agreed. Then there has been long wait and no further action at all. I had to call, text, or email the contact in order to get any update. I understood it was hard to perform any exterior work in winter time at my area. However, there is still no any clear progress even when we are in spring of 2019. After a couple of more email/text exchanges, they just terminated the jobs with a refund check and a text message.

The job went very well from start to finish. Joe came in and measured everything and gave me an honest quote. I am a US Nave Veteran and I requested a veterans discount. He gave me a 5% discount. After I got the neccessary HOA approval for the work I gave him a deposit and he measured a second time. Joe obtained the building permit and ordered the windows and sliding glass doors. The windows and sliding glass doors are manufactured in Chicago and once ordered it took about 5 weeks for them to be assembled and we scheduled the install for about a week later. The crew of 2 men installed the windows and sliding glass doors inabout a day and a half and I couldn't be happier. The product looks great, the energy savings is already apparent and my condo is quieter.

They were able to match the white cladding around the rest of the house exactly. Looks very nice.

I called D-S Exteriors and left a message of the repair that I needed. When they returned my call, I described the repair again, we discussed it and they gave a me a quote over the phone. Once I approved the quote, they gave me a loose timeframe and then called me again the day before the repair. They came, repaired and sent me a bill the same amount as the quote. They did a great repair job and didn't overcharge me. I would recommend them again in a heartbeat.

They were here the next day and had the new gutter and downspout installed in less than an hour. They were very professional and courteous. They said we would receive an invoice in the mail in a few days. The bill was for the exact amount we were quoted. Thank you to D-S!

When we had to replace the front siding of our home (replaced stucco with Polymer shingles), went through a list of few companies who can do it. The estimates varied quite a bit, btw, D-S exterior dame somewhere in the middle. Aside the cost, why we went with D-S exterior was the honest and open communications we had with Dan and his willingness to work with us. They had the experience and expertise to put the type of shingles we were looking for. We replaced them last September and am writing the review now just to state that the work they did has been absolutely outstanding!!. Will hire Dan and team again without any 2nd thoughts and hands down they are among the best in the area.

This was the third contractor to come out and try to repair the issue. It is not possible to adjust the pitch of the gutter, because of the type of system, but Dan suggested enlarging the drop tubes and downspouts. The work was completed quickly and professionally. They even followed up with a phone call to make sure that we were satisfied. I will definitely have D-S return in the future!!!

We used D-S Exteriors about 14 years ago to replace our gutters. When they came out to discuss that project, they talked to us about our windows and measured and gave us a price. While the windows did need to be replaced, we were not ready to do them yet as other projects had a higher priority. Joe Soltis of D-S Exteriors came over in February to discuss the project of replacing the windows. He told us about the make of the windows. In addition to normal windows, we have a couple of windows in our basement that are odd sized, but he took them in stride. He rechecked the measurements taken years earlier and found them to be good. We gave a 50% down payment and he started the process. Joe kept us informed along the way as to when the windows were ready and when he could schedule the project to be done. He had estimated two guys would take 1.5 days. The day of the work, three guys showed up and the work was done the same day. All the windows work very well. In fact, they were made right in Chicago. We are very pleased with the new windows and enjoy looking out of them. The windows they replaced were original with the house in 1978 so were pretty well worn out and terrible to look at. The guys did a great job. We will definitely use D-S Exteriors again. I recommend D-S Exteriors highly.

Everything went very well. We actually called them after the job was finished and added on an additional door and they included it in our total price. They are extremely friendly and they did a great job!

Recommended company to handle

I didn't really like working with them once the job started.  It was an insurance claim and they didn't tell me that part of the work outlined by the insurance would not be done.  They definitely had the claim in advance of work start.  It felt like the pulled a fast one to make more money on the job.  I would say to be very careful of the scope of the work they are going to perform, don't take anything for granted.  My insurance paperwork said they should remove the previous construction felt and tar paper, and dispose;  then add new tyvek and fan fold insulation.  They had a big crew there the first day, and before I realized what was happening they had the new tyvek on and about 1/4 of the siding up.  They made me feel like I was a trouble maker for bringing up that they weren't performing the full scope of work that the insurance outlined.  I ended up just going along with it;  it left a bad taste in my mouth.  Ultimately the neighbors think it looks great, and I'm not saying much.  The guy who does their job management was very disrespectful to me.  I would not use them again.

Our entire experience with D S Exteriors was A+
We obtained multiple quotes for vinyl window replacement for our primary residence, and although the quote we received from D S Exteriors was not the cheapest, we felt very comfortable with the product offered and the professionalism of the company.
All visits (pre, during and post installation) were friendly and prompt. We never felt like we were being pressured to make a decision, and when we did decide to go with their service they were very grateful and continued to provide first rate attention. 
We were especially impressed with the time that was taken prior to our decision during the quoting process by the company to ensure that we fully understood the process and the products.
The installation team worked very hard, and although the complete project took longer than initially thought we were never under the impression that time was being wasted.
Neighbors and friends have since agreed that the windows and the work are high quality. At least one neighbor has since used this company's service for new windows, which leads us to our only issue - we never received the $100 referral bonus for that contact!
All things considered, we are very satisfied with our decision to have D S Exteriors install our new windows.

The "diverter" was made with one 12 foot piece of aluminum that matches with our existing facia and soffit and installed.  It does not "stick out" like a sore thumb, but looks as though it was always present.  We feel confident that this will alleviate ice forming on our driveway two to four feet from the outside of the overhead door, and we won't have to worry about slipping or falling or hurting ourselves.







D-S Exteriors has done excellent work for us in the past and continues with great work and service.  We would not hesitate to use their services in the future.

The work was okay. But from the time we first contacted them to the time the tenant was out of the window was three months. We know that there's some family problems and we know that there was bad weather but still three months was excessive. Even though the work turned out okay it's only a B. I think we first contacted them in May and then really didn't fix until August; it was three months almost to the day that took them to finish. They are really nice people but communication sucks. It was like "We'll call you next week" and they never called. The first inspection failed.

We had had trouble with the gutters on our house overflowing during heavy rains of greater than an inch an hour.  This despite the fact they get cleaned out a dozen times during the spring/summer/fall.  We have had water in the basement because of it.  Steve suggested we get the bigger downspouts and we wanted new gutters because ours were more than 20 years old.  They also added another downspout on the front of the house since this is were most of the problem occurs. 
Since the repair, we have had several rains that were in excess of 2 inches an hour with the most recent being 4 inches an hour (thank God it only lasted 20 minutes).  NO PROBLEMS!  Gutters kept up every time - what a relief.  Starting to feel like I need not panic with heavy rain.  Thanks Guys!

Good.

They didn't actually come out and do measuring. They were just talking, so they weren't really involved. They didn't really explain or go into details. It was just, okay, they'll match an estimate I already had. So that was pretty much it.

They did very good work. They gave us an excellent estimate and they were very careful and very good with the clean-up when the work was done. They managed to do the job with no damage to plantings around the house. We have received compliments on how good the roof looks, also. I have recommended them to others.

It was a neighborhood business, they did a pretty good job, I can't really recommend them to anyone else.

The aluminum wrapping around our overhead garage door had become deteriorated due to age and salt corrosion at the base. We contacted D-S Exteriors at the beginning of June 2012 for an estimate on replacing this wrapping which has to be custom bent to match the shape of the wood framing the garage door. A representative from the company came out within a day or two, and we were given an estimate for the work.  We signed and sent back the proposal. Within a week or so, a representative after calling to schedule an appointment came out with samples of siding to match. We selected a color.  We were contacted to schedule the installation of the work within a couple of days. The price was very reasonable, the workmen showed up as scheduled, and the quality of the fit and finish is OUTSTANDING. They even caulked the entire area so water won't get behind and cause rot. We would HIGHLY recommend DS EXTERIORS.
