Self interest almost prevented me from writing this review because I have other projects I need done and if the residents of northeastern Illinois learn that Randal Doty is the ideal contractor, it may be years before I can get onto his schedule. Randy is highly skilled, conscientious and honest. He remodeled my kitchen exactly the way I would have done it myself if I had the skills.
His fees were significantly lower than the prices quoted by Home Depot and Lowes.
He did everything that needed to be done and nothing that did not. He worked on our project without taking any days off to work on any other projects. We added a number of features after the project started and he only charged us for the costs of the additional materials.
Everything was installed very well and we are very happy with our new kitchen and bath

Randy was on the job everyday and was very consultative and also responsive to changes. He was easy to talk to and work with and did not try to upsell you or add in any charges.  He was willing to work with us to get the end product we desired. He did most of hte work himself so we were not reliant on someone's else's schedule. The few jobs he did sub out - drywall, paint, and tile work -  were performed impeccably by experienced professionals. He also gave me some good referrals for granite contactors that sell remmants and shower door glass installers that were very inexpensive relative to other quotes. All around, a fabulous end product and would love to work with Randy again - definitely recommend!

Randy assisted us in a major remodel of our master suite.  He removed the existing bathroom and moved walls/plumbing to create a more modern space.  He was very professional and efficient to get the job done timely and well.  He kept the job moving and made progress everyday.  He was very responsive to our questions and effectively researched options for us.  We could not be more pleased with the outcome and have received many compliments on the quality of the workmanship.

He did outstanding work. It was beyond our expectations. He was able to stay within budget and get the project done in the projected time. I have had him do several projects for me in the past and he always does excellent work. His work is so good that it belongs in a magazine.

My basement flooded at the end of July 2010 and filled with about 4-5 inches of water. It was a finished basement with a laundry/half bathroom. Damaged drywall and cabinetry needed to be replaced. I decided to make some upgrades as well. Upgrades included installing a built in closet and a shower, installing porcelain tile vs. cheaper tile squares, adding a few more electrical outlets, new plumbing for the washer discharge, new walls where needed, new recessed ceiling light fixtures and a vent as well as a new inside door. I'm doing the painting and trim work myself to save some money which was agreed upon.

Excellent work quality, integrity and reliability. If Randy did not perform beyond my expectations, I would not continue to call on him.
