He quickly identified the problem (bad fixture), moved one of the good fixtures to replace the bad one, and cleaned up the mounting area where the moved fixture had been. He was extremely pleasant throughout. Will definitely call in the future if I need any other electrical work.

The installation went well and I was pleased with the experience.  My neighbor and I both had this company put in 20 KW generators within the same week.  Due to some economies of scale we were given an attractive price to have the two jobs done simultaneously.  Both installations were done correctly.  Mike utilizes a plumber for the gas pipe work and Roger did quality electrical work.  This company is very competitive on both price and quality of the installation job.  I was careful to choose someone who wouldn't cut corners.  My expectations were meet.

They came out to show pricing and options - very nice and not high pressure.  Answered any questions we had.  Once we decided to go with them, they were quick to get on the job and did very clean and excellent work.  We had one issue with the box cover after a couple of days with high winds and after I called them, they came right out and fixed it.

Everything went great. This was a BIG job. Unfortunately our house arrangement was very difficult. Mike and Roger were great though. This install involved setting up a gas line around our house almost 300' long, around a pool, through lava rock beds and hooking up with a complicated electrical setup. The job took two days and involved trenching and difficult electrical work. All work was done well and mike took the time to explain the system after it was setup and also offered a cash discount in his pricing. Much appreciated. Mike obtained all the necessary permits and went over the options for the complicated install. Roger did most of the electrical work and I felt he was very good at what he does. In all, these guys are very capable. A job well done.

In short, as most folks living in the unincorporated areas of McHenry County on private well and septic that have experienced power outages know it's not a "walk in the park" considering we are usually the last to get the power back on. Our portable generator did an ok job powering the refrigerators, deep freezer, sump pumps, ect. but it's a scramble using all the extension cords and if your not home at the time of the outage? The portable is useless.

That being said, we finally decided to install a "standby" generator. So we did our research with all the different brands, sizes and fuel types of residential generators i.e. Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton. Going with the Generac Guardian Series was a no brainer decision for us!
Then we went through the the typical three bid process for the installation. All three contractors we had bid the job were from Angie's List and very qualified. We choose Mikus Electric. This was also an easy decision for us. My wife and I have worked with many trades/contractors over the years; some good and some bad. IMO, Mike and his team with Mikus Electric are the best. Another aspect we liked about Mike is that he tells it how it is; no BS. Mikus Electric is also very competitive. Their workmanship and professionalism exceeded our expectations. Very clean job.

I had a very good experience with them. They came out and gave us an estimate right away. They ordered the generator for us and it came when they said it would and then they made an appointment and came out. The owner didn't noticed that when he quoted the job we had special electrical installation in our house which was 400 amp. He didn't see it because it wasn't evident and it was going to cost a little bit more for them to pull some extra wire to take care of dealing with that, but since he missed it he ate the cost and didn't charge me as the customer. He told me that it was his mistake and that he would take care of it. He only took an extra half a day to do it. He has pretty good integrity as far as I'm concerned because he stuck to his word. His price was right and everything was punctual. He was supposed to come out last Friday to finish the job, but he had an opening and asked me if he could come on Wednesday. He did an excellent job and we put him on for maintenance to take care of the generator. I looked at a couple of others and they would give me estimates over the phone and wouldn't even come out to do the installation when I wanted it done.

I asked to be contacted about a stand-by whole house generator on the Generac website.  Very quickly I was called by Mike the owner of Mikus Electric, and we scheduled a consultation.  He provided the second of two formal proposals I received.  I liked the fact he was the actual owner, and he had a slightly more competitive bid with better advice on placement of the unit in consideration of the exhaust.
The contractor through Home Depot was too busy to provide a quote on a timely basis.  Good problem for them, but I told them I would not wait and would be making a buying decision very quickly.  A fourth contractor wanted to provide a bid over the phone and wanted last look without doing the consult.
This is an expensive home improvement, and I decided to go with a firm that specializes in generator installations and is highly rated by Generac.  Mikus fit the bill.  They will be handling the annual maintenance for a competitive fee and are available 24/7 for service issues.
The crew was very professional and courteous, and Mike left the area around the generator and basement spotless.
Highly recommend.  Would use again for my next home.

My problem has been that I paid him in advance for a flood light and for nearly a year he has given me excuses as to why he couldn't fix the original job. He claims he has a new part but has yet to come back out. He is very unreliable. If you use him you will be disappointed by his services.
