"I sincerely apologize to the customer that the information about his air conditioning unit was not conveyed in a manner that could be completely understood. I was trying to give the customer information so he could make an informed decision on whether he wished to replace or repair his unit. The heating system was operating within the manufacturer's specifications. I observed during the air conditioner inspection that the condenser fan motor and compressor were operating within the manufacturer's specs but when I attached my refrigerant gauges the pressures were not within spec's. I spoke with the customer and advised him that his dogs were male and volunteered they had probably urinated on the outside condenser. I explained that dog urine is extremely corrosive and can affect the operation and efficency of the a/c system. I also explained that the evaporator coil is copper and with 410A refrigerant there can be formicary acid corrosion leading to leaks and eventually system failure. Manufacturer's are now using aluminum coils to eliminate formicary acid corrosion. I offered to have our comfort specialist meet and discuss replacement at no charge to the customer. I also gave the customer an estimate for locating the leaks and repair. My experience of over twenty years and training has led me to give our customer's options. I was only trying to explain the probable existing issue on his air conditioning system. I believe an informed customer that knows potential problems is a satisfied customer. Again, I apologize for any miscommuication. RC's strives to give the best possible service and information to it's customers. RC's Hvac technician"
Installers arrived late because their first job took longer than expected. But they called me to let me know. When the arrived they worked efficiently and quietly and minimized walking back and forth to the thermostat. They were very friendly. When done they took away the old air conditioner.
"Thank you for allowing us to work for you. It was a pleasure and if you need anything else, please give us a call."
In short, this $50 special ended up costing me a total of $637 (including the cost of a new inspection that was thorough), although there was nothing seriously wrong with the unit.
"We apologized for the lateness in response to customer's purchase. The service person that handles the angie's list and scheduling fell, broke her wrist and had to have surgery. It took us a few days to get things in order and as soon as it was discovered that we had not responded we tried to schedule the inspection immediately at the convenience of the customer. Most of our customers were very understanding of the extenuating circumstances. Our technician's service records show that the ac inspection was completed after repairs were approved by the customer. We are sorry that the customer is unhappy with the cost of repairs. No repairs were/are done until the full charges are given, approved and signed off on by the customer. If not approved, other arrangements for repairs can be made and RC's given a call. We would have re-scheduled and completed the inspection when the unit was operational. The 25 point inspection is inspecting and taking readings of the operation of the unit. The inspection does not include any services or maintenance to the equipment. We strive to give the very best service we can to all our customers."
