Shirley helped me to decide to replace the diamond holder (called the head) because 4 of the 6 prongs wore off. The best option was to cut and replace with a new white gold head. The repair time was three days at < 200.00 dollars. Shirley also said the price includes polishing the engagement ring and wedding band.
When I picked up the rings on Friday, Sam showed me the repaired rings. They looked like new! These rings were never polished In thirty years and now they look great!

Together we worked out the design of the new pendant.  It is beautiful!  The workmanship is flawless.  No one would know that the pendant was earrings in another life.  This is not the first conversion I've had done her and I am always impressed with the creativity, the professionalism and the workmanship of the owners.  they even made sure that the bail on the pendant was large enough to be worn both with a chain and with a collar/omega necklace.  Very thoughtful.

We have been very happy with their work.  The cost was very good and very competitive.  They were on time and it was made well.  I would use them again.  He will tell you a lot of information if you want to know more.

It was a wonderful experience.  I had been to other jewelry stores that were not really interested in repair the costume jewlery along with the fine jewelry.  I was pleasantly suprised that was not the case at TC Jewelry.  They made me feel extremely comfortable and accommodated a variety of repair needs to both fine and costume jewelry.  They also helped me make informed decisions about which repairs may not be worthwhile.  I never felt rushed or pressured.  They took as much time as necessary to address my needs.
I live in Chicago and it was well worth the drive to Vernon Hills.  I am so very pleased that I can now where the jewerly (worth over $4,000) that had been lying around used for years because of repair needs.  The repair cost was an excellent investment.  I highly recommend their services.

I have a ring that I have had for about 45 years.  Over the years, the ban had gotten thin, and finally broke.  TC Jewelery said that they could weld the break, but because the band was so thin, it would be better to replace the entire bottom half of the ring.  That is what I requested.  They did a beautiful job.  It was done on time, as described, and at the estimated cost.

The work was done wonderfully, I was very happy with the work and the price was good as well. The jeweler really knew what to do and was able to get it done in a good amount of time. It didn't take too long.

The diamond had fallen our of my engagement/wedding ring set, and after taking the wedding band off for a surgery, I was unable to get it back on, so for my birthday, I asked my husband to have them reset and re-sized for me.  After looking up Angie's List, we chose TC Jewelry, since it was near the southern campus of the College of Lake County, where we attend classes.  
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.  Sam put us at ease, (none of the stiff formality that seems to be the norm in many jewelry stores!) and helped me select an appropriate setting from among the samples.  I found one I liked, except I did not want the smaller side diamonds - he was able to customize it for me, and I was quite surprised at the reasonable cost he quoted.  When we returned to pick it up, I felt the size was still a little too small - no problem, Sam kept it for another week and worked on it, and the fit was perfect.  We had also asked him for an appraisal, which he willingly supplied.  
Because he had been so helpful, I brought in an old turquoise pendant that had been given to me in the 1950's - I had not worn it in years, due to the fact that one of the stones had fallen out.  Sam was unable to find any stone that exactly matched the color and shape, but suggested that he could fill in the blank space with an enamel that would match much more closely, at very little cost.  - the result was great, and  unless you look very closely, you could never tell the difference!  
The store has a number of displays of reasonably priced semi-precious gems in unusual settings.  While waiting, I found a pair of earrings that I couldn't resist, so purchased them, too!

Overall, it went very well.  I had lost a  .04 diamond on my Engagement ring.  I looked on Angie's List for a Jewerly Repair Store that would have that size diamond and would give me a quote over the phone to replace the diamond, clean and polish the Engagement and Wedding rings.  I must have called about  eight stores, and all of them, except TC Jewerly, would'nt give me a quote over the phone, without seeing the Engagement Ring first.  After describing the ring and diamond, I was told that they had the diamond in their store and would replace the diamond, clean and polish both rings for about $100.00.  I didn't need to make an appointment, just come in.   Once, I  arrived there, I asked to see the diamond and Tim brought it out to show me.  It sparkled and shined and was the right cut, size, shape and clarity.  Tim told me that to replace the diamond, clean and polish both rings and put rodium on the Engagement ring, it would cost us only $20 more than the price I was first quoted.  Since it was still less than I had anticipated, I told him to go ahead.  He said the Wedding ring was a different quality than the Engagement ring, and it would cost $35 to put rodium on it.  We agreed to do that at a later date.  While he worked on both rings, I looked around at the other jewerly he makes in his store.  He was finished in less than hour and the rings look really cleaned and polished.  The diamond, fit perfectly and outshines all the other diamonds on that ring.   Do go there not only for the quality of the work, but also, for cost ( less than any of the other Jewerly Repair Stores on Angie's List.)

From the moment my husband and I walked in to their store we felt right at home, comfortable.  In some other jewelry stores you almost get the feeling that you aren't good enough to be there.  Shirley listened to all of my concerns about my 3 rings and even got some feedback from my husband.  After consulting with her husband the owner/jeweler) she gave us several options to choose from in regards to the repair on each ring.  My birthstone ring had a large amythest stone that slid back and forth in its setting.  She explained that they would correct that, clean, inspect and rhodium plate the white gold.  My engagement ring would need new tips for the center diamond, the center stone prongs to be straightened and the shank of the ring removed and a new shank added.  The band had become very thin after several re-sizings.  Also, it would be rhodium plated.  The wedding ring would be inspected, cleaned, the white gold rhodium plated and after some discussion we decided to go with their recommendation of adding 2 new diamonds, one to each end of the channel set diamonds.  This would almost completely get rid of the groove that was created when it was last resized.  Lastly, she added that they would do the appraisal on the wedding set.  She promised that my rings would be ready in 1 week.  When we came back a week later we got the pleasure of speaking with Sam, the owner's son.  I cannot tell you how excited I was to see what amazing work they did!  It was like looking at brand new rings and my wedding set looks better than the day we bought it.  The wedding band looks like it has always had those diamonds there; Sam advised us that the ring now had 13 stones in it - that's my favorite number!  My rings had not been properly taken care of in over a year because I was not willing to take them back to the chain jeweler I bought them from or take them to a new chain jeweler in the local  mall.  I have been looking for the right place to take them to and we found that place in TC Jewelry.  Shirley told us that everything in their cases are all her husband's work.  Such amazing talent!  Sam also gave us expert information about what was done to my rings and answered my question about the certificate that came with the engagement ring.  He explained what he agreed with on the certificate and what he didn't agree with and was honest in saying that if we had come to them at the time of wedding set purchase they would have been able to offer us better quality for the same amount we spent.  Believe me, I have already hinted to my husband that a pair of diamond earrings would be nice or another ring.  This will be the one and only jeweler we use.  Thanks TC Jewelery.

The service provided was outstanding; they were courteous and knowledgable. He recommended an appropriate replacement chain and gave me a few choices. I asked if they could have it done the same day and they had it ready in 1.5 hours as promised. They cleaned up the piece so beautiful, it looked like a brand new piece when I picked it up. The price charged was the same as quoted. I will definitely return there for additional services, such as having some of my seldom worn pieces re-designed.

TC Jewelry are very nice people to work with. They listed to the setting I wanted and recommended changes. I came back a couple of times to modify the work they did - me changing my mind - and they made the changes with no extra charge.

Workmanship is outstanding. All gold and silver work is done in- house and in excellent taste. Their retail inventory is full of unique pieces, including oriental pieces.
