These people are pros - really good at what they do. Monica in the Office was very helpful and their drivers dropped the rock/ soil exactly where I asked - spot on ( I was not around to supervise - HA!). The price was very reasonable and delivery was very timely. All good.

We initially ordered 28 yards of soil, since we were not sure how much we needed. They were very good about letting us know the schedule (a few days of 1+and quot; rainstorms delayed their deliveries). We sent them pictures and measurements of our city lot and the alley. They let us know they could deliver using the 6 wheel truck - 14 cu yds per load. They also have a semi that delivers 30+ yds, but that would be hard to maneuver in.
Pricing - they were not the cheapest. But far from from the most expensive. The cheaper providers quoted non-pulverized topsoil. (and quot;Fresh from the field!and quot;) Which would likely be grapefruit sized chunks of dirt with no compost or manure. Fine for grass, but not great for a garden. And would be a pain to spread by hand.
We had them deliver on Friday, post rush-hour. They got to Uptown (from Union) by ~11. We asked the driver how much fence he needed pulled down, and he got in the yard in one shot. Second load was here by ~2pm. On Sat we spread the dirt around with a Bobcat and found we were a few yards short. Called Monday around 1pm, and they apologized that they would not be able to deliver the dirt until Tuesday morning.
The final delivery was super smooth, and quick.
The dirt appears great. (We have not planted anything yet.) Our Bobcat driver was very impressed with both the quality and quantity of the dirt. He said that what they load in a 6-wheel truck is almost as much as others put in a semi.
There are a few rocks and other bits mixed in, but all of that would easily fit in a 2 gallon bucket from our 35 yds. Perfectly acceptable. I'm happy letting kids run around barefoot on it. It's well pulverized, and is easy to spread by hand. It's almost like shoveling grain. I flipped off my sandals for a some of the hand work time. It just felt nice on the soles of my feet.
I have not gotten dirt from any other suppliers. And honestly, I don't know if I ever will.

After calling around to several companies that deliver topsoil, I narrowed down our selection to two places. Either place seemed comparable but JCK was a little less money and they also accepted credit cards. The truck showed up around the time we expected it and we discussed where to dump the load of topsoil. He moved the truck a few times for us until it was as close to where we wanted it as it could be. The ground was wet and he couldn't go into the grass. All in all the experience went well.

I called one of the other highly rated vendors, and got a price of around $350 for roughly 7-8 cu. yds. of screened topsoil (delivered). I called JCK based on a single, very enthusiastic review on the list, and they quoted $200 for 10 yards delivered. I was calling on a Wednesday afternoon, and they were able to deliver the following day, if I had wanted it that quickly. I ordered 10 yards to be delivered on Friday afternoon after 1pm, and the truck showed up about 1:45. I asked for the load to be dumped in 2 places, and the driver was more than happy to do that. The driver was also careful to check clearance on overhead wires and trees. Since he had to back over a public sidewalk, he had me sign a waiver for damages. (It wasn't fresh concrete, so I wasn't worried, and there was no damage.) The quality was excellent. Very little straw or other debris, and the soil itself was great. It was clear from the aroma that it had a fair amount of natural 'fertilizer' in it, too. After spreading the first load, I found I needed more, and had another 10 yards delivered the following Friday. Same great product and service. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again myself, or recommend them to others.

I got quotes from six places for almost seven yards of pulverized topsoil. I had to leave a message when I originally called and it was about 1 1/2 days before they returned my call. Their price was amazingly inexpensive. The soil was beautiful and it looked like black gold. They were perfectly on time for delivery and the driver was professional. The guy accommodated us the best he could to dump it where we wanted it.
