I like them a lot. It is a family type of operation. They make an effort, if the plumber likes you and you like him, they make every effort to match you back up at the next call. Because it is a family type of thing, I noticed that they tend to team them up with a young person with a more experienced person for awhile before they turned the young person is turned loose. They are very responsive. We had new counter tops put in, they arranged with the counter top people to be here. The minute that the counter top people had put the sinks into the cut outs, they were here to connect all the plumbing so that when the counter top people left that day everything was good to go. When they say they are going to be there, they call. Even if you made the appointment they'll call you and let you know if they are running a little behind on the job they are on at that point and give you a new estimate of when they will arrive or they will call you and say we are on time and actually may be even a little early if that works for you.

Excel was hired by my General Contractor to do the plumbing work. A new toilet, shower with plumbing, and vanity fixtures were installed by Excel. All looked OK. Four and a half months later, the toilet valve gave way during very cold outside temperatures. The valve installed there was the old twenty-year old worn out valve from the old toilet. There was water leaking in the bathroom and on the newly plastered wall and was being soaked up by insulation in the wall. The General Contractor was called since I paid the plumbing bill of $1,875 to him and he paid (according to a lein waiver) this amount to Excel. The General Contractor would not take any responsibility for the inferior work. I had to call in another plumber to repair the broken twenty- year old, worn out valve on this new toilet before any further damage to the wall and new bathroom ocurred. After the initial contact, the General Contractor would not answer his phone or return phone calls. A hole had to be cut into the plaster to get at the valve which was also not secured properly in the wall in addition to the fact that an old worn-out valve was installed with this new toilet. There was not only plaster repair needed, but also sealing and repainting of the water stain on the wall from the leak. It was then noticed that a water stain had appeared under the shower head leading to the shower mold. This leak appeared to be caused from the shower head being installed in an inferior way. On March 16 of 2011, I was called by the employee of Excel who wanted to come out and look at the leaks in my bathroom at the request of the General Contractor. I told him that they had been repaired by another plumber three months ago. I forwarded the bills for the repaired plumbing by another plumber and the plaster repair resulting from the plumbing leaks in the amount of $761.16 to the General Contractor and I then made a personal trip to Excel in Troy, IL fo find out what I got from Excel for $1,875, and to discuss the bill for $761.16 I wanted to know hours worked and hourly rate charged. I also wanted reimbursement for my expenses resulting from the faulty plumbing. I was put off by the office assistant. The following day, I received a phone call from Excel stating he would not give this information to me. He said I have to talk to the General Contractor. Neither Excel nor the General Contractor have reimbursed me for this inferior work. I am working now with outside agencies to get financial relief.

Very good. Arrived on time, and completed the project in two days. They worked clean and were very professional throughout. The bid came in 15-25% lower than a local competitor.

For all three times we'ved used them, our calls were almost always returned promptly. The first, for our second-story addition, the owner actually did come out to give us a quote (partially as a favor to our contractor who he knew and partially because of the size of the job) - they were on-time and their work was of high quality, they even worked with us on placement of sink/toilet/tub/shower lines and asked practical questions that helped us decide. The work involved ended up being a bit more intensive than originally thought but Excel made good on their quote and we were not charged a penny more. The second call was to install a new propane line - fast response and Brad worked creatively within the confines of the space. The third was a pinhole leak in an older copper line, one that isn't of standard size anymore - Brad tracked down the part we needed, arrived exactly when he said he would, finished within 20 minutes of when he thought he would, and double checked everything...

I first called Excel to get an estimate on how much it cost to install a water softener system. Nobody was there so I left a voice mail. Brad called back within minutes and gave me a reasonable quote (based on a estimated 2 hours of work) and asked if i wnated it done the next day. Since I hadn't even ordered a system yet, I told him I would call him back when I was ready to install. When I called back, it went the same way. A voice mail led to a prompt callback and an offer to install it the next day. I agreed and he booked it. The next day he showed up promptly and went right to work. As it turned out, the installation instructions had not shipped with the system and he confessed he had never seen this particular make and model before. Undeterred, he called the company that had shipped the system and asked them for instructions, They told him where he could find the instructions on-line. Armed with that information and a computer my wife loaned him, he printed the 20 or so pages of instructions and went to work. After 3-1/2 hours, the water softener was installed but in bypass mode because I hadn't bought salt yet and the system came without one drain line. We paid and he left. I went to my local home improvement center, bought the missing materials, installed them and put the system into operation. That is when the problems began, but Brad was vital to successfully resolving them. When I turned the water on, a small pudlde began forming on the floor. It wasn't a big leak, but it was a leak nonetheless--the only option was to figure out where the leak was and fix it. I called Brad (he had left his cell number--'just in case") and he immediately told me how to disconnect the system from the house plumbing. I did that and then went looking for the leak. Over the course of the next two weeks I ended up calling Brad three times. Each time he patiently worked me through the problems I had. To make a long story short, after two weeks of back-and-forth, the company ended up shipping me a new media tank because the one I had was cracked. It was damaging in handling at some point--manufacturing, shipping or installation, I don't know which. Throughout the entire experience, Brad was very helpful, courteous, and professional. He provided outstanding service and I would DEFINITELY recommend him.
