Tom wasn't pushy about additional work that could have been done, but when I did ask him thoughts, his ideas came out as "suggestions" vs. "you really should get this done" tone. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I can honestly say that my family and I are a lot more safe because of the work that Tom and On Guard Inc. did.

Tom and his partner arrived on time, or even a little bit early. They were both polite and professional, and they had with them everything they needed to get started and take care of the job that day. They cheerfully worked around a crew I had in for an emergency flood clean-up in the basement, and were friendly with my "helpful" cat--all without delaying themselves at all. They installed everything and even found a way to put in the window sensors I wanted but thought they could not do, due to the window construction.
After everything was in place, they tested the equipment: and tested and tested, until they were completely satisfied it was working properly. I got a demonstration of how to arm and disarm the system, along with a copy of the system manual and the number to call for questions or issues. Then they presented my final bill, which was less than the original estimate.
We are new to security systems, so we've had a couple of false alarms already. The glass break sensors are very sensitive and went off when I dropped a heavy box near one sensor. That is no fault of the hardware, but just of me learning to work with what's in the house. The people who answer the service line are as courteous and pleasant as everyone else I have met. I expect we will soon get the hang of the system, and will have no future need to call the center, but it's great to know I am dealing with professionals at every turn.
I was slightly hesitant to go with a service I hadn't heard of before, but the Angie's rating convinced me to call them. I'm so glad I did. They were better than the "name-brand" providers in every way, and I feel fully protected, and satisfied, as one of their customers. Well done, On Guard.
Joe walked us through what we needed over the phone. He was upfront about what our potential costs might be outside of the monitoring fees. He was able to schedule an appointment for a technician to come out within 24 hours.
Tom was the technician that came to integrate the two systems. He was on time, courteous and able to save us some money!!!!
Joe had advised us that we might have to have a communication card replaced and that there was also a possibility that we would not be able to use the same panel if our previous alarm company had locked the panel. Fortunately, Tom checked to see if the communication card was reusable, which it was. Based on our conversations with other providers, we know that he did not have to do this. He could have merely told us it was required in order to make the sale. We were also able to obtain the lock codes from the previous provider in order to use the panels that we owned.
Tom spent three hours with us and integrated both systems seamlessly as well as added our additional contacts - all at no charge other than the monitoring fees which were due quarterly, semi-annually or yearly. Tom also gave us some other suggestions to increase security around our home in the future. He didn't try to sell us anything and merely said that we could always call if we wanted to add something additional in the future. We will definitely refer others to OnGuard.
I was most impressed with the quality of work on the installation. The job was done very professionally and I like the way it looks and operates. I would definitely use their services again if I ever decided to expand the system.
I finally selected On Guard Inc.. James Martin and Joe came over within a couple of days of my call. They were polite, knowledgeable, and listened to my concerns for security in my home; they suggested a system to suit MY needs and not just a ready-made "one size fits all" system. They answered my questions patiently. Proposals and revised quotes were received promptly from their office.
Jim and Joe arrived promptly on installation date with all the equipment needed. While they were unloading their supplies, my dog slipped out of the garage - Jim and Joe took off after him, found him almost a mile away and brought him back. I truly appreciate their courtesy in "going above and beyond the call of duty" in this! The rest of the installation was, happily, uneventful. They work well as a team and the work was completed within the 5-hour estimate given. They patiently tutored me on how to operate the system as well set up the website "app" for me on my Smartphone and home computer so that I can receive status information on my cell-phone via instant messages and emails.
Monitoring of the system is done through a company in Cleveland. In the week since the installation there have been some "false alarms". In all cases (except one) I received a call from the monitoring station within a couple of minutes of the alarm being triggered, so the system seems to be working as designed. Jim and Joe also returned, at my request, to re-check the sensitivity of the glass break detector and answer other questions or concerns I had.
It has been a pleasure dealing with On Guard and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services.
