Dr. Maddalozzo had inserted ear tubes in my son and we brought him in when we suspected another ear infection. At the time he noticed that one of the tubes had grown out of the ear drum (this is natural, although perhaps not as quickly as 4 months). Dr. Maddalozzo originally spoke of performing another operation to reinsert the tube, but at a followup exam a couple weeks later, decided that a more conservative approach was more prudent. I thought that to be a good decision at the time, but probably would have done the surgery had he continued to recommend it. I was glad that we did not however, for a few reasons. First, a surgery would have been costly, time consuming, and traumatic. Secondly, I later heard the results of a Mayo Clinic study which showed that 2 or more general anesthetic procedures under the age of 3 has been correlated with higher incidents of learning disabilities later in life.

He is smart, witty, very disarming and gentle. He can alleviate stress very quickly and bring everything down to understandable levels. The overall experience has been positive and I give him high ratings on all counts.

We visited Dr Maddalozzo who listened carefully to our son's history and performed an examination including xrays. He determined that our son's adenoids were simply too large and had to been removed. There were no problems with his toncils and recommended not to remove them. He explained the procedure to us thoroughly. The surgery was done on an outpatient basis at Children's Memorial in Chicago. Very nice facility and helpful and friendly staff. The surgery went fine as well as the post op. Staff followed up a couple times during the weeks after surgery.
Description of Work: Our 2 year old son was having general sinus problems including disturbed sleep with snorring and occasional sleelp apnea.
