"Your call was taken by a receptionist and she may not have explained the reasoning behind her answer. While we are licensed with the state of Illinois, we also have to carry a contractor’s license for each individual town or city. She checked the list and we are not currently licensed in Chicago Heights. The cost of the licensing is anywhere from $50.00-$200.00 per town including the bond we have to submit. We would have to add that charge to the cost of the repair. We do suggest to homeowners that on a small repair in a town where we are not currently licensed that they might want to check with the building department in their town to see who is already a licensed contractor there. That way they would know the company is licensed and insured and would save the cost of the licensing. Since we do business in an area that includes over 100 cities and towns we do not secure a license in a particular town until we have work in that town. To do a repair for this home we would have to add the cost of the license to the price."
