Blaine's Farm & Fleet - Sycamore

In fall, 2012, I purchased tires and brought them to Farm and Fleet in Belvidere, IL for installation - they could not get the tires I wanted so I bought them from the Toyota dealer. For about $90, Fand F mounted and balanced the tires and put me on a program for lifetime balance and rotation. An average price for an average service.
In short, Fand F is dismal at keeping appointments and honoring their agreements like this. I spoke with the person in charge of their auto shop and was told that they are currently under staffed. He agreed that this is not my problem and that Fand F would not hire the mechanics that he wanted because they were too expensive.
I've noticed over the course of the last several years that several of the Fand F locations surrounding Rockford and Janesville
have been in decline regarding their inventory and especially the quality their training. Very few of their people can answer a question without getting their manager. This seems true across all departments.
I don't shop there anymore.

I've used this service center many times, and for several different vehicles. I was promptly greeted and asked what I needed. I told the service adviser I had noticed a tire on my 2010 Suzuki SX4 had been leaking air, and I wondered if they could repair it. The adviser said that would be fine, but it might be a wait of about 90 minutes. He asked if I would like to make an appointment and come back later. I said that I would, so I scheduled the appointment for 90 minutes later. When I came back, I got right in, and a technician took the wheel and tire off the vehicle to check for a leak. After a short time, he came and talked with me in the waiting room and explained that it was a rather bad leak, and that they would not be able to repair it. He also mentioned a few options: to replace that one tire; replace all 4 tires, or attempt to repair the leak myself. He walked me out into the store's auto department and pointed out a leak repair kit with a plug and sealant. He said I could easily do it myself, but the service center would not want to attempt the repair due to its location near the sidewall of the tire. I said that I could certainly understand that, and that I appreciated his honesty and advice. I bought the repair kit, and it fixed the problem, and Farm and Fleet didn't charge me anything for checking the tire! I offered to pay them for their time and effort, but they graciously declined to take any money. The repair kit was around $5.00, and I'm still driving the vehicle with no air leak a month later. What a great experience! The people there are always friendly and hard-working, and the prices are generally the cheapest anywhere. I absolutely recommend this service center and store for almost all your automotive needs.
