The owner came and gave me a free estimate, great guy. We signed a contract and within a few days the guys showed up at my home and finished the job in one day! Excellent work! They protected all my plants and yard furniture. I'd recommend them to any neighbor, friend, and now you!

If you need a new roof, definitely call J and J.
First of all, let us say that Jerry (co-owner of J and J) was the most professional roofer we met with. He called as soon as he got our phone message, scheduled an appointment for the very next day, arrived when he said he would, and listened to everything we had to say and gave us very helpful suggestions. We had done our homework and had many questions. He answered them all honestly, giving us the pros and cons of certain choices. He was very helpful when it came to choosing between colors because it's hard to imagine what a roof will look like from a 4and quot; sample in a catalog. When asked, Jerry offered his professional opinion, i.e., this one is heavy on red tones, this one is just a bit plain, etc.) We knew by his answers that he knew his colors. Given what we told him about the look we preferred, he was able to suggest which shingles style/color he thought would look and work best.
Jand J was the only roofing company to give us a formal, written estimate. The work included tearing off the old roof and removing old vents; laying an ice shield; laying shingles, installing a ridge vent along the length of the house; replacing only the vents we needed; and applying flashing. Jerry's estimate was only slightly more expensive than others we'd received, but we felt confident he'd get the job done right. We both had a good feeling about him and his company, so we asked him to do the job. We were also given a very helpful list of things the homeowner should be aware of or prepare for.
Day before work began: The shingles and other materials arrived. The truck driver made sure he had the right house and then was very careful not to disturb the lawn or prevent our cars from entering/leaving the garage. Very thoughtful.
First day: The crew of three men arrived at 7am right on time and spent first 1/2 hour covering bushes and protecting plants surrounding house. Then they Immediately got to work tearing off the old roof. Jerry (owner) came by soon after to make sure everything was in order. He gave us his cell phone number in case we needed to contact him. The old roof was off by Noon. They had their own truck to haul the debris away, so there was no ugly dumpster in front of the house for two days. The south side of the house was finished by 4pm. The area surrounding the house was neat and clean.
Second day: The crew came and immediately set to work. We weren't even aware of their presence until the hammering began. Jerry stopped by to check on their work. The crew finished around Noon. Again, the area was clean.
Third day: One crew member came by to do the flashing. Jerry also came by a short time later and walked us around the house to explain that his man doing the flashing was doing two things: taking the time to be sure the flashing is applied so that it's effective (we had problems with the flashing on the old roof), but that it also looks tailored to the roof itself. We were impressed with that level of detail.
We couldn't be happier with our new roof! It's beautifully done and looks perfect with the brick on our house (thanks to Jerry's suggestion). But best of all...We've now been through two major storms since the roof was installed. We're happy to say that, for the first time in years, we're not checking for leaks or putting out buckets.
We're definitely calling Jand J for any other exterior work we have in the future.

The owner, Jerry was wonderful to work with. His team are professional. Not only did he replace the roof, but he did some framing work and replaced the gutters. The men doing the roof was not the same who did the other things. He has workers that specialize in this areas, so that it is done right. They started by setting up the plywood so that there would be no damage to landscaping or neighbors property. After they where done, they did a nice job of cleaning up. I did find a few nails, but I expected to.

The only thing him could do for future business is to take a credit card. He was very honest and took a personal checks from me, but for those customer who cannot pay cash or want to use credit, he may get more customers.

They were a very good recommendation. They did very good work. The work was very well done and it was cheaper than some other roofing people. They did very efficient work, very quick. They came like seven in the morning and they were done before noon, 10 or 11 o'clock. And they just got very good results. The guy was very nice and pleasant to deal with. It was just a good experience.

John was called to repair and or replace shingles on a house that had a 2 year old roof. John WAS NOT the roofer who installed the roof . This home was sold and the home inspector found several issues regarding the new roof and ventilation issues in the attic. John came there with a few guys and repaired everything he was supposed to .I have been using him for the last 20 years. He is a very honest guy and will not make you spend more money than need be. I have also used him for windows, siding, gutters and major construction. His brother is the carpenter who is excellent. If you want honest contractors this is the company to call.

I contacted J and J Roofing from a referral. Within 6 hrs. of contacting J and J roofing Jerry called me back, he scheduled a time to come out and look at the damages, etc. He was prompt as scheduled, walked the entire roof, took pictures of damages. Once he completed the walk around he met with me and showed me the pictures and explained damage and what needs to be done to repair the problem. Jerry was very polite, thorough and knowledgeable. Within 48hrs. I was emailed a detailed estimate. Within 3-4 days agreeing to the estimate, the repair was scheduled. The guy who came out was on time, diligent and efficient. The job started at 7:30 and completed around 2-2:30, the work was done neat without and garbage left behind. I was very pleased with the work performed and very pleased to work with Jerry.

The crew worked very efficiently - starting at 7:00 am and finishing by 1:00pm. They were prompt, courteous, and clean up the work area well afterwards. We received a written estimate and contract before the work started and that was the price we paid. We recommend this contractor.

Our neighbor two doors down recommended Jand J Roofing to us. I read an article on Angie's List on tips when researching a roofer. Dan of Jand J Roofing and Construction hit them all out of the park. He supplied proof of insurance, workmans compensation, gave supplier references and provided a lien waiver for materials. I called their supplier and their exact words were "Good as gold." At over $1200 an ounce, that says a lot. I called their insurance agent and they knew the owners without even looking them up on a computer. They immediately responded with "Jan and Jerry? Oh they're just down the street from us, great people." My mom was the one that met with Dan to receive the estimate. He was the most courteous and the most professional of anyone that gave us an estimate. He never gave us an attitude, not one sigh, even after asking for all those things the Angie's List article suggested. J and J had the best warranty on parts and labor and was the only roofer to provide a brochure on the materials used. I googled some of the other materials in other quotes only to find many complaints by roofers. Dan estimated 3 weeks to begin work unless long stretches of rain pushed their schedule out. Three weeks later almost to the day, materials showed up on my driveway for work to begin the next day. The crew cleaned up so well that the satellite company couldn't even tell we had work done. As promised, the work was done in two days. Another plus is that Dan checks his email regularly so we were able to communicate easily. We got the 25 year parts and labor warranty so no offense to Jand J but we hope we never have to use them again, at least for this house. As you can tell, we highly recommend them.

Overall, things went very well.

The work was done and, being a single woman, I did not get up on the roof to check their work. I have since found out that portions of the roof were not covered by shingles but by rolled roofing paper. They left the roof with a large spot where water and ice accumulated for days on end until it evaporated. They did not make sure that the roofing was slanted so that the water and ice would drain off when the weather was bad. We have contacted them repeatedly and they did come out once and said they would discuss it with the owners and get back to me. I called them again and they were unresponsive except to say that they would do what was right for us. To date, they have not returned my calls or given us any satisfaction regarding their work. I feel that they should either come and fix the roof so it will not leak or accumulate water or give us some monetary satisfaction if they are unable to do the work.

Everything was great. Jerry gave me a color card so I could think about color selection (there were many choices), and he and his team were always prompt and responsive. The gutters and roof look really nice. We had Jand J do the roof on our house about 4 years ago and although we got bids from several roofers for the garage, we went back to Jand J. We've recommended them to others and will continue to do so.

Jerry came out and gave us an estimate. He showed us plenty of samples to choose from. The price seemed reasonable. The work took about a day and a half and the workers were on time and professional. Overall a good experience and would recommend J and J. In fact, I have, to my sister!

The experience was good overall. The price seemed reasonable compared with other bids, and the workers were prompt and completed the work on time. I wish I'd taken more time thinking about what kind of flashing I wanted. The only problem we had was that there was some strange stain on the shingles over the back porch, which we can see from the 2nd floor. They said they would come and fix it, but never did.

OUR ROOF DECK WAS DRY ROTTED BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH VENTILATION AND INSULATION IN OUR ATTIC. WE HAD SEVEN ESTIMATES AND THIS COMPANY WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD LOOK IN THE ATTIC AND EXPLAIN WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AND ALSO GIVE US A BOTTOM LINE ESTIMATE. WE WERE REFERRED TO JERRY AND JOHN BY 5 DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO HAD NEW ROOFS PUT ON BY THEM THEY SHOULD BE STARS ON YOUR LIST!!!! JERRY AND JOHN ARE VERY PROMPT, FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY WORKED FOR 8 HOURS STRAIGHT AND CLEANED UP THEIR MESS AND DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB ON OUR ROOF. WE COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK.
