We have a large home, this summer my husband and his dad worked very hard in building a new deck in our back yard. It has been a nightmare trying to keep this house clean because of it! They are in and out, countless times of the day, rain or shine building the deck. Dust, dirt and who knows what else comes in and out all day.
Because of this, I have had someone come clean from time to time to try to get a head of things for me and I can do my best to maintain, add in two kids!
First of all, when I found that Sparkle and Shine was nearby I called for an estimate. I gave them the square footage of the level we wanted done and I added the two full bathrooms upstairs and asked that nothing else be done to keep the cost down. I was quoted $85. I thought this was great and hired them on the spot! The day before they came Elizabeth called to confirm and I asked again how much it would cost and she said $95? I thought this was strange but the first quote came from a different person so I let it go. Then the day comes and she does her cleaning and as she is walking out I ask how much? She replies $120. $120?! I am a bit shy and said nothing! Yes, this is my fault. Not hers. I should have said something but I didn't. I let her walk out confused on how different these estimates were, even though they are just estimates this was quit I but higher.
Now, this is when everything would have been ok if I had walked around and been happy with the work. But I was not, at all =/ To start off, she used a product on the wooden tables that were greasy. They left a weird film on every wooden table we have! Secondly, the mirrors were not done well at all. I am not sure if she used a old rag or mixed cleaners but there are streaks on our main floor bathroom mirror all a crossed it. The problem I have with this, is that I would have never ever left a job done like this. It actually shocks me how she just walked away. Thirdly, little things that every other service we have hired do, she did not do. She did not clean out the microwave? This is a basic service and should have been done. There were many other things like not cleaning off the main garbage can, crumbs on the floor and I still found hair in the kitchen?
So, that leads me to the 2 stars. I originally came on here, left the same review above but gave it three starts because Elizabeth was very nice. However! After I wrote her an email saying I wasn't satisfied and let them know we wouldn't be having them back she sent me a very rude email back. She said,"For a home as big as yours the home will never be spotless in one cleaning especially when it has not been cleaned in a long time by the home owner." Call me crazy, but that is horrible work ethic! To turn around and come back at the person who just paid you $120 is unacceptable! Granted, I know the job may not have been easy with the amount of work that has been done in our new home but that is why I needed the extra help! How offensive! She also said,"The bathrooms were very dirty with hands full of hair that I cleaned up." Well yes, there would be hair in the bathroom!? She told me that it took her three hours, as if this is too long? I had no set time limit on her. She choose to stay for three hours, not finish the job well, still charge me $120 and leave ok with that. I for one, am not ok with it.
So, needless to say I do not recommend this company. I feel very cheated by the various quotes that were given me. I was upset that I forked out $120 for the job she did and I am offended by the response that I was emailed. I would also like to add that at least three other companies have come in to the house, worked for the same amount of time and charged the same and did a spectacular job. Eco Clean being one of them! I would have rehired them this time around except they were not available to come before the party we are having this weekend.
Bad bad experience.
* Update* I would just like to add after seeing this companies response that I did not threaten anyone. After the offensive email I got from this company I let them know I would warn people about working with a company who emailed such an awful response to my complaint. My first email let them know that I wasn't satisfied, listed what was not done and that I would not have them back. After I got the email back saying they don't do the things I complained about , they said it must be me, that because I had mentioned I had hired other companies and then hired them proved I would not be satisfied with anyone. or I would be loyal to one place!? Please look at my other reviews here on Angies List. I have raving reviews of all types of work that we have had done with our new home. I love Angies list and I adore giving well deserved praise. But I can tell you I have never been so taken back by a company and offended. *
