I have had the extreme pleasure in having Dwight D. Denzer as my piano tuner/technician for over 30 years! He has tuned my piano and all the pianos at any church I have ever served in as a church musician. In all my years as a musician, I have never found another piano tuner/technician like Dwight. He brings a quality and many decades of experience and knowledge with him each time he looks at any instrument I have him contracted to do so. He is the ONLY piano technician in Springfield, Illinois, as well as, a Superb piano tuner. I know for a fact that Dwight attends piano tuner/technician guild meetings throughout the United States and is always continuing his education in the knowledge and craftsmanship of caring for the pianos he is privileged to serve on! One thing is for sure, Dwight will ALWAYS give you His Best and will tell you just what your instrument needs to bring it to its and quot;Best Tuning!and quot; When Dwight has been at my home or church, he leaves the instrument(s) in and quot;Perfect Tune!and quot; He is and quot; The Bestand quot; in my opinion and the quality of service that you receive and the and quot;Confidenceand quot; that you are receiving the and quot;Best Care Possibleand quot; continues to be Dwight's Trademark!

Dwight called me the next day, and we arranged a time to meet at my house to tune and check the piano. I'm very reluctant to have anyone do any regulation or action work until I get to know them a little since I'm extremely particular about my piano. Dwight came on the date and was a few minutes early. We went to the piano, and he spent about 20-30 minutes looking at it, both inside and outside. He made comments about a few things which I had not noticed (one string wrapped around the tuning pin in a peculiar manner, for example). He told me he thinks the piano is in very good condition. I had commented earlier about many tuners who tune with a pitch generator. He informed me he carries one too but uses it only as a tuning fork to get the true A 440.
It's been a long time sine I've seen a piano tuned so thoroughly. On his website he mentions he charges by the hour ($72 an hour), and a general tuning lasts for 1.5 hours ($108). He started promptly at 3:00pm. He spent a lot of time talking with me about the piano and about music in general. I also have an 8' Sabathil harpsichord, and he took a few minutes to look at it, not for tuning or professional comment, just out of curiosity. I tried to stay out of the room as much as possible during the actual tuning to keep from bothering him. He performed an excellent tuning of the piano, not just matching pitches with a pitch generator, but actually turning each string within the context of different harmonies.
In another 3 or 4 months I'll have him return for another tuning, and I'm going to have him remove the action, tighten all hardware, and give it a general over-hauling. I am very pleased with his work.
