Calhoun's Mohawk Floorz

Never again! We contracted Calhoun for stair and hallway carpet in February. We called 2 months later; "oh, yeah...I think it's back in the warehouse." Installers came and when they had finished 3/4 of it, they announced they were short of carpet. Carpet ordered...7 weeks later, we called...same thing. "It's here - in the warehouse." Scheduled installers...no show. Rescheduled..called to say they'd be late. 3 hours later, they called to say , "Sorry - wrong equipment on truck - reschedule." Finally showed up with mismeasured carpet AGAIN, and we waited another month before the carpet was finally finished. But guess what? They certainly didn't take any time to bill us. THINK CAREFULLY before you call these guys. The very slightly lower price was NOT worth this. Carpet finished end of JUNE.

In general it went quite well.  The quality of the tile was quite good and the installation quality was excellent.  Tile selection was a bit difficult since the sales person seemed disorganized.  Planning the job went well and they accommodated multiple contractor schedules quite well.  Our major problem was a lack of transitions between the kitchen and other rooms, the need for such transitions was never mentioned, but when this problem was raised they resolved it to our satisfaction.

Purchasing the carpet was a great experience however the installation did not go well. They left carpet shavings all over the carpet. They ran over the water line to the refrigerator when they pushed it back in after installing the carpet. The water left a puddle on the linoleum floor and some of the carpet. When I tried to pull the refrigerator back out to see where the hole was, it damaged the linoleum. When they put the trim back in, they split a part of the trim. I had to go out and buy new trim, re stain and install it. They took our fine china out of the cabinet and placed it in the kitchen sink and left it there. They needed to move the cabinet to install flooring. I called them to explain about the shavings they left. They said it was my job as the consumer to clean those up.

Sales rep was friendly, very knowledgeable about products and helpful in selection. Installers were prompt, quick, efficient and meticulous in work. Price was competitive with other bids but not significantly lower. Owner himself met with us to discuss price. I would definitely recommend this provider and would use their services again.
