"[Member Name Removed] I'm sorry for your less than desirable experience with the buying process. Our policy is not to put down competitors, but to show the differences in products and methods. Had we actually performed work for you I know you would have been pleased. We work hard to ensure customer satisfaction."
We had noticed over the last few winter months that water spots were appearing on ceiling toward the outer walls of our home. We had a few companies come in and take a look and provide estimates. Sears wanted over $20,000 to do our home which is a ranch 2,600 square foot home! We also had Sundown Exteriors provide us an estimate and they were far more reasonable than what Sears quoted. We attempted to have The Roofing Dog provide an estimate but both times we attempted to get information for them they were not helpful and acted like they didn?t want our business. We contacted Better Way Home Improvements and we pleased with how quickly we could get an appointment and their price.
When Paul came to our home and looked over our problem he was very friendly and professional. In the end he ended up with the same conclusion as Sears and Sundown, we needed a new roof. The current roof most likely didn?t have a water barrier when it was installed and air was not properly circulating. He provided us with a few different options to meet our needs. In the end we had the roof and gutters replaced. We placed our deposit for $1,600 on 3/19.
They came on 4/27 to replace the roof. Everything was going pretty well when they found out that we did have a water barrier before, but with the gutter removed they could see how the water was actually getting in. I can?t remember the name of it, but a piece of metal that was supposed to meet up with the roof had a gap allowing water to get in under the shingles. They didn?t have the material with them to fix the issue which is why the job was two days instead of one.
My hostas plants took a bit of a beating during the roof replacement (they fully recovered). They did a pretty good job cleaning up our yard, making sure it was free of nails. We did find a couple handful of nails around the house in the rocks (close to the house), but at least that wasn?t where the dog or kids play.
The one thing we didn?t know was that the new gutters were not being installed the same day as our roof, but days later. We had a couple of good rains between when the roof was installed and the gutters going up. Paul told us that another job was taking longer than expected but ours would be done quickly, it wouldn?t take any time at all to install them.
Once they were installed they looked great along with our new roof. We had a few minor complaints that Paul addressed for us. We have issues with water getting into the basement and the gutters didn?t go far enough away from the home. He had his gutter guy come back and put extenders so that it was where the old gutters let out. The other complaint was one of the downspout was placed right next to our bottom porch stair and it would just get flooded. Paul came himself on 7/25 and moved the down spout so that wouldn?t happen anymore.
Bottom line is Better Way Home Improvement has provided us with a good product and they have followed through every time. Paul has provided us with a good customer experience. I can?t say officially if the original problem has been fixed or not, that may not be realized until winter.
