I had a $14k new HVAC system installed in September 2021 and it was - and continues to be - a disaster. Soup to nuts this is the most incompetent, poorly-run, mismanaged, clown show of an HVAC company in the Chicagoland area. The incompetence of the owner Sam, their office staff, and their HVAC technicians is simply mindboggling. I am STILL - eight months later - working with a different competent HVAC contractor to fix all of the ways Topline botched the installation. Do yourself a favor and don’t even consider hiring them. I could write a novel about all of the ways they botched this installation, but I’ll stick to the highlights - and there are many: 1. Installation tech was very rude, barely spoke English, and got mad at me when I insisted the system needed an air filter (he was going to install a new $14k system without one because his boss told him to). 2. I scheduled installation weeks in advance; was promised installation would occur in one day - it took five. So I had no A/C for five days in the middle of a very hot week at the end of the summer. 3. Topline did not bother to measure the HVAC closet or new unit; $14k unit they sold me was WAY too big for the space, so the solution was to not install an air filter; when I said I needed a filter because of my allergies, they found a slightly smaller unit but it was still enormous so now I have a 1” filter instead of the prior 4” filter; this has caused a noticeable difference in inside air quality. 4. Topline techs did $10k worth of damage to my hardwood floors; they did not put down any floor protection and shoved heavy boxes, equipment and dropped tools on hardwood floors; left many giant scratches and one deep gouge; only put down drop cloths when I pointed out the damage and asked them to. 5. Topline techs did not fully charge A/C lines and installed system incorrectly so it was running BOTH A/C and heat in the winter, causing the inside A/C lines to ice up. Topline technician told me ice was because it was cold outside so the lines were cold. Had to hire someone else to actually identify and fix the problem. 6. Topline did not correctly install thermostat so there was no fan-only function. 7. Topline idiotically installed the humidifier above intake so the spray evaporates and does not humidify; house would not get above 18% humidity in Jan/Feb this year; Topline owner told me there was nothing he could do about it. Funny, because a competent contractor fixed the problem by moving the humidifier. 8. Customer service is terrible. If they say they will call you back, they don't. 9. I also hired them to do some electrical work because the A/C was causing a ground fault. Half the job was completed. The owner Sam then explicitly instructed the electrician not to come back to finish the job.

Excellent! We initially contacted Topline as our ceiling paint was cracking and bubbling and we suspected it was secondary to a duct above. We were able to be scheduled promptly. The Topline service expert Van V was on time and professional throughout the evaluation. He covered his shoes when entering our home. He did a thorough evaluation of the issue and determined it was likely secondary to an uninsulated duct and also explained other potential causes. He explained our options and gave us an estimate. He also explained their membership plan which was a great value! We were scheduled for soon after the initial evaluation. Van V arrived again with a co-technician on time. They were professional throughout. They covered the area where there would be potential dust and debris, worked neatly, and cleaned up beautifully. They serviced our furnace (part of the membership) and explained any issues every step of the way. He even identified that our humidifier wasn't working and figured out the cause and fixed it free of charge. I learned alot! He provided an estimate for any issue that could potentially be fixed without pressure. Both experts were very nice. It was a very positive experience. I would highly recommend them!

Had an 11-1pm appointment window. Called at 1230 to get an update, said the guy was running late.  They finally showed up at 330pm.  He was friendly.  Thoroughly checked my furnace, and answered any questions that I had.  Had never seen or used the ecobee 3 thermometer, and I told him that his company was one of the contractors on the ecobee 3 unit.

The tech was very nice. He reset the breaker on my compressor and said it was "hanging in there" for another year and to keep it until I absolutely had to replace it. He was incredibly honest and ethical in a situation where he could have easily sold me a new unit to replace my 10-year-old AC set up. I've been impressed by every tech that has come to work on the HVAC system in the past year, including an install of a new heating unit last fall.
