I called this vendor and informed him that both my tub and sink drains were draining very slowly. Mike Frenkel, the owner, stated that he could come later that day. I did not request emergency service. We agreed on 3pm. I drove up to my building at 2pm and saw Mike in my building's parking lot. He complained to me that he had called me three times and that he couldn't come at 3pm. I opted to let him do the service at 2pm.
Mike stated that since the drains were not completely blocked that he didn't have to rod the drains for $145.00, but that I could use something called Bioclean. When I asked about the price of the rodding and reminded him that he had charged only $95.00 to rod my toilet previously, he stated that the additional charge was due to rodding two drains. This contradicted what he previously told me about $95 being his hourly charge. I questioned him about whether Bioclean would take care of the issue and he clearly indicated that rodding and Bioclean could do the same thing. He charged me $50.00 for Bioclean. Note: Mike Frenkel is a dealer for Bioclean. Mike told me that I was to use the Bioclean for 5 days and the drains would be clear.
Well, by day three of using Bioclean, it was clear that my drains were becoming more blocked. At this point, it took over a hour for the tub to drain of water and I was up to my shins in water, when I took a shower. When I used the sink, dirty water backed up in the tub.
I called Mike and informed him that the drain was getting worse and he responded by stating that sometimes that happens. I advised him that I wanted the drains rodded. An appointment was scheduled for that day between 3-5:00pm. Mike did not show at 5:00 an and didn't even call. I called and he stated he was running late and could come at 6-7:00pm. I declined this and gave him feedback about neither showing up for the appointment or bothering to call. His tone was very irritable and he didn't apologize. Mike then called me at 8:15pm stating he could come and I again declined his services. Again his tone was irritable and frankly rude.
Several days later he sent me an email offering to give me back the money I paid for the Bioclean, in exchange for the unused portion of the Bioclean. He completely misrepresented in his email what happened. I was able to get my check back, but Mike had cut a portion of my check off and stood outside my building, cutting up part of the check with sissors!!!
This was a horrible experience. This vendor does not know his craft and he clearly thinks that ONLY HIS SCHEDULE
AND TIME ARE IMPORTANT! The story does have a good ending. I called several plumbers after this incident and they advised that the drains would need to be rodded. I checked on the Bioclean website and the directions for first time use for a blocked drain are to FIRST rod the drain and then to use Bioclean to remove any build-up inside the pipes. I ended up having C& D come in and they found a huge wad of hair. They removed it and did a couple of extra things for $130.00
They worked on it for 15 mins and got it to work. They said it was a loose connection. For that I was charged 145.00. I was just thrilled that I didn't need a new on which could cost about 1000.00. I paid them and was asked to fill out a survey which I did and I gave then fives all across the board. {highest score}. He asked if he could send another survey via email and once I filled it out I would receive a check for 20.00. Once received I submitted it, But changed my five to a four on pricing.I thought for the time they were out and no parts were needed the price was good but not great.3 wks later the heater wouldn't start again, so I called them back. When they arrived the heater started for them. After I explained that my husband and I could not get it to start for 3 days he decided to give me a quick lesson on how to operate the heater I have owned for about 10yrs.He didn't charge me but asked why I changed my survey to a 4 on pricing, I just told him the price wasn't ok and he asked me to change it online. At the time I had 7 kids in the pool and didn't need a debate over his prices so I agreed to change it. Later I tried to access the survey but once submitted you cant go back and retrieve it which I had to explain to him when he started calling me about it. 1 month later the heater wouldn't turn on again so yes I called him back. The final diagnosis was a new mother board 175.00 + labor for that day 95.00 + labor to install 85.00. They order the PC and came back on 09/09/2011. when the electrician was done he handed me his phone so his boss could give me the final amount I owed . 495.00 for the mother board and labor + 85.00 for the labor to install.Oh and he also said if I went online and changed the survey to a 5 on pricing he would send me 20.00.
When I told him that was not the price he quoted me he raised his voice and said {I told your husband when I spoke with him before, so you call him !!!!!} I really didn't know what to do so I paid him and when I spoke with my husband he said he never mentioned any figure close to 495.00 plus.
