Sinan quoted me flat prices for the sink and the rodding over the phone, and I remembered the toilet was running when he was here. He quoted me a price and fixed it. All prices were as quoted. Thank you!
Silan called me right away at 7:30 AM. He was very nice, and told me that i had done the right thing, and said that he could only be there sometime between 1 and 3 PM, which worked well into everyone's schedule. He said that he would call 30 minutes before to give me the heads up. We spoke breifly- as he had a few questions about the type of water heater, etc. At that point I had no idea that main feed was going to freeze up as well over night. At noon Silan called to tell me he was sending someone who would be there within, the next 45 minutes.
Sure enough- within precisely 45 minutes keith was at my door, and I had since leaned of the cold water blockage as well.
Keith, was one of the sweetest, patient, and positive individuals that I have encountered in the industry! He checked it all out listened to everything i said, quoted me 250 to replace the valve which also involved him driving over to pick up the necessary part, and return, as well as tell Silan about the problem with the cold water tap (the frozen line as well).
I had purchased a coil but had not gotten to the feed to attach it on my own, and I had a few extra insulation foams lying around the house. We agreed on a price to the added work on the line.
Over all both Keith and Silan were willing to find a fair price to simply take apart the faucet, and trouble shoot vs. Trying to fix the situation on either an hourly basis- by this I mean both fixing the immediacy of the situation, for this cold freeze as well as what should be done in the future to avoid continued problems. An a building owner, of a old 2-flat ca. 1880's, I have seen my fair share of plumbers over the years. We all know the work in not inexpesive-and certainly during these cold months, when there is a problem with water--one often times finds oneself at the contractors and workers mercy, as much they ours in trying to get to all of us who are in serious need. while 250 to replace a TPV on a water heater might seem high initially-They got out to me right away, and keith walked in the door at close to 1, and left me near to 3 to move onto his next job.
Keith- was a really nice guy, informative, practical, ENJOYED his work, had a good sense of humor, and his overall demeanor was comforting and warm on a very cold day! He shared his knowledge with me, patiently as we trouble shot, and Silan was great over the phone, doing his part as well! Plumbing is costly especially on on old building, and i've had a few really bad experiences over the years which have left me more than uncertain--but in this case, WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY SPENT!
