Stay away! They have mainly provided major headaches and disappointments since we engaged them in Dec 2009 for the millwork described above. Project dragged on many months longer than planned. Quality of every single deliverable (panels, cabinets, bookshelf, desk, doors, headboard system....) was sub-par (imprecise dimensions, uneven spacing of panels and doors; shoddy, uneven finish; missing or incorrect hardware) and needed at least re-work if not a total re-do. They were unresponsive to our many requests for corrections, so we finally fired them in March of 2011. Now we are faced with having someone else step in to correct their mistakes, so we are way over budget. Go elsewhere, if you care about time and money. Check out case# 94348306 at the Better Business Bureau (bbb dot org) for more details on this nightmare. Update: We ended up hiiring another woodworking pro to fix what A&Z messed up, at an added cost of over $15,000.
Description of Work: This project involved custom millwork of large panels of pressed bamboo. The entry hall was to be clad on both side walls with matching bamboo panels. The entry closet doors were to be matching panels, as was the powder room door opposite the closet doors, so when all doors were closed, the entry hall would look like a series of integrated panels. This work required too much precision for them to execute successfully, we now know. Another task was to build and install two sets of matching bamboo doors with invisible hinges. This task required several re-dos, and now we must live with certain compromises that would have been avoidable. A third task was to fabricate a desk and side table with matching bamboo finish. The result: the desk sits higher than spec'ed, its central drawer does not open as designed, the rear panel does not remove as designed (to access computer cables masked by panel), and the bamboo finish is bad quality (red glue seeps through seams of veneer). A fourth task was to build a custom headboard with integrated bamboo valence in the master bedroom. Again, finish is sub-par, with reddish streaks that cannot be removed because they are caused by the veneer glue. Other minor tasks included a cabinet in the living room, and a bookshelf in a guest room.
