Located northwest of Chicago, we service the western suburbs of Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Rockford, IL and cities in-between. SKV Construction has been a small business contractor for over 50 years. We'll do our very best to meet your needs for both quality and timing. I asked Stan from SKV construction to do two projects on my house. One was to patch part of the outside concrete on my foundation and the second one was to fix part of my basements foundation that had a minor leak (still wanted it fixed). Well for one the outside work cracked a day after his repair job so I called to ask him to fix it again to which he obliged. The second is when spring came back around this year around again I noticed it leaking again. So I called to ask why was it leaking again less than a year later when I paid him to fix it? He boldly claimed he never did the work in the first place. When I showed him the email correspondence of him agreeing to do the work and my before and after pictures he still held his ground falsifying his story saying he never even went in the house because I had a dog. I have never owned a dog. I proceeded to ask him what did the $900 work pay for and he claimed it was for minor outside minor concrete patchwork he completed (twice). I have a witness that he tried to patch the basement leak, the email where he agreed to do it, photographic proof of before and after his work, what more? Moral of the story is if you want an untrustworthy, shoddy job that is just going to need to be replaced a year later by a real professional, hire Stan from SKV Construction who does not stand by his work.

"What he is not telling you is that he did not want the leak fixed originally, just cosmetically repaired as it did not leak. Something that claimed it did not leak, whose repair was not to fix a leak, 10 months later leaks? kind of funny. I am not saying anything bad, am I? One type of concrete repair, one cosmetic, spread mortar with a trowel, all leaks or cracks through the wall are fixed under pressure, company policy. Sorry Ryan, too bad there is no free lunch. Responsiveness : 5 stars - Stan was very responsive to initial queries and follow-up. He also showed up on time when he said he would. A rare trait nowadays. Quality of work: 2 stars - Certain areas were done well but other areas are very sloppy and amateurish looking. The sealing looks professional on some cracks and other areas look like a weekend hack job. Value for money and Stans values : (-10 stars) - Stan had quoted a FULL three day job for roughly $2,400. The initial pricing seemed high but given three days work and our urgency, we were willing to pay a premium. The work was complete in less than one day (much less than 8 hours). We when ask Stan about the discrepancy between what he quoted and what the job actually required at a calculated rate of over $300/hour for cement repair crack work, he had the audacity to ask how much we made per hour. He obviously recognized the extreme over charging in this case and tired to change the topic. In subsequent communications with Stan he made comments about our house & lifestyle which is irrelevant. Highly suggest you see Google reviews for his comments to get an idea of his mindset when dealing with customers. Communication: 2-3 stars Stan does not use text and is fairly hard to understand occasionally. Email seems to be responsive, but does anyone still use email other than for documentation? We had to repeatedly remind Stan what we needed repaired. It was almost as the scope of work was variable or he forgot. If I had ability to upload photo I would. This site does not seem to have that capability.

"When you asked us to repair this as cheap as possible, 5% of the work needed on a project to get a million-dollar-plus home ready for the market, it's always a bit of a challenge. I wasn't allowed to use concrete, just sealant and caulk on pattern stamped stairs that were almost a hazard to walk on, plus, the patio that was in terrible shape. I will show this job to any prospective customer and they will agree that I did the best I could, I don't know how the three days came into the picture, he said I was making as much money as he did and that was too much! - Stan Vorgias, from skv const."

Stan did a great job repairing our foundation crack. It has been patched for years, but Stan did a great job reinforcing the crack with rods and fill. We are going to have him do some more concrete work in the near future. Update: Stan did the follow up garage repair and it looks great! Waterproofed for any future water.

This contractor did not provide a barrier to contain the mess and eliminate contaminants. He did not test for asbestos prior to beginning work, when I asked, he stated there was none. Now, I have asbestos throughout the home via air ducts. My dog is severely ill due to ingesting dust through smelling and licking his paws.

"Our insurance company sent a team to investigate the problem, asbestos was caused by customer removing vynl tile and dog walking in mastic, we did not grind or disturb concrete just injected crack repair material in floor, am waiting for consumer to remove this scandalous claim before we tale legal action. Stan, the owner of SKV Construction was very helpful, professional, and attentive to all the details of the work. We had a few minor repairs to make, but he didn't make me feel as if they were too small for him to take care of, and he quoted the work, set up an appointment, and finished in less than a week. All in all, a very satisfying experience.

I hire SKV construction on the 5/13/2020 to do a job on a crack fountain wall he drills four holes through and pumps styrofoam trying to stop the leak did not succeed he left telling me to wait for couple hours he would call me to see if it was still leaking which he call 7 hours later. the styrofoam came up to my window well I started to clean and notice that the foam went into my drain pipe. also, he was unprofessional calling me names. now I have to hire someone to come and clean his mess.

"Let's get the story straight! The foundation crack in question was covered with rays handy work making it invisible, the only way it could be repaired is to drill through the foundation so the material comes back in the crack (proven method) The window well drain in question was improperly installed by Ray and covered with leaves.I had no idea that it existed He was watching me drill the three holes through the foundation, I asked him later, why didn't you tell me about the hidden drain? he did the name calling. I'm out $180.00 for material. All he had to do was talk and this wouldn't have happened and both of us would have benefited. I can;t be responsible for something of this nature. Stan Vorgias"

The project was initially scheduled for last fall but it was to cold so it had to be delayed. Before I could reach out they followed up with me this spring, scheduled a date based on the weather, repaired everything requested to my satisfaction, and was within their initial quote.
