The total charge was $481.06, which included a $30 discount. They charged us for 3.75 hours of labor; parts were $71. The total time from 12:30 pm when they arrived, to 3:00 pm when they finished was 2.5 hours. The extra 1.25 hours must have been for travel time from their previous job to our home. (It should only take 30 minutes to travel from their office to our home.) Note that they charged for the hour spent getting the part.
I can't say the price was unfair, but I believe it was excessive given the work performed. Their pricing policy gives them an incentive to not carry parts with them, since they charge for the time spent getting them. I also feel that travel time should be billed at a lower rate, if at all.
- I recently had the pleasure of working with Kevin at Pipeline Plumbing. I had water coming back up in my basement and after explaining the situation and sending some pictures Kevin said that my plumbing was backed up and that it most likely just needed to be rodded. He came over that afternoon and rodded the plumbing lines. I felt like the price was fair and he cleaned up after himself, job well done. Kevin has also installed a shower bath surround in my master bath. Once again I thought the price was fair and the quality of the work was phenomenal.
