TEAFOE ROOFING

Horrible. My contractor paid $1,500 to Teafoe to be listed on our permit with the village. My contractor started doing work on the roof without the roofer being onsite to ensure that the roof was being appropriately re-sealed at the end of each day. As soon as it started to rain, our roof started to leak. The 2nd time it leaked, I called Teafoe and discussed the problem. I asked for him to meet me at the house with the contractor. This never happened. He was somewhat evasive and said that he needed to talk to the contractor. He said that he knew that we had experienced leaks but it was in a different area than where work had been done. He had been involved in some of the repairs but he was not clear as to what he had or had not done in the way of work on the roof. I followed up with voicemails and texts which Teafoe failed to respond to. We continued to ask for a meeting with the roofer. The third time it rained, we had a disaster in our house with garbage cans collecting water leaking from the roof. At this point, we fired the contractor and called in Showalter Roofing for emergency repairs. Showalter told us that the roof was a "nightmare" and whoever was working on it clearly didn't know what they were doing. Showalter charged us about $4K to patch up the leaks and said that the roof was now in such bad shape that we would require a completely new roof in the spring. While Showalter fixed the majority of the problem, they've been back at least 3 times to fix additional leaks that have sprung. It appeared that my contractor had some kind of deal established with Teafoe. We could not figure out what exactly was going on but the bottom line is that Teafoe was the roofer listed on the permit. My contractor confirmed that Teafoe was paid $1,500 and his license and insurance is on file with the village. I have asked the village to investigate.
