Steve was at a neighbor's house doing an estimate for hail damage repair. I asked him to check our roof. He indicated that there was indeed damage. He then assisted with contacting the insurance company and met with our adjuster. The two came to the quick conclusion that we had enough damage to replace our roof.. Steve and his team are extremely professional, quick and did an excellent job. I would definitely use his service in the future and recommend him to anyone in need of roof repairs.

The estimator responded quickly to my call and arrived promptly and as scheduled. He promised the roof would be completed within 2 weeks of the signed contract, and he was true to his word. The job was completed in one day, all the mess hauled away, and there was no damage to lawn or shrubbery. A very neat and professional job, and the cost several thousand dollars less than other estimates.

The guys from PRE arrived during the day and replaced the damaged trim (exact match). No hassle and no mess. We were not even home when the repairs were handled. Great job overall.
Description of Work: There was a severe thunderstorm with high winds a few weeks after the installation of trim on our home. During the storm a piece of the trim became loose and was damaged. One phone call to Steve and he dispatched his team to remedy the situation in short order. A new trim piece was installed (exact match) and it's good as new.

After he fixed the leak on the roof, he told them that with the next rainfall, if there should be leaks, to call and he would come to check the work. In the rain, he crawled in the attic and crawl space and found all to be dry. He told them that it could be their siding that was failing. He did not push them towards new siding.
Description of Work: Upon receiving your List for Des Moines, IA, I contacted Charlie Hershey. He was very prompt in returning my call (in California) and calling our son-in-law. He came out to our daughter and son-in-laws home, checked where they thought the leak was, and did some repair work.

Steve was excellent to work with--he promptly responded to our request for a quote, advised how to file insurance claim, worked with our insurance adjustor, and efficiently arranged for replacement of our roof. The workmanship was outstanding, the professionalism was top-rate. The quality of the materials and the speed, promptness and courtesy of the workers were well above average. Steve was very responsive to all our questions before, during, and after job completion. His explanations of how and why things were done were clear and very understandable. I would not hesitate to hire this company again, and I plan to keep them on the top of my contractor list for future work.

Mike from PR&E provided next day estimate on overall work and options. Work was scheduled promptly for the following Monday. Work was completed with cleanup between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM, or a single day. Roofing looks better than the house when it was new. Homeowners are pleased with the work and level of professionalism exhibited by all involved; but, especially by Mike. PR&E also provides all Bond and Insurance ifo at the time of estimate and covers all work with a 10 year warranty. Great company to work with. Price component of rating is marked as GOOD only because the work done by PR&E was more expensive than some other contractors. Mike was also available to address insurance agents and assessor in order to negotiate supplemental payment, although insurance refused. He has worked with other people in the past and been successful with their claims.
Description of Work: Homeowner's roof was damaged by a fallen tree limb, puncturing the roof and indoor ceiling with a 20" x 5" tear during a July thunderstorm. Services provided by PR&E included the following: (1) Examination of damaged roof and an assessment if entire roof should be replaced due to age as opposed to insurance company's assessment. (2) Estimate on the cost of repairs with inclusion of options for resolving northwestern vent problems during snow storms (leakage into attic) (3) Repair of roof if contract awarded. Final determination of work required: (1) Complete roofing tear-off. Patching could not be done due to previous roofing material company being out of business for 9 to 10 yers. (2) Plastic Weatherproofing layer installed. Previous roof did not have this. (3) New felt layer install. (4) New 50 yr Dow-Corning Shingles installed with 6 nails per sheet (6) Replacement of all utility vents with new seals installed. (7) Patching of damaged plywood. (8) Removal and patching of holes left by downside vents (9) Installation of new Roof Peak Vent system

Well we had a severe weather from april thru july this year 2011 -- I notice missing shingles and water leakage in attic From my research on this site and other sources I decide to give this Company a Call ... Wham Bam thank you Ma'am .. Steve Case was on the Case. 1:) Inspection and verification of storm Damage 2:) Rough estimate of Cost of replacement 3:) assistance of steps needed to submit a claim. 4:) Steve was able to assist me with the adjuster and thru his knowledge of Roofing was able to assist in securing an approval of my claim. 5:) Work was completed in a couple of days , Roofing crew seemed like little ants building a nest very hard working and knowledgeable taking care of not damaging any other structures. Cleaning up nails old roofing and other stuff ... Yeaaa I had a new roof and no mess. Throughout this process Steve continue to keep me abreast of progress and addressing any issues such as 300.00 wood damage not covered by insurance. 6:) Steve explained Warranties Now it is very important to me to be able to contact a real company instead of Storm Chasing contractors that disappear when a warranty claim is filed. I have complete confidence in this company honoring its warranty on work performed.

This is such a wonderful company!!!. Steve Case answered all my questions. As a single woman it is hard to know who to trust. Steve explained the insurance terms, what services he would provide and the timeline. I wish all companies had such great customer service. He kept me informed. My roof was completed in one day. His employes were kind, cleaned up the area well and protected my vegetable garden. This was such a painless process thanks to Steve and his employes. I have already recommended his company to others.
Description of Work: After storm damage in May I had a leak in my upstairs bedroom, water damage on carpet and broken light fixture. I did look at a few companies to fix my damage. Preferred Roofing and Exteriors excellence was seen in the initial interview. My duplex neighbor and I both agreed Preferred Roofing and Exteriors would be the company to help us.

Everything went as smooth as possible. Within three days of the insurance adjuster processing the claim, the crew replaced the roof. The roof was completed in one day. The siding was done a couple weeks later, as required by our schedule. The crews were courteous and professional. Mr. Case was available whenever I had questions and his attention ensured that we got exactly what we wanted throughout the entire process. We are completely satisfied with PXE and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I called Steve Case of Preferred Roofing and Exteriors to assess the condition of my roof. He came out and pointed out hail damage. Mr. Case then worked with me through the whole process, starting with the insurance adjuster visit. PXE replaced my roof, siding and painted the interior ceiling where there had been water stains.

I could not describe them with any higher praise. Their response was immediate. Once the insurance approved the replacement they were here and done in four hours. The roof looks fantastic. It makes our home look like a new house. They were professional, cleaned up all of their mess. They did not leave any loose material and cleaned up the yard. The people I talked to were friendly, but Steve Case was extremely friendly and helpful. It was like you were talking with a friend. Steve said once you are a customer you are always a customer. The roof was beautiful once it was done.

Steve Case came out and met with me initially to discuss potential hail damage. Steve examined the roof, identified damage, and then came back out to meet with the insurance adjustor to help communicate and explain what he found. Once the official claim was granted, Steve set up a time to perform the work, and all work was completed in one day. His crew was professional, courteous, and extremely hard working. They paid close attention to detail as our roof has a number of areas that required special attention. The crew did a tremendous job being mindful of the plants around the premises, and Steve did an excellent job following up to make sure our property was completely cleaned and restored to its original state. Steve was excellent to work with, and he provided excellent communication throughout the job. The entire group went above and beyond to make sure we had a positive experience. I have since recommended him to several neighbors and friends.

We received a few estimates to replace the vinyl siding with Hardie board on an addition on the back of our house.
Description of Work: We wanted to replace the vinyl siding on a back addition, to match some work by another contractor. Let me say that the original contractor did work to repair some hail damage. We decided to get some additional estimates to replace the siding on the other 2 sides of our addition. I was blown away by the attention and customer service that Steve provided. I have never worked with a contractor as diligent as Steve. Hew worked with our insurance company to recover additional worked that was missed with the 1st contractor. For some new roof damage, he did a quick repair, no charge to seal the leak. each day that I came home while the work was in progress, the job site was extremely neat with no signs of any work other than a few tools and the scaffolding to complete the next days work. Steve and his team did a great job. I have never felt better, more satisfied and less stressed than the job that Steve and his team did.

The repair was made promptly, and the crew was courteous.
Description of Work: I called Preferred Roofing and Exteriors to investigate a potential roof leak, as they had installed the roof on our garage and sunroom two years ago. Mike Kanaby called within four hours to schedule an appointment, and was able to come to the house the next morning. (He was running a bit behind schedule, but called to let me know.) He inspected the roof and discovered a number of small holes, probably made by squirrels, in the rubber membrane section of the roof of the sunroom and recommended that his crew patch the damaged area. He was able to schedule a crew to come that same day to patch the roof. The crew leader showed me digital photos on his cell phone to verify that the work was done. Considering the heavy rain and winds we've experienced this spring, I really appreciated the prompt service.

Steve, the fellow who does the estimate owns the company, answers the phone and before work begins shows up at the job site to make sure everything starts properly. Then Steve takes off in his spiffy white company truck to do business elsewhere. He returns at completion of the job to make sure everything is as it should be: the roof is in place and as advertised; the trash is picked up and in the truck and the ground cleared of nails--they use magnets, which impressed me more then it should have. Steve told me the job would take a day (our house has a 30X50ft footprint and does not have a roof complicated by the Victorians) and it did. The crew showed up at 7:30 in their spiffy black company pick-up, a trailer hooked onto its rear end for the trash. About the crew: great guys with a sense of humor who got along with each other and seemed to actually like Steve and he them. They waited until 8:00 to start work because they didn't want trouble with the neighbors (which is, I thought, an example of good thinking), took a half hour for lunch and at 4:30--after first paying Steve and giving him directions to Tommy Nevins--in their spiffy white and black trucks they were waving good bye to me and the wife and our dog. With the Preferred roofing team on their way to Nevins, the wife and I and dog walked the perimeter of our property. Out of 10,000 hostas (and this is the extent of the damage to the vegetation that tightly snuggles our house) we lost one. We held a brief service, nothing fancy.
Description of Work: Complete tear off of old roof shingles. Installation of Lifetime Owens Corning Oakridge shingles, 15 pound felt paper, replaced old mushroom vents, patched the holes and installed a continuous ridge line vent; new pipe jack and fireplace flashing. Removed all old roofing material from property by truck not Dumpster.

PRE guided us through the siding repair and replacement process, as well as assisting with locating exact materials to match the repair. Being unable to find the exact materials, we chose to replace the siding on the entire 2-story structure. We did not find a better price for the materials we selected (siding, trim, and house wrap). Their quote was for $13,000 and change. The processing of the insurance claim was the most difficult part of the entire process. Due to our concern of having the structure re-sided as soon as possible to secure it from the weather, we decided to pursue repairs while still working with the insurance company. Because of the favorable weather, PRE began removal of the siding the week of March 14. The materials arrived the evening before the work was to begin and the crew arrived on-time the next morning. The first day was devoted to preparing the work area and removing the existing siding. In just four days the entire structure was wrapped and sided. They completed every task that they identified in the estimate and all of the debris removed. This group is a class act. They are honest and sincere about the job they do. We got the best price and a job well done. We're proud of the results and we would not hesitate using them again. Happy Customers from Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
Description of Work: As a result of the "Blizzard of 2011" in the Chicago area during early February, the 70 MPH winds ripped siding from the east side of our 2-story house. Having used them in the past to replace our roof, we reached out to PRE (Preferred Roofing & Exteriors). They arrived promptly to examine the damage and to perform emergency repairs.

I had some hail damage to my restaurants roof last October. I was given a roofing company referral by my Insurance. I also called someone I knew to quote the job. They both were within hundreds of dollars on their bid. ( $ 26,000 for the roof and $10,000 for some siding damage) Months had gone by, then spring was here. Still more delays from my Insurance company. Then I found they were not going to pay much of the repair. I needed a roof, badly. I had a hard time believing that $26,000 was a fair price. I have done some house repairs before and have a pretty good idea of material and labor costs. So I called Preferred to get another quote, who was referred by a regular customer, that had his roof replaced recently by them. The same day "Steve" came over to give his estimate. . Their quote was $16,000 and change, and another $6000 for the siding replacement. I checked some references, which ALL were 100% positive and I went to see some actual roofs they had done in the area (3) recently as a few weeks earlier. The deal was agreed upon, and when the weather broke, Steve confirmed and had the supplies there the next morning. His crew showed up and by 9am they had 1/2 my roof removed. By the end of the day they had stripped and replaced the main roof and cleaned up the remains. Day two; they completed the ridge, removed and replaced a smaller roof, detailed the surrounding grounds and left with only the trace of having a NEW ROOF! Now, as a business owner, I have great respect for a company, that didn't play "insurance- get the money- games" when bidding the job. Just plain old sincerity and honesty. He did what they said... PERIOD. for a fair price. I will be having them replace my siding in the near future and would not hesitate to call them when I need a roof on any building. I am a very happy customer in Spring Grove.

The saleman was very friendly and was very easy to work with. Due to weather the job kept being put off but finally found a good day in August. The men did a great job, taking off an old antenna, dish and rebuilding our chimney. However, it is now February and we have found out that our attic isn't vented properly and now the entire attic has mold. The roofer came back to reinstall turbines (which they had removed) and also a solar fan to draw air out. Had the roofers originally just taken a look from the back of the house, they would and should have noticed that we needed vents to bring air in. We have to replace almost the entire attic and remove the brand new roof. I am not blaming them for the mold, but we could have corrected the air flow problem BEFORE installing a new roof. I am giving them an overall rating of fair, because they did a good job installing the new roof.

They were very professional from when we first contacted them. This was for an insurance claim and they handled the process the entire way. They were not pushy when we were making decisions regarding the material and colors to be used, and adjusted thier work schedule to meet any of our requests. The work they performed was top notch, and they were very pleasurable to work with. There were one or two very minor issues that they addressed immediately. I would highly recommend them.

I contacted them after inquiring with two of my neighbors who had recent roof replacements and were satisfied with their work. Steve Case, came out the same day to give a written estimate with an addtional estimate for an option to upgrade to architectural shingles. He explained the shingle upgrade and showed me the difference on homes on my street. Once I decided to go with them, he was able to schedule a start date within the week. The work was done on that date and complete in one day as promised. I'm very pleased with the results. Roofing is one of those things that kinda freaks me out, but I'm relieved I went with these guys. Some extra things that gave me confidence: I have a brick paver driveway and was concerned about potential damage the common dumpster could do to it - no problem, they have a special dumpster of their own that is on rubber wheels. The crew was very thorough with the clean-up afterwards - all bits of shingle and paper were cleaned from my yard and they went around the property with some kind of magnetic rake that picked up any roofing nails that might have remained - important, particularly since I have two dogs that roam the area. All in all, a very good experience, and relief to have it done properly.

After meeting with a representative of the company and obtaining a quote, we felt very confident we had chosen a company that possessed both a high level of integrity and experience. We scheduled the work to be performed while we were out of town. When we returned, we had a beautiful new roof on our home that had met and exceeded our expectations. The owner of the company, Steve Case, came out to our home for a follow up visit. We're so pleased with the level and quality of work, we have asked Steve to bid on additional remodeling projects on our home and have referred him to many of our friends. Great Lakes General Contracting is a company you can trust to be fair, highly skilled and reasonably priced.
