Preferred Roofing & Exteriors

My house had a fireplace and chimney installed as an add-on by the previous owner. The contractor that did the installation did not go deep enough into the ground when building the chimney, it was not supported properly. We never used the fireplace but noticed after many years that the chimney was pulling away from the house. We found out the chimney was swaying and it was only a matter of time before it fell. Preferred Roofing & Exteriors did some work for me the previous month so I mentioned it to Steve that I needed a contractor to do the work. He said his company could handle it. So I hired Steve to do the work. The crew arrived on Monday morning and by the end of the day everything was down inside and out. They boarded up the huge hole where the fireplace used to be and work began the next day to rebuild the wall. Charlie and Chris arrived Tuesday morning where they removed the boarded up hole and went to work. They started framing, removed and replaced aluminum siding, installed insulation, drywall and installed a wood ledge to match the rest of the room inside. When they were done you would never know there was a fireplace in my house. They did excellent work, I now have a beautiful new wall and siding. The building inspector seemed impressed as well. All I can say is it's been such a pleasure to work with Steve and his crew. They take pride in their work and it shows.

They were great. The guy who came was very knowledgeable. They were the first to come to give us a bid. Their bid is competitive.

Although I actually did not receive any services from Preferred I still want to let you know how kind and professional they are. I called Preferred after reading the excellent reviews on Angies list. From the phone call I can tell this company was extremely professional. They took down my information and within minutes, Steve called me back to set up an appointment for an estimate. Due to rain we had to keep rescheduling the appointment, but Steve then came on his day off! I was thoroughly impressed with him and his estimate was competitive with the others I received. Unfortunately a decision much out of my control was made to not go with preferred for our roof work. Steve was very understanding. However, given other circumstances, I would have definitely used Preferred for our roofing needs and I will continue to recommend them as a company. thanks!

Great job from start to finish. Crew showed up on time and finsihed early. Better than workmanlike, i would call them craftsmen. Steve Case does a terrific job monitoring every stage of the project. The crew are clearly experienced and very proficient in the replacement of roofs. All scrap materials were removed upon job completion and there was minimal intrusion into our dailey routine.

I am very impressed with the integrity and work ethic of Steve Case of Preferred Roofing & Exteriors. Other reviews describing him as a top-notch professional, sincere, and hard working are spot on. My house sustained hail damage from a storm on 4/28/12. The insurance adjustor determined that the roof on both the house and garage needed to be replaced. The hail also damaged some of the house siding, window wrap, downspouts, gutters and gutter guard, fascia, and a storage shed. I sent an email through Angie's List to Preferred Roofing & Exteriors on 5/20/12. I heard from Steve Case the next day and met with him on May 24th. He spent an hour checking the damage and going over the needed repairs, explaining the process of dealing with the insurance, and talking about his business practices and a little about himself and his family. He had shingle samples available and suggested an upgrade from the standard three-tab to an architectural shingle and split the difference in the extra cost over what the insurance would pay. He provided his cell number and said not to hesitate to call him if I had any questions or concerns about anything. He made a second visit out to the house a few days later just to deliver proof of insurance certificates that I had asked for. The shingles were delivered the next day and two days later, on a Saturday, his roofing crew arrived at 7:00 and by 3:30 they were done and gone. There were no surprises or mishaps. The cleanup was thorough. The new roof looks great. The upgraded shingles are a definite improvement. Steve stopped by at the start of the work and again after they were finished. He'd been managing several projects all day and looked exhausted. He said he'd be in touch in a few days to arrange for the rest of the hail damage repairs and to discuss another possible project relating to soffit vents. I recommend Steve and his company without hesitation.

After the great job Preferred Roofing did on my roof and siding a few months ago, I called them again to have them do some additional trim work that I needed done and just didn't have time to do myself. Not only were they my best estimate, but they once again did a fantastic job and took care of a couple additional things that I never would have even thought of if I had done the job myself. The crew at Preferred is punctual, friendly, very well priced, they do a great job and they clean up afterwards like you never knew they were there. Once again, Steve and Charlie were great!! I would (and have) recommend Preferred to anyone who needs work done on their home.

The process went extremely smooth. Our appointment was made and confirmed. Steve came out to the house and went over everything with my husband and I. They were the only company that gave us a thorough inspection before and after roof installation to point out all safety and structural concerns with our roof. Within days the crew was here hard at work. They use the highest-quality products and did a great job keeping the area around my house clean. They used their own dumpster/trailer and everything was hauled away when the job was complete. I can't say enough how great our new roof looks and again how smooth the process went. You won't find a more sincere and hardworking guy than Steve Case. He and I had been talking about replacing our roof back in 2009, when an unexpected and serious illness ended those plans. When I called to say that we were - finally! - ready to replace our roof this year, he didn't want to hear about the roof, he wanted to know how I was doing. He's just that kind of person. As you might expect, Steve and his team do things right. Steve went through all of the details with me ahead of time, and we reviewed every area where I had questions thoroughly. Steve made several recommendations that saved us money in the end. When the time for work came, everything about our job was done on time and on budget. When the unexpected arose, as it did when our garage turned out to have nothing adequate to which they could attach the new siding, the team took care of it without missing a beat. I didn't even know about it until someone mentioned it a few days later! After the job was finished, Steve and Charlie, his manager, were extremely responsive when I had questions or noticed little things I wanted to make sure were right. This is a company that understands the long range view; unhappy customers will hurt their business long after the jobs are completed and the money has changed hands. Even though they know their business, they know that their customers have to feel great about the work that was done, and they're happy to make sure that happens.

Steve is a top-notch professional. You can tell he runs his business with pride and a strong customer focus. I called on a Saturday, not even expecting to get in touch with anyone. Later that day I got a callback and a next day appointment on a Sunday! Steve was prompt, showing up as promised. The appointment was by far the most thorough of all the contractors I called for an estimate. Steve was very clear on all the details and offered much advice on all the options. He really took the time to understand the nature of the leak I had and convinced me that he could fix it right. He had a written quote available before he even left. The smoothness of the appointment was probably the number 1 reason for selecting Preferred Roofing and Exterior. The work was scheduled within a week of signing the contract. It went very smoothly. They were done in a day and the results look great.

These guys were punctual with getting me an estimate and even told me that I could probable get another two years with my current roof. The manager gave me a very thorough quote that was slightly more expensive than the other companies that I was talking with, but they included top of the line shingles and membrane for the flat roof. I was able to talk them down a little, Signed the contract, and they gave me a start date of three weeks. Instead, they were on the job in two weeks. The roofing material was dropped exactly where I asked when they called and said they we're delivering everything. The day of the job they came with 8 workers and were done in one day! The clean up was incredible as we had company over for a BBQ the next day and we couldn't even tell they had been there the day before except for a few nails here and there. All this included a complete tear off and full roof. They even removed all of the gutters and inspected the facia, fixed some downspouts, and replaced some roof sheeting. These guys were incredible!

To start with I got three estimates for the roofing job. Steve, the owner of Preferred Roofing, answered ever question I had. From the moment I met him, I felt comfortable with his expertise and knowledge of the job I needed done. His price was more than fair, but I have to say I had all but decided to use his company even before getting all the bids. The job was done promptly and took just exactly how long he estimated. His crew worked hard and completed the job and the clean up in a professional manner. I have already recommended him to my two sisters. I would not do that if I was not completely satisfied.

From the very start, Steve Case was ready to help. Steve met me with us very quickly when we needed him and put us immediately at ease in the process. In addition, he was a real advocate for my wife & I when dealing with our insurance company, in order to get our entire house sided, rather than simply replacing bits and pieces of the missing siding. I barely needed to talk to insurance. In addition, Steve volunteered to replace our outside lights (which were outdated and not working), once we picked appropriate replacements. Steve's work crew got started quickly, and the house looked beautiful when they finished the job. All in all, it was a great experience with a contractor that was efficient, pleasant, and a genuine advocate for us!

What a wonderful experience it was to find a contractor who really cares. When Steve Case (owner) came to give us the estimate he checked out the entire roof, took pictures to show us some of the damaged shingles, the roof was 22 years old with two layers and really needed to be replaced. The workers arrived on time and covered all the landscaping and patio with tarps before the tear off. They started taking off the roof and noticed some wood that was damaged and needed to be replaced, the roof was done in one day. When the workers left my house there was not one piece of debris in my yard. Excellent cleanup. Steve also fixed the roof overhang, I could not open my storm door all the way, the door now opens and he replaced the fake brick on the side of my entryway with vinyl siding. The soffit and fascia was installed two days later due to inclement weather and then came the gutters. Beautiful workmanship! Steve stopped by the job site multiple times to check things out, his quality manager Charlie was always on top of things. We've all heard of horror stories about contractors, you don't have to worry about Preferred Roofing & Exteriors they are a great bunch of people to work with, very professional and hardworking. Steve is always available by phone, email or he just pops over to answer any questions. I highly recommend this company....you won't be disappointed.

Steve and his crew were perfect. He came out to do the estimate and took the time to really explain everything to me . He was the only guy who actually checked inside (attic) to make sure there was no water damage already. His crew came out did the job in one day. I specifically mentioned to be careful of our gardens (we have expensive trees, some fragile plants) , Steve came out personally and made sure they were unaffected. It was a very pleasant, easy experience. Can't say enough. Start to finish it was great. This a very professional service, totally decent price and a cool guy to boot.

This was a 19-year old roof that had accumulated years of wear and needed replacement. I searched Angie's list for good roofers and solicited quotes. Preferred Roofing and Exteriors owner Steve Case dropped by on a Saturday and we inspected the attic and roof and discussed options. I found Steve very professional and prompt, always arriving exactly when he promised, and knowledgeable and able to clearly explain roofing and ventilation technology and options for the job. The crew came by the following Thursday and did a fantastic job, all in one day, bringing their own dumpster and completely cleaning up everything at the end of the day. The roof got a good check over the next few days, with weather delivering extended rain. No leaks, of course, and the roof looks great. I found the experience to be very straightforward and working with Preferred to be a pleasure with quick execution from start to finish.

They put a new roof on our house. From the first estimate they have been highly professional by being punctual, friendly, courteous and had good follow through. The type of experience you want to have when dealing with a service provider. Everything they said would happen did and they completed the job in a single day so we had no disruption. Steve and Charlie at Preferred Roofing and Exteriors were fantastic!! The job was completed on time and far exceeded my expectations. Here's the story... I had hail damage to my siding and roof, and my roof leaked in several places. I had gotten an approval on my insurance claim and had been trying to hire a roofing and siding contractor for nearly a year, and just had one bad experience after another. I had one contractor try to have me sign a blank contract and then even threatened to sue me if I didn't hire them!! I was actually contemplating letting my insurance claim expire and just not having the work done as it seemed like a less stressful path than dealing with roofing and siding contractors... then I found Preferred Roofing and Exteriors on Angies List and read some of the great reviews. I decided to call, and Steve (the owner) promptly called me back and took a great deal of time answering my questions and explaining some things to me, rather than just trying to sell me or manipulate me into hiring them by giving me false promises. Steve came out (on my schedule) to look over the house and gave me his assessment of the job. He gave me straight answers to my numerous questions, and I could tell he wasn't just blowing smoke like some of the other contractors I talked to. I did a great deal of research, checked BBB; checked with the state licensing board; contractors association; and called ALL of their referrals, and finally decided to hire Preferred. They started work within a couple days and had the roof done in ONE DAY!! I was amazed. I went up and checked it out and everything looked great. I didn't see anything that would give me any indication that any corners were cut at all. Then a couple days later, the siding showed up and the guys started working on that. The siding took a few days and the guys had to work around some inclement weather, but they did a really nice job and cleaned up really well. They even took care of a few other issues I had which weren't even part of the insurance claim. I had some rotten window molding which they replaced and they even replaced a window for me, which I purchased separately. Charlie, the supervisor, came by to check everything out and I could tell he was really taking his time to make sure everything was done properly. He even took care of a few extra things that he noticed, that I never would have like making sure the bathroom vents were properly hooked up in the attic. What really impressed me was that at no time did anyone at Preferred try to upsell me more stuff that I didn't need. In fact, I asked Steve about windows and he even suggested that mine weren't as bad as I thought and gave me some tips to get a little more life out of them!! Preferred was thorough, efficient, NEAT, polite, attentive... these guys really impressed me, and I am not easy to impress. If you need work done on your house, I would absolutely call Preferred Roofing and Exteriors and I have already recommended them to my neighbors who have come by to compliment how great my house looks now.

Steve came over and gave me an estimate in a very timely manor. He was very professional and showed pictures of my roof and the damage. He came back and got the roof done within 3-4 days of the estimate. The roof looks great and the whole experience was easy and fast. He also told me my roof had 3-5 years left on it. Another company said I needed a new roof now. I would use him again. I trust his professional advice.

The company doesn't just quote a price and do the work they treat the home owner as someone who had a real problem. Paul West was my initial contact and was very professional. I would recommend this roofing company to anyone who needs repairs or replacement of their roof or siding or gutters, etc. Charlie Hershey, foreman, made this "interesting hail event" in my life much more tolerable.The job quotation was definitely competitive and very reasonable. The materials used were excellent. The workers were very polite and efficient.

I have used Preferred Roofing the past two years. They were flexible and re-roofed my main roof last year and garage roof this year. Each experience with them has been good and the work is excellent.

Meet Steve on a Saturday and they began work the following Thursday! Fast, Professional, and really took the time to make sure our expectations were met. We had a issue or two (what job doesn't?) and he addressed them promptly without hesitation. May not be the cheapest, but the slightly extra cost was worth not having to have a hassle and the job was done right the first time.
