Preferred Roofing & Exteriors

Myself and 2 of my neighbors decided to hire Preferred Roofing to tear off and replace our roofs. On e of the neighbors had her roof done a couple of years ago by another company and had to have it completely redone because she was experiencing leaks. The salesperson who came to talk to all of us was very knowledgeable and we all felt confident about the choice we made. However when I called to talk to the salesperson a couple of days later to schedule the actual work, we found out that person was no longer with the company. I felt very uneasy about the whole thing, but the owner of the company, Steve Case, came right over to my house and reassured me that even though the person I had dealt with was gone, the work was going to be done as agreed upon and he would personally oversee it. Steve was great as was his crew. Our houses are in the city and there is not much room around the houses to set things up and work. But the crew was able to complete the work with a minimum of disruption to us and the other neighbotrs in the area. When they were done, the crews cleaned up everything meticulously. There was no debris or nails anywhere. I am extremely happy with my new roof and would recommend Steve and his company without hesitation. Steve was very customer service oriented.

I met with Steve (the owner) soon after I called to request an estimate. He went up on the roof and took pictures of the damaged areas with his iPad and showed them to me. He was able to give me a very detailed estimate in a matter of minutes (working from his truck). He also walked me through an online work sheet for a class action lawsuit that we may be a part of due to the relatively young age of our roof (only 15 years and it looked much older). His estimate was right on target and his crew would be able to do the roof within 3 days. What really blew me away was that, in addition to the estimate and available crew, the roof would be finished in one day! The crew is to be commended from start to finish. The foreman of the crew, Rodrigo, came to the door and introduced himself and gave a quick overview of what I could expect during the day. They got right to work, laying down tarps all around the house and then the work commenced. A very quiet group--no loud music, no yelling. Half way through the job, they were doing clean-up, putting the old shingles in a trailer to be towed away at the end of the day. When they finished the roof, they were meticulous about cleanup--grabbing stray debris that had floated in the trees, searching for nails, etc. A quality job from start to finish and I would highly recommend Preferred Roofing!

I met with Rick from Preferred Roofing and Exteriors. He was responsive and punctual to our meeting time. We discussed the work and future external jobs for the house. Although this company will not complete my current job, I would consider them for future work on my house.

Steve, the owner came out and gave us an estimate right away. The work started in a couple days and was finished in about 2 days. We had rotted boards we wanted removed and new gutters to be put up. They did a great job. No misshaps. Steve was very nice and has high standards.

Preferred Roofing came through the recommendation of a neighbor who also had roof damage.Nothing but the best can be said about this company. They show up on time, do high quality work, do a great clean up and have very accurate and hard working people on their staff. I was very reluctant at first hiring Steve Case and Preferred Roofing since we had a horrific experience with a builder as we were building this house 15 years ago.But I was proofed so wrong - Steve Case is a true professional and I would highly recommend his company for any large or small project.

Only my room extension needed a roof tear-off/re-shingle. I was concerned about finding a professional roofing company who would do a small job at a good rate. Preferred answers the phone live, and a salesman called me the same day, and came to view my home one day later. They informed me of a product recall of the shingles I had, which explained the unusual wear I'd observed. The quote was written on the spot and was pennies over the lower of two other bids. They included installing a roof exhaust to vent a bathroom which I brought up after the bid for no additional charge, and coordinated with my bathroom contractor to make sure the vent and placement were to his specifications. The biggest and best surprise was that Preferred did the entire job the following weekend. Bid to perfectly finished job in four days! The cleanup was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better job. Angie's list allowed me to accept Preferred's bid on the spot with confidence, and they over-delivered on my expectations

The whole experience was very good. I had a good feeling from the start of the project until it was completed. When I got home from work the roof was completed and everything was cleaned up, you wouldn't have known they were there, except for the beautiful new roof. Steve followed up a couple days later to see if I had any questions or concerns. I told him how happy I was with the work that they did and all of his help. I would definitely recommend Preferred Roofing and Exteriors to anyone needing a new roof.

The contract was drawn up by Mr. Case who is very professional and kind. The price was reasonable. They performed the replacement of the siding in a timely manner. The workers were professional and efficient. They worked until the entire job was completed and the the clean up was beyond fault. There was absolutely no debris left behind. The siding looks great. As an added bonus , there was no pressure for payment after the job was completed. In fact, I had to call and ask the company to pick up the payment.

I will begin by saying that I don't usually give glowing reviews on products or companies, however we had a great experience with Steve Case and his crew. The hail storm left us with a laundry list of things to repair. Steve examined our house 2 days after my initial call and took all the proper measurements. We had our quote "in hand" that day. I am happy to report that 8 days later our roof was completed. A few days later they came to replace all our gutters and downspouts. At this point we were put on hold by our insurance company because our siding had been discontinued. Once we got that straightened out Steve had the proper siding at out house within days. We also decided to put in a new garage service door. Charlie (Steve's project manager) was in charge of this project. He was absolutely fantastic to work with. He listened to all my concerns and was more than accommodating to finish the job above and beyond the standard. We had an electrician (who was NOT a Preferred employee) to install a light outside of this door and he sang Charlie's praises as well. He was pleasantly surprised at the craftsmanship and said,"It is so nice when one contractor makes it easy for another. He did a great job"! Charlie was also in charge of doing some custom prep work to our foundation so that we could finish our patio properly. He listened to all my concerns and after much deliberating we devised a plan. This project turned out looking very professional. Anyone who gets the opportunity to work with Charlie, I am certain, will be delighted with his quality of work. Once they had completed our house Steve Case called the next day to follow up and answer any questions we may have. We are so thankful that we picked the right company, especially listening to our neighbors gripe about their services, or should I say lack of. Most of our neighbors used companies other than Preferred and one of our neighbors got the wrong color of shingles put on after waiting 2 months...another neighbor is still waiting for siding and won't get it for at least another month. When choosing a contractor I expect great quality work with superior service. We got that with Preferred Roofing and Exteriors!

We had our electric line pull out of our house in a storm and need the shingles around that area repaired. We called and spoke to our local service guy who took the time to go over the issue and said he'd go by the house and call back with a quote. We never heard from him. Upon leaving a poor review on Angie's List Steve followed up with us and came out the very next morning to give us a quote, and he also mentioned that the employee who had not responded to us has been let go. Steve was knowledgeable and we appreciate him following up with us.

Steve from Preferred roofing & exteriors was one of several quotes I received to replace my roof. His price was very competitive and he offered exactly the materials and colors I was looking for. What impressed me most was his follow-up and professionalism. He arrived on time for both the initial estimate and the follow up meeting to finalize the details of the job. During the initial estimate he was the only estimator of any of the companies I received quotes from to actually climb up on the roof to inspect it closely. Once all the details were final, his team started on schedule just a few days later and completed the job as promised. I was especially happy with the clean up the team did. While this was a 2 day job, there was literally no scraps or debris around the house at the completion of their work either day!. I made a special request that they set aside a few of the old shingles because I needed to make a warranty claim against the original shingle manufacturer, and they did that for me as well. He even gave me the website where I could submit my claim. The original shingles were Organic Shingles that had deteriorated prematurely and now has a class action settlement in place. Steve was very knowledgeable about that suit and provided additional guidance to help. The final result is excellent and my experience was first rate. Steve and his team are professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. And while I was dreading this project, the house looks fantastic!

I called Steve due to his excellent rating and many positive reviews on Angie's list. I have to say he was the best choice I could make. We had a Saturday appointment to do an estimate on a new roof for my home and my Father's home. He showed up when he said he would be here, was very professional and friendly. He described everything we needed to have done and explained how they would do it and showed us materials they would use. My Father's roof was a partial insurance claim from storm damage, plus he was having his home a 21/2 car detached garage and his back porch done. The back porch had been leaking and it had to be torn off with all the wood replaced on it. I was amazed when the were able to start the work on Wednesday and completely finished the job on Wednesday on my Father's home. It looks amazing! His crew were such hard workers and very professional, when they left there was nothing left behind we could not even find a nail left on the ground. Though it did not work out right now financially for my roof to be done, Steve knew we have a leak and came to my home with a couple of his crew and he fixed the leak so we can hold off until Spring to have our roof done( just guess who will be doing it) I cannot say enough about Steve and his company. They know their stuff and are very skilled, no scrimping with them. They work on your home like it was their own. I would recommend Preferred Roofing & Exteriors to anyone that I know with complete confidence that they will be happy with what ever work they hire them to do. Steve was our 3rd and last estimate and I do believe in this case we saved the best for last.

After a 6-week drought, when it finally did rain, it rained right into my living room. I went on Angie's List searching for a roofing contractor. After reading several reviews, I called Preferred Roofing first. I had planned to get 3-4 estimates before signing a contract. Mike Creuziger promptly contacted me and came out to inspect my roof and give me an estimate. He took a video of the condition of the roof and explained his findings as I viewed the video. He gave me an estimate and told me exactly what to expect in terms of the materials that would be used and how the work would be done and supervised. After talking to him I felt so confident that he would make sure that everything he promised me would be delivered, I signed the contract and gave him a 50% down payment, without getting any other estimates. The only problem was that it would be about 3 weeks before they could do my roof. Mike had already put his ladder back on his vehicle, but he went back up on my roof and caulked several spots that he thought might be the source of my leak. It rained that night. Mike called the next morning to see if the caulking had stopped the leak. It didn't. He came back to my house within a half hour and went up into my hot attic (tight squeeze) on a 100 degree day. He then went up on my roof again and nailed two tarps in place, with 2x4s to keep them from blowing off. It rained again after that, but the tarps were secure and kept the rain out. Mike C. arrived promptly on the 8th of August and got the crew immediately engaged in tearing off the old shingles. They moved plants, patio furniture, and anything else that might be damaged away from the house, and put tarps down to catch the debris from the old roof. The crew worked from 7 a.m. until the job was done. I had to leave at 6:15 p.m. and they were still there. Mike had to leave earlier to do another estimate, so I had to find someone in the crew who could understand English to make sure they locked the gate to the backyard when they left. The next day Mike and the gutter crew arrived. Mike did an inspection of my driveway and yard and found several roofing nails that the roofing crew had overlooked. He was not happy. He made a phone call and told me that they (the roofers) would be back that day to go over the lawn and driveway with a magnet to search for stray nails. The gutter crew (different from the roofing crew) worked efficiently in a light rain and got the job done before the sky really opened up later that afternoon. A couple of guys from the roofing crew did come back late in the afternoon (in the rain) and did another sweep of my yard looking for nails. This was after the gutter crew and Mike had completed the job and left for the day. Again, the language barrier gave me some concern and I'm not entirely sure that the young man I spoke to understood that I wanted him to also check my neighbor's drive (which closely abuts my lawn) for nails. I have yet to take a look myself to see if they got them all, but I will. Added note on the gutter crew: One of the guys noticed that the downspout on the garage had become separated from the gutter above it. The garage was not part of our deal. He asked if I minded if he reconnected that downspout. Are you kidding me! How many people today ask if they can do MORE than is expected? In 23 years in this house, this isn't the first time I've had major work done; but it IS the first time that the contractor delivered everything that he promised me and MORE. My past experiences with two different fencing contractors; a roofer for the garage; a garage door replacement; tree removal; and some other projects is that they were long on promises and short on delivery. They promised filet mignon and delivered hamburger. Mike Creuziger went "above and beyond" to insure my satisfaction AFTER I signed on the dotted line. Thank you, Mike, for keeping me dry while I waited for my work date and for restoring my faith in building and home improvement contractors. You're an asset to the industry.

Steve Case came out to check out our house and worked with our insurance company for getting the repairs done. He came and gave us assurances that he would be available for any question, and would he would be on site each day. He only came when called but was friendly and easy to get along with; however, as the job progressed he was less available to talk to. The crew that worked on the roof did not speak english and there was no one here for us to talk to. I was also told that the site would be cleaned up, but found nails around the house, and pieces of shingles on the ground. I also found what looked to be new nails on the ground up to a week after they finished. The siding, gutter, screen and front door repair was good. The only problem I had with the door repair was the covering they put around the screen had gaps in it, and my door handle was dented on the outside. This was not noticed until after payment was made, and I did not contact them about it. They also did my shed roof on another day then my house roof, which I had no problem with. For the most part all members of Preferred Roofing and Exteriors were professional and hard working. This was in the aftermath of a huge storm and they were very busy at the time, which might have accounted for some of the problems I had.

Mr. Cooper from Preferred Roofing and Exteriors came promptly to discuss all of our needs. Three separate projects were needed to be done following hail damage. He made some helpful suggestions. The crews that took care or each issue arrived at the time promised. They were polite and worked long and hard in the horribly hot weather. They did a good job of cleaning up afterwards.

Steve showed up on time and had an estimate ready in no time. Even though he was swamped with business he was able to get to my roof the following week. HIs crew of 7 men showed up about 7:30 AM and started working. Steve came by a little later to check on their progress. He climbed one of the ladders and encouraged his men for the good job they were doing. It was about 104 degrees that day, I can't imagine how hot it was on the roof. The men worked like a well tuned vehicle, without stopping for a break. At noon I bought lunch and they came down for a few minutes to eat. Determined to finish in one day, they worked until dark. Steve came back several time to see how they were doing. They succeeded in finishing and cleaning up before they left. Outstanding job! Where do you find a company or employees like this? Call Steve and you will find out for yourself. 5 stars plus!! Thank you Angies's list!!

The job was performed in a time manner and the work was well done. Even the clean up was well done. There was no sign of any debris after the job. Mr. Case was very helpful and professional. I even recommended this company to my sister who had similar damage to her home. She too was impressed with the service and in turn has recommended this company to several people.

They strive to provide dependable and expert service at a competitive price. Everything was completed in a timely manner with little inconvenience and the clean up after the job was great.

As part of our search for a quality roofer, we contacted Bob Kozuch at Preferred roofing. Bob came out at the scheduled time and gave us a thorough review of what was needed. He took the time to look both the roof areas as well as the attic and took photos to show us what he found. It quickly became apparent that in addition to new shingles we need better venting in the attic. Bob put together a proposal that included ridge venting, venting for the bathroom fans and an attic fan to improve air flow. After comparing their proposal to another bid, we selected Preferred and the work was scheduled a few days later. The roofing job for the house, attached porch and garage (including several sheets of replacement decking) was efficiently completed in one day. Bob did a nice job in answering our questions and addressing a concern related to the corner of the garage. We were very impressed with the thoroughness of the clean up at the end of the day. There was a lot of material to remove (we had two layers of shingles) and they did a great job removing all the loose nails, plywood scraps and shingle pieces. We are happy with the work and the new roof looks great.

I sent an email to Preferred Roofing and Exteriors and within minutes I received a call from Steve Case. He was driving out of town but turned around and was at our house within an hour. He surveyed the storm damage to our house and provided an estimate. He took his time and explained the process and told us not to worry he would work with the insurance company--he was true to his word. Steve was anxious to get started on installing the new roof, siding and gutters on our house, but performed the work around our schedule since we were going to be out of town on vacation. I must confess, I don't have a lot of trust in contractors, but Steve is a rare exception. He is honest and dependable. Our house looks great and I would recommend PR&E and feel confident the job would be done right.

The company was able to send the owner, Steve Case, to my house the day after I called for an inspection and estimate for a roof replacement. Steve arrived at my house on time and performed an inspection by climbing onto the roof and taking pictures of the damage, which he allowed me to review while yet at my house. After reviewing the pictures, I was convinced that I needed to replace the entire roof. He offered to assist me with the process of filing a claim and even stayed at my house while I called the insurance company. The insurance company offered to send their adjuster to my house on the following Sunday, but provided a 3 hour time window in which the adjuster would arrive. I wanted Steve to be at my house during the time of the adjuster's visit, but I did not expect that he would be willing to come back to my house on a Sunday. To my surprise, Steve not only agreed to meet the adjuster at my house on that Sunday, but even arrived an hour prior to the start of the 3 hour window to ensure that he would be there whenever the adjuster arrived. Steve met with the adjuster and was able to convince him that I was a candidate for a complete roof replacement pursuant to the terms of my homeowners insurance policy; including payment of the deductible. A week later members of Steve's crew arrived at my house to perform the replacement. Initially, Steve did not anticipate that they'd be able to replace the gutters on the same day that the roof was replaced. However, in an effort to ensure my satisfaction, he was able to get the gutter crew to my house to replace the gutters on the same day that the roof work was completed. Thanks to Steve, I now have a much needed new roof, gutters, and fascia. I'm much appreciative of Preferred Roofing's service and the extent to which the owner sought to ensure my complete satisfaction.

We were very pleased with the end result of the roof, gutters and siding. Steve promised up front that his crew would come install the new roof within a week, and he kept his word. Our neighbors - the ones who went with the big name company - many waited with signs in their years for over a month to get theirs installed. We had ours within a week! He was very fair in his pricing, and seemed quite knowledgeable about the products he uses (as well as what he won't use). He allayed some concerns we had about specific roofing shingles, with great professionalism. Steve addressed our questions and concerns with immediacy, and a warm smile. I feel confident that we will be happy to recommend Steve and his crew if we learn of anyone who needs similar work. In fact, I've already passed his card on :-) I have a very large family, so he better be prepared to work hard.

Although I did not hire this firm to do the work (I could only pick one of my 4 contractors), they were prompt, professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I would certainly recommend considering them for any roofing project you may have.

We asked Preferred to give us an estimate for adding a layer of architectural shingles to the roof of our 100+ year old victorian duplex. He came out with his team who got up on the roof for a thorough look and then gave us a very fair price with lots of good ideas on how to address some of the particular quirks of our steeply pitched roof. I would have been happy to give him the job, but our neighbor who owns the other side of the duplex and with whom we were making the roof decision preferred to work with a company that was closer to our town. I really like the folks at Preferred and would feel very comfortable reaching out to them in the future.

Steve returned my call quickly even on a Saturday. He came out promptly for an estimate. His crew actually worked the repair in the following afternoon. They repaired the section and cleaned up in 2 hours. Very professional and courteous.
