Overall, very pleased with the service, the product and workmanship. Steve, has been excellent to work with, he is very responsive to your needs and when it was actually time for the job to be done, everything went to schedule. An hour before the guys showed up, there was the delivery of the product. When the guys arrived, there was no delay, they had everything they needed to do the job and they got it done. Before any work was done on the roof itself, the crew put down tarp around my house to catch any falling debris . At the end of the day, the tarps were gently removed and the debris discarded. Although, I was not home to witness myself, my neighbor told me how the crew went around the house 3-4 times to make sure they had removed all debris, nails whatever. At the end of the day, there was a new roof on the house, and there was nothing left behind to indicate they were even here. It was that clean. On another note, un-like some of the other companies I spoke with prior to selecting Preferred, Steve, required no money up front, to even begin the job. It was all about, getting the roof on and making me 100% satisfied. I would highly recommend Steve and Preferred. They did a very, very nice job!

Perhaps above all I appreciated the communication from Steve regarding the work. He responded very promptly to my e-mails, and he returned my phone calls in a very timely fashion. Also, I was a bit amazed that the work could be scheduled for the day after the estimate. The workmen arrived very punctually and got to work immediately. I also appreciated how they accommodated my need to leave the house and back out of my garage. Overall, the work that was completed was excellent. I would highly recommend Preferred Roofing and Exteriors to others.

I scheduled an estimate for a new roof. This company was supposed to come and called an hour before our scheduled meeting to say they were running late and arrived 2 hours later only to tell me they didn't have time to do the estimate but would come back later in the day. Then, they came back at the agreed upon time but said they'd need a ladder to see the roof as it was two floors up. The size/style of the house was was given on the phone when the estimate was scheduled. I don't understand why a roofer estimator didn't bring a ladder. He said he'd come back two days later with his own ladder and provide an estimate but I never heard back. Eventually I called to see what happened and he said he'd have the estimate provided via email. I checked my spam folder and there was no estimate. It's been a week since then and still nothing. After this many issues, its pretty clear that they are not reliable to even consider working with. Maybe they just don't want business.

The owner, Steve Case, was back in touch the same day I requested a quote. Since I live out of state, I had lots of questions and he did an awsome job in educating and explaing what his company can and would do for me. He was prompt, dependable and did what he said he would do. My mother-in-law is extremely pleased with the new roof and has had numerous compliments from neighbors and friends. I was introduced to Steve Case through another homeowner in my subdivision who went through a total roof replacement due to hail damage. My neighbor found Steve and his company through Angie's List. My experience was a bit unusual as I am out of the country living currently and my house is currently occupied with tenants, so I had to do everything via email and phone with a 13 hour time zone gap. Steve was fantastic from the beginning. I submitted an insurance claim to have my roof inspected due to hail damage one night before going to bed in Asia (~8am CST). I subsequently had contacted Steve,right after submitting the claim, told him my situation and mentioned that I had given his name to my insurance company as a preferred contractor to use in the case of needed repair (I trusted my neighbor's experience and his assessment of reviews on Angie's list for Steve and his company, without ever formally talking to Steve in advance). By the time I woke up in the morning, my insurance claim had been reviewed, and an adjuster had been on site, Steve walked through the damages onsite with the adjuster that same day and I was notified by my insurance company that they were drawing up an estimate. This all happened within 8 hours and with me being 9,500 miles away from my home. Talk about punctual! Steve provided me details and confirmation all along the way and that he was in contact with the insurance adjuster, had been onsite to review damages with the adjuster and that they were in the next phase of estimating for a quote to complete the job. This provided me great peace of mind being on the other side of the world while all this happened. Steve was punctual with his call response and email response at all times. He was accommodating to my tenants demands of when the work could be completed and the work was performed to professional standards and looks fantastic (as I recently have come back to the US and had an opportunity to see the house). Having all this done site unseen was a bit daunting, but Steve eased my concerns. I would use Steve over and over again with any housing and exteriors needs and would recommend him to anyone that asks for a fantastic roofing, exteriors and housing contractor in the Western Chicago suburb area. Overall the project went very well and as expected. Despite the bitter cold there no delays. The work was done very well. Steve would come to inspect the site himself multiple times. Any questions or concerns I had were promptly answered and/or addressed. In fact despite the project being finished in Feb and he has already been paid in full, when I had a concern about one of the windows recently he promptly came out to inspect and address the issue. The windows and siding look great. Between the roof/siding and new windows the look of the house has improved significantly.

They say a doctor makes the worst patient, I believe its the same with a DIY'er having people do work on his house. From the get go Steve was patient and answered all my questions patiently. He gave me a quick estimate and was very good about making himself available to work with the insurance adjuster even at the last minute. His crew was also great. The roofers were fast and efficient and the siding guys he has are top notch. They especially were patient with me when I had questions or came outside just "to see how it was going". The siding crew worked late hours and even some weekends to get the work done as quickly as possible. Steve was also very good about keeping me in the loop as far as who would be at my house when and what the status was of materials that were on order. All in all a great experience for one of my first major home repairs (house was built in 2005) and I would and have recommended Steve not only to my neighbors but friends.

This is the second job Preferred has done for us. Last year we needed mold remediation done to our roof and attic. It was a huge job. All the workers were pleasant and tried to be as unintrusive as possible. Each evening they left my house spotless only leaving what was absolutely necessary. When the job was done, my house was impeccable. The owner told me that he does other types of work on homes, so when we decided to put in new windows we called Preferred to assist with the general contracting work. They made suggestions of window distributors for us to call and brought out the distributor they usually work with. We were also getting the house painted inside and out. Preferred is managing that project for us, as well. Their pricing was a bit higher, but not enough to give up the security of knowing we were in the best hands possible. They started work this week, and again, the house is immaculate and the workers and project manager wonderful. We do have the same project manager as last year. The reason for the B rating on promptness is that on both projects we got a bit of a later start than anticipated. However, once the projects were underway, they were at my house promptly at 8 and worked through the day sometimes until dark. When there was an issue (generally weather related), I always had a call giving me a heads up with numerous apologies. We aren't quite finished yet with this project, but I can honestly say that not another piece of work will be done on my house without consulting Preferred first. They give me honest answers regarding where to put the dollars.

Steve Case and his crew just completed a teardown and reroof on my home. I actually found PRxE on Angie?s List and was impressed with the number of positive reviews. One of my biggest pet peeves with hiring contractors of any kind is contacting them, leaving a message and not getting a callback. This was not the case with PRxE, someone actually answered the phone and by the end of the day I received a call from Steve Case, wow! Within the next day or two he was out to the house and a day or so after that I had the estimate in my hands. Steve was extremely professional and knowledgeable in explaining the various products that were included in the quote. I was a bit concerned about the choosing the right color and he was more than accommodating with supplying samples of different shingles, even delivering them on a Sunday afternoon. Still not completely convinced of color selection yet, he brought over more samples and placed them up on various sections of the roof for me to view in different light. I?m glad I did because I don?t think I would have been happy with my original selection. The work was scheduled within a week of signing the contract, which was good because it did not give me time to second-guess my color selection! The crew arrived promptly each day, carefully made the arrangements to protect my new landscaping that was just installed a few weeks prior before proceeding with the job. Steve swung by a couple times a day to check out the progress. We did have a rain delay, but that?s how things go. The crew members were very courteous and extremely hardworking. We were impressed with their thoroughness of the cleanup at the end of each long, hard day! Everything considered, I would highly recommend Steve Case of PRxE to anyone in need of exterior work done on their home.

Preferred could not have been more easy to work with. We called and within 3 hours received a return call. Within 3 days we had a rep on site . They made all the necessary repairs and went above what my expectations were. I hope i dont need any more work on my house but if i do then Preferred will be getting a call.

We thought preferred roofing did an excellent job on our roof. We were very pleased with the work done. The workers were very polite, courteous and did the work in a timely manner. They arrived on time and were very professional. It was great to work with Mr. Case as well. He was very professional and came out and gave us an estimate in advance of the work being done. He was very knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our questions. We would highly recommend his team.

I hired Steve to fix the damage caused a recent hail storm to our roof, gutters and windows. We had several contractors driving by our area at that time and offering to take a look at the roof and do the job. But I was not sure who to trust or hire and so went looking on Angie's List. Steve was one of the contractors I contacted and he was very prompt in returning my call (on a Sunday too). He came over to assess the damage and told us in detail what had to be replaced and why. He said his company would work within the estimate given by the insurance company and work with them if anything else needed to be done. He also came over when the insurance company's adjuster came for the inspection so that he could make sure that the adjuster did not miss any damage. Steve also went into the attic of our house to inspect for any water damage from the inside (there was none). I signed the contract with him and within the next few days he had his crew show up and start on the roof replacement. The crew was professional, did a good job replacing the shingles and in cleaning up after the job. They had also put tarps over the landscaping and our deck while they were working on the roof to protect them from debris (shingles, nails etc.). The brand/color of the shingles was exactly what we had picked. Another crew then came a few days later to replace the gutter and did a good job for that also. I had a little delay in issuing the check to Steve because the insurance company's check needed to be endorsed by my mortgage company, but Steve was very patient and understanding during this process even though he had already completed that part of the job. I am now waiting for a few windows to be replaced which would be the last part of this job. Steve is very professional and knowledgeable about this business and I have been very happy with his service and would hire him again.

After the severe hail storm in our area this Spring, numerous homes needed new roofs. I remembered Steve, from Preferred Roofing, had done my neighbor's roof last year after that big storm. At that time, I went over to my neighbor's home during the new roof install - and asked Steve to look at my roof for damage. Really nice and polite guy, came right over, went up on the roof, and told me my roof was fine. I was impressed with his honesty, and impressed with the job he did on my neighbors home. My neighbor is totally satisfied as well. After this year's hail damage, I remembered Steve and Preferred, so I called for an estimate. He gave me an estimate - and rapidly and expertly completed the new roof and gutters. I was so pleased with the professional service provided by Preferred that I decided to do a review. I normally don't do reviews. In any event, when I went to leave the review, I noticed a terrible review on Preferred done this month. I decided to share my thoughts - to kind of offer a different assessment (but consistent with all other reviews - except for the one terrible review) of Steve and his work. Gosh, I believe that ONE bad review should be taken in the context of all of the other "A" reviews. Nothing in that horrible review is anything like the Steve Case and Preferred Roofing performance that I know. Steve is one of the nicest contractors I have met. A true pro. And can't imagine him being rude to anyone. You might want to read all of the other A reviews - and draw your own conclusions. Then read that horrible review and again, draw your own conclusions. Highly recommend Steve and Preferred Roofing.

We had our roof done by Preferred. Preferred met and exceeded our expectations. We had been approached by many storm chasers after a hail storm, whose primary concern seemed to be to get us to sign poorly worded contracts in an effort to quickly lock up our insurance money. Steve, the owner of preferred, has vast knowledge beyond roofing and siding, having been a home builder in previous years. Roofing and siding are among only a couple of the areas Steve knows well. Steve was hands on in every respect. He insisted on seeing the damage from both the inside and out, and inspected our attic to make sure he could best advise us on our roofing plans. In the end, what he observed on the inside led to a decision to extend the ice shield in an effort to prevent the problem in the future. He patiently worked with us as we labored over details such as color and style, coming to the home to work with us personally on more than one occasion. He was very prompt in responding to phone calls and emails, never losing patience though he must have fielded a dozen or more questions on different days, and various decision changes along the way. On the day of installation, a friendly crew led by a foreman who remained on site worked tirelessly to complete the job. In the end, the roof turned out great. Most notably, Steve cares about people, and particularly his customers. We had an unfortunate event unrelated to roofing or siding occur to a property other than the one he was servicing and Steve happened to come by on the day we were first dealing with the issue. Not only did he lend an ear and make some suggestions, noticing how distraught we were, he immediately picked up his cell phone and made a call to one of his employees specializing in such issues, gave a brief description of the incident, and gave the phone to me so I could speak with him in detail. Steve then offered to travel to the property on his time off on the weekend to check it out and see what could be done, just as a courtesy to us. While in the end, we did not need him to do that, it was so refreshing to deal with a contractor who undoubtedly cared about his customer as it related to the job at hand and beyond. I big thanks to Steve and the rest of the gang at preferred for not only handling my roofing needs, but for giving me comfort and peace of mind.

Oct. 30th 2013 Steve Cases guys proceeded to tar off the roof when it came time to install the skylites Steve informed me he had ordered the wrong ones. He said that it would take a couple weeks to get the right ones. He said thats alright we can go ahead and finish the roof and put the skylites in later. About 2 weeks later he sent his guys to install the new skylites. This was November 2013 as soon as the skylites were in the skylite in the kitchen leaked I have wood beam ceilings and they were stained from the water. I called Steve he sent a guy out with cauk and cauked all the skylites. It seemed better. So I didn't give my roof much more thought. . Then in Dec 2013 I was dusting the ceiling (I have volted ceilings) I noticed a dark spot on the drywall that wasn't there before. It looked like mold but I wasn't sure. I asked a male friend about it he said it was mold and there was a leak there. Now that leak is on both sided of the beam and the drywall has a lot of mold on it and needs to be replaced. It's a big spot. I started to look at the ceiling for other problems. By spring they started to show up all the skylites leak,my bathroom has wood plank ceiling there are stains from leaks all over the place and run lines. I called Steve left a message with who ever takes his calls at his 800 # phone. They said they would tell him. I never hear from him. I called again. Finally I got him. I had a familly emergency I was out of town for about a week. When I got home Steve sent one of his workers to look at the damage to my ceiling the guy came with more cauk. Steve Case never even came to inspect the damage hisself. I complained about that to Steve and he was insulting to me. When he did show up about a week later he was belligerent and rude he shoved his phone in my face and said thats where the leaks coming from a stack form my furnas, funny thing is my old roof never leaked at any of these places. I had a window company here installing a new front door and they heard everything Steve said to me. They couldn't believe the way he spoke to me. I paid for a new roof and I got a bigger problem than if I keep my old one! I don't have money to repalce,fix or what ever it needs. Plus the inside drywall and the wood ceiling in the bathroom now needs repair. If I would of had an attic I wouldn't of found these problems for quite awhile. So please if anyone is thinking about having Steve Case from Preferred roofing put on your roof think again and don't do it. The part thats my fault is he never gave me a certificate of ins. and I didn't think to ask. The paper work he did give me was a joke you couldn't even read it.and I had to even ask for that. So thats my fault! By the way I found him on angie's List!! That gave me a false sence of security.

The work went smoothly and was completed on time in an efficient manner. Steve was very responsive to a few problems that arose during the job and everything was resolved satisfactorly. The site cleanup was excellent. I am happy to recommend them.

I called Preferred to get a quote to replace my roof due to damage from a recent storm. Steve quickly called me back and was able to set up a time for an estimate in short order. Steve was very knowledgeable, and explained to process when dealing with replacements under insurance claims. Steve's crew came out completed the work in one day. They did a great job and cleaned everything up after completing the job. I would hire Preferred again in the future.

Steve @ Preferred Roofing promptly responded to my call and introduced his company to me. He arranged an appointment and showed up at our agreed time within a day of my call. When he arrive, Steve presented a very detailed estimate along with samples of the materials they propose to use, his workmanship warranty, references, license, etc. He spent a great deal of time with me answering all my questions as we went through the proposal. I am very impressed with Steve and his company. Once I finish getting all my estimates, Steve and his team are at the top of my list to do the work!

After a hailstorm on April 12, we got several "cold-calls" from roofing contractors looking to work on our roof. These were people I didn't contact nor did I really know who they were. I contacted my insurance company (USAA) directly to have my roof examined and the inspection showed that the roof did need to be done. I then started my search on Angie's List to find a contractor. One of the contractors I found was Preferred Roofing and Exteriors and I called them to arrange for them to take a look. Steve Case came out and absolutely impressed us with his knowledge, honesty, and genuine interest in our satisfaction. Our roof is rather large (over 3,600 square feet) but it only took the crew from Preferred Roofing two days to do the entire job. They even started on a holiday (Memorial Day) so that the job could get finished more quickly. The crew did a fantastic job and showed utmost care in cleaning up any debris. Steve personally fixed a area where the roof soffit was drooping for us. I have recommended Steve and Preferred Roofing to my neighbors who also need to have their roof done. I am also looking to have some additional exterior work done -- and I have already talked with Steve about having that done as well.

Steve Case was very professional and provided me with a detailed estimate that I will be considering further.

We recently experienced significant hail damage in our neighborhood. Our area was quickly swamped with roofing companies calling door to door trying to sign contracts. I wanted someone that has been doing business in our area for some time. I contacted Preferred Roofing Exteriors because of their reputation on Angie's List. The owner Steve Case responded to my call promptly. He was very helpful in explaining how the insurance process worked. He was also very accurate in his estimates of the amount of time it would take to get an insurance inspection and settlement check. He also offered to make temporary repairs if needed prior to replacing my roof. Steve was very responsive with returning my calls and checking on progress. The roof replacement was completed on time with the right materials and at the right price. They job was completed in a single day. I would recommend Steve because of his knowledge of roofing, his responsiveness and honesty.

I contacted them because of the high reviews on Angie's List for an estimate on a new roof. I called on 07/01/14 and spoke with someone who said I would get a call back to set up an estimate. On 7/3/14, the owner Steve Case called me to set up an estimate with him. Of all of the companies I called, he was the most accommodating with scheduling and could meet the quickest. He came out at the scheduled time and went over everything with me. He was very polite, professional and knowledgable. The roof was too wet/slick for him to go all of the way up on it (stormed the night before). But he said he would get a satellite image to provide an accurate estimate later that day. He also went in the attic to inspect everything. He called that evening and came back out with the estimate and samples of his products. While I haven't finished all of my estimates and decided on a company yet, Preferred is definitely worth calling and is one of my front runners.

Prefered Roofing did not perform the work.

I will start by saying Steve Case was friendly and courteous. I called after my home suffered some storm damage to the siding and roof. Steve requested I contact him after the insurance adjuster looked the house over. The adjuster estimated the costs to repair at $2500.00 and some change. I called Steve who told me because the job was so small and he had so much business he wasn't interested and I should call someone else. Steve said to be honest even if he took my job as small as it is it would be 6 weeks or longer to even get to it. This review isn't a rip on the business. I called them because of their obviously high regard here on Angies List so I am sure they do good work. I just wanted folks to know if they're job wasn't large enough this company is probably not the one to call first.

Steve was very responsive. He responded promptly to my voicemail and we scheduled an appointment for a couple days later. After the meeting he sent me an estimate the same day. Steve did follow up with a phone call but only once, he did not keep bugging me to get the job like other sales people often do.. Once I called him back, Steve was available to meet and sign the contract the next day. He said it would be approximately two weeks for his crew to be available but they were at my house within a week. The job was started and finished in one day. The overall experience was painless and his price was in line with other prices I received.
