Hired this company to wash and seal my cedar deck this summer. Bad, Bad, Bad. Despite their promise to protect the new shrubs and plantings around my deck, the workers did little or nothing to prevent the overspray of chemicals that eventually began to turn the shrubs brown and begin to die. Despite my many calls for assistance, Nate, their leader, chose to only email me denying my claims rather than review the damage. Nu-Again managed to talk Home Advisors into removing my comments from their website to limit others reading my comments. Nate then made threatening phone calls to me telling me I was a liar even after I offered photographic proof of the damage. This is the quality of the customer service your dealing with here when you call Nu-Again. Do yourself and the value of your property a favor and avoid this company at all costs.
BROKEN CONTRACT and UNPROFESSIONALISM
Nu-Again, were absolutely the worst contracting company in the world that I have ever had displeasure of dealing with. It started almost two years ago. It took 10 calls to get them to come out and actually seal my deck floor, strip and finish my deck. It took another ten calls after I had already signed the contract with them. Once they did it, I asked them to put a different type of railing on top. Nathan Rothlisberger (the owner), came out after 10 more calls and after three separate attempts, they could not do it, even though they Nathan said they could and charged me for it. Finally, Nathan had to actually call in another contractor to do the job, because Nathan and his guys weren't skilled enough to replace the top railings. Just to put on a top railing!!! I couldn't believe it! After that was done, Nu-Again, needed to seal the top rail also. It took them 2 months to get it done. It was already going into November at that time, so I had to go out and get some sealer to put on it myself to protect it, until they got there to seal it per our contract. Now also as part of the contract, I was suppose to have a spring reseal done on my deck this year (2011). I have called them over 12 times this year and even set up appointments. Every single time, I get stonewalled. Nathan would say that they would be out this weekend or next weekend and they never showed up. This has happened over 20 times and I am a very patient person, but this disrespectful and unprofessional treatment has gone on for the last 2 years and I am through with it now. Nu-Again has broken our contract and I have hired another Deck Maintenance company.
They are a scam and Nathan is an absolutely terrible person! Never ever received an apology for his obvious dismissal. Please don't trust him! Please for anyone reading this, I beg you to reconsider using Nu-Again. It sickens me to think Nathan is doing this to people that have no recourse and are defenseless to the whim of this unprofessional dealings...
ILLEGAL TRESPASSING by NU AGAIN
UPDATE: Since I have hired another Deck Maintenance company due to no work completed from Nu-Again as described above, I placed "No Trespassing" signs (hung by steel wire) on my property and specifically on the deck blocking any entrance to the deck. I do this every year going into winter as our home backs up to a forest. Also helps prevent deer from walking up onto the deck and causing damage because they can't get out. Continuing, I got a call from my wife (I was at work) who was frieghtened out of her mind by two guys on our deck. Nathan Rothlisberger had sent out his men without calling me or giving any warning. Moreover, they took down my "No Trespassing" signs and the steel cables (two of them blocking deck entrance) I had strung to purposely block anyone's entrance onto the deck. Who does this and calls them themselves or business professional or ethical. Well due to my not being home and my wives obvious fear of these men, she called the police. There is now a police record on file that I will be submitting to the Cook County Court as part of my law suit for breaking the contract. Again, no apologies from Nathan for trespassing on my property and scaring my wife. There was no call, no knock on the door, no warning, no nothing. Even if I was still using his services, I would have expected that obvious requirement when coming onto someone else's property. This invasion of privacy and lack of respect proves the unprofessional nature of Nathan Rothlisberger.
One last point - beyond the trespassing after clearing not falling through with resealing my deck in Spring 2011, Nathan Rothlisberger had his men to seal the deck without my knowledge which I find unscrupulous and on a day, November 2, in which the Maximum Average temperature was 55 degrees and the Minimum Average temperature was 35 degrees. It also rained that whole night. Both of these factors would prevent the deck sealant from absorbing properly, and also prevent it from drying properly. You can find a number of sources across the web that state 50 degrees Fahrenheit is the minimum temperature for application and that there should be no rain forecasted within 24 hours following the application of the sealant.
If you do not follow my advise and hire Nu-Again, you better watch them and and the weather or say goodbye to your money.
So example site that list the weather requirements over a 24 hour period after sealant application.
