About us
Ace Roofing Services has been serving the Fox Valley area since 1992 as a licensed and insured contractor. We are members of the Better Business Bureau, National Roofing Contractors Association, and St. Charles Chamber of Commerce. Shingle Master Select for CertainTeed, Preferred Contractor for Owens Corning and 3-star skylight specialist for Velux. We have a crew of 6-7 men that we have worked with for 15 years. We have our own dump trailer so a dumpster will not be sitting in your driveway unless the size of the job requires it. We just incorporated in January 2010, our license #104-007624 is still listed with the state of Illinois as well as our new one which is #105-002486. Our license number can be looked up on the state website. We do free estimates for roof replacements however some repairs may require a service fee depending on the circumstances. Usually we don't charge to look at a repair and are prepared to take care of it right away. The owner Ted McLaughlin worked has worked in the roofing industry for 40 years and has extensive knowledge of flat and steep roofing systems. Being in business for over 20 years in the residential roofing market has experience with anything to do with roof replacement on your home.

Excellent from quote request through job completion. Good project recommedations, competitive price, on time, efficient high quality workmanship from tear off through thorough site clean up. Highly recommend Ted and the skilled crew.

Ace Roofing just replaced our roof. We requested a quote by e-mail and Ted responding very quickly, came out and inspected everything and then scheduled a time to go over the entire proposal. Ted was a pleasure to work with and my wife and I were both quickly convinced that Ace was the company to hire. Ted scheduled the start of work within a few days after we accepted the proposal and was very good at communicating with us throughout the project, especially when weather forced a day's deferral. Ted's crew were very professional and conscientious about our property and the job was very well done, including some miscellaneous items we had discussed with Ted during the initial walk through. We would highly recommend Ace Roofing and Ted for any roofing job.

We were very pleased with the work that Ace Roofing did for us. Ted was very knowledgeable, courteous, prompt with communication, and was willing to accommodate us even though we needed the roof fixed so late in the year when the weather was less than ideal. They stayed on schedule, cleaned up afterwards, and the new shingles look great! It's been 6 months since we've had our roof work done, and we've had no issues. Our neighbor also had their roof done by Ace after we did, and they are happy with their work as well. I would highly recommend Ace Roofing

I have called Ace Roofing a few times in the past. Years ago they replaced a small section of our roof the previous owners had skipped when reroofing because it was hard to reach. They also checked my roof after a hail storm once and said there was no hail damage. So when we had a leak in the flat portion of our roof I called them to get an estimate, I trusted they would give me a fair estimate since they had not tried to get us to do unnecessary work in the past. They provided and estimate the same week with options to repair the corner that was leaking or redo the entire flat roof. We decided to replace the flat roof and they were able to do the work about a week later. Communication was good and the process went smoothly.

We had a bad roof because of a manufacturing problem addressed by the manufacturer. Ace Roofing had the best price, helped with the warranty payment from the manufacturer and did a most excellent job. We hardly knew they were here. Work done on time within budget and when they left the area was totally clean. I would highly recommend them.

The day after the roof was done I noticed a few small things that I didn't like and needed to be fixed. Ted came out same day and went over the problems. The next morning he had guys out fixing the issues. Roof was done in one day, fixes were done the day after I called about them. No other problems, smooth job. Would recommend to others. Thanks Ace

Ted was the only bidder to suggest a ridge vent which we had researched and wanted to replace the attic vents and fan. The price was close to two other bidders (theirs without the removal of the attic vents, fan, and installation of the ridge vent!) The laborers were on time the date scheduled, worked nonstop, and cleaned up the property in one day. The second floor was noticeably cooler during the hot summer months and warmer without the thermostat adjusted up in the winter. The finished roof appears flawless. Needless to say, Ted was great to work with and the customer service outstanding.

It did not go well. The homeowners association hired this company to put on a new roof. They had the roof on in a day and a half which seemed very quick. They did not put any flashing on and they used nail guns irrationally. I even witnessed a wasp being able to wiggle into my house through a gap by the skylight. I had never had a problem with my skylight but now I do.
In less than a week after the roof was on I noticed leaking in my home. I called Ted who is the president of the company and spoke to his wife. I left a message with her. She put me on with his foreman, Joe. Ted came out first with an attitude and even yelled at me intimidating me. Joe later came out and tried to tell me I did not know anything about roofing, made excuses and said he was going to re install the skylight himself. I decline and told him to leave.
I am in a stalemate with the Homeowners association and with this roofing company. They are rude and condescending. I would warn anyone to stay away from them.

"We are disappointed with this review. Numerous attempts to address your complaints were made by us only for you to refuse them. Your roof has a registered 20-year SureStart warranty from CertainTeed and a copy for your files is available from us. Foster Premier hired Waldman Engineering Consultation to do an inspection, the results of this report confirmed the quality of our workmanship, this is also available to you. Your insurance company contacted our insurance company for subjugation and was denied based on the engineering report. You also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and we responded immediately to your claim. We informed them we did everything in our power to address your issues and you refused any of our offers. As of May 14th 2012 we were notified the case against us was closed and 'Assumed Resolved' We understand that you were not happy that we were replacing your roof in the first place but had an opportunity at the homeowners association meetings to voice your opinion. You also had an unlicensed and uninsured person replacing a skylight AFTER we installed your roof. This put the homeowners association in jeopardy for a lawsuit if he would have injured himself. We have public liability and workman's comp insurance, we are also bonded. We have a state license and are members of the National Roofing Contractors Association and the Better Business Bureau. Also we have hundreds of happy customers that refer us to their friends and family. It is unfortunate that we were unable to have you as one of them."

"This is a disappointing report on a repair we did over 6 months ago. This customer never contacted us with this complaint, we only know they were unhappy when this report appeared. Their call came in on 8/4/11 and we had the repair done by 8/9/11. We prepared a written proposal and didn't charge anymore than what we initially quoted. We don't know if they took other bids but they certainly had that option. Being we did the job in the busiest part of our season we feel we did it in a timely manner."

Overall, it went smoothly. Workers had to stop before finishing on the first day because of high winds. They returned the following Saturday. Before starting, they removed the patio furniture and placed a tarp on the patio on which they collected all damaged shingles. Upon copletion of the work, they picked up the tarp and placed it on a truck to be hauled away. They replaced the patio furniture and made sure the grounds were left neat and clean. The workers were very efficient and respectful.

When we sought estimates for having our roof done, we called 6 companies and received replies from 4. Ted, the owner of the Ace Roofing Services, is a likeable guy -- straightforward, knowledgeable, and very responsive. I liked him and felt I could trust him. Of the four estimates we received (four total), that from Ace was least by a significant amount, with among the two best warranties among the four. When I called Ted and told him that, based on discussion with the company giving the last estimate, I had some questions, he came over very promptly. We talked about the issues raised, he gave very substantive answers, and I was convinced that Ace was the company I would hire. We shook on it, and Ted indicated that given the work schedule, we'd probably be seeing the crew in about 2 weeks.
About a week later, Ted called and said that if all was OK with us, they could actually start earlier, and they came over the next day. The job was done by noon the following day. Many of my neighbors commented positively about the job done by Ace, because it was so fast (another neighbor nearby had a roof done the week earlier, and it took 3+ days to be finished, even though the roof is substantially smaller than ours).
About a week later, Ted called and said that if all was OK with us, they could actually start earlier, and they came over the next day. The job was done by noon the following day. Many of my neighbors commented positively about the job done by Ace, because it was so fast (another neighbor nearby had a roof done the week earlier, and it took 3+ days to be finished, even though the roof is substantially smaller than ours).

Met with Ted, the owner, and he explained everything in great detail. the final price was exactly as estimated. We had a new roof in less than a week after our estimate, quick and proficient.
The crew came around 8:30 and was done with a 2,100 sq ft roof by 5:00, with a thorough cleanup.
They say it's the small things that count, well noticed that a robin hatched a couple chicks the week before and they made sure the nest went unharmed and the chicks remain.
The price was very competitive with all the other estimates but with Ted being local and in business so long, we felt very confident in going with him. Also, they offer the 50 year SELECT SingleMaster warranty, which is transferable up to one time, if you decide to sell your house. Very happy with the work, service and quality of Ace Roofing, would recommend to anyone in the area.
