Suburban floor was very expedient and professional. They did very nice work, and were clean and efficient. They were also one of the most affordable. Most of the other refinishing firms had outrageous prices. Kevin came out in a couple of days and gave us a simple estimate. They were ready to start within a week. I pulled the edging, which reduced the cost a little. They spent about 2 days sanding off the old finish on 3 rooms and 2 sets of stairs. Kevin was around to inspect the work, and he is a little particular on quality, which is good. Stain took place the next morning. Varnish layers took place each day, for 3 days. We wanted the satin finish, and after the last coat, there were a few spots that still looked shiny. Instead of just covering those few spots, Kevin had his team put down a 4th coat for free. The finished floor and stairs looked great, and even better than the original wood. That was done about 2 months ago, and the finish is still great. The varnish is nice and hard, and stands up to my dog who can't resist running around on it. We are very happy with the price, the quality and the responsiveness of Kevin and his team. If a few years, we will have them back out to buff and coat the finish again. That way, we will not have to sand all the way down. Thanks Kevin!

We have used Suburban Floor Crafters for two hardwood floor installs in our home, and could not be happier with our floors and the customer service we received from Kevin and his team of installers. Our first install was done last year, and the floors looked so good we decided to have several more rooms upgraded with hardwood this year. In both sections we selected red oak flooring, natural color with three coats of poly. It is wearing extremely well and will add tons of value to our home!
Kevin is wonderful to work with - knowledgeable, dependable, flexible and easy to get in touch with. Within days of signing off on the estimate we had wood delivered and the install scheduled. His installers do great work and are very respectful of your home. They frequently consulted us to confirm they were installing things to our liking. Our home has some "flaws" due to the previous homeowner's handiwork, and I felt both Kevin and Oscar were very knowledgeable and gave great advice on how to fix things to make it look great. They will work with you to make sure the schedule meets your needs so you can minimize disruption to your schedule and live in your home while the work is being completed. On top of all this, their pricing is extremely reasonable and a great value for what you get!

My wife and I live in AZ and have two rental properties in IL that we had less than 10 days to make repairs to, and get re-rented before we had to leave to go back home. I spoke with Rob by phone two days before we were to leave for IL explaining the urgency of our situation, and within 24 hours of our phone conversation, he had gone to both houses, took measurements, gave me a written estimate (GREAT price by the way!) , and had all the floors already sanded in both houses before our plane even landed. In less than 4 days (including a Saturday, his guys had sanded, repaired, and coated all our floors with 3 layers of poly and they look AMAZING!! 
Every member of their team we dealt with was nothing but professional, courteous, and helpful. Thanks to Suburban Floor Crafters, our houses were completed and re-rented in 9 days. We couldn't have done it without them. They will be the only company that takes care of our floors from this point on!

My experience with Suburban Floor Crafters was excellent from start to finish thanks in large part to Kevin and his crews.  We were considering engineered hardwood or bamboo from some of the big box stores and the "liquidator" but we decided to also get a quote from someone local.  I'm so glad we did.  We called for an estimate and Kevin came out the same day.  He measured the rooms and took plenty of time to discuss the options we had in terms of board size, installation direction, and stain options.  Once we got our quote and saw that it was less expensive to have Kevin install solid hardwood than engineered from the big box, the decision was obvious.
One of the best parts of the process for us was the great communication throughout.  Kevin arranged for the lumber to be delivered on a Friday to acclimate over the weekend for install starting on Monday.  He stopped over a few times during the job to make sure things were going well and to answer any questions we had.  Our install of ~500 sq. ft of flooring took about six days total.  
The tear out was fairly charged per man hour (ended up under $500) versus the $2000 that HD wanted to charge me.  They got the existing tile, subfloor and carpeting out in about 3/4 of a day.  While one man finished the harder tile demo the second man started the wood install at the other end of the room where carpet had been.  We ended up doing a diagonal install because our subfloor ran in different directions due to being over an addition.  This added some labor time for the extra cuts but we love the look of the diagonal.  They got the install finished the second day and then were on to the sanding and application of three coats of commercial grade finish.  We opted for natural red oak versus staining which knocked a day off of the overall install time.  The install was over the Thanksgiving week which worked out well for us as we were out of town part of the week.  Kevin (with my help) arranged for his crew to let themselves in to do the sanding and finish coats.  I trusted them to be there and they did not let me down.
On the last day, they finished the clean up process and left us with a care sheet, a nice touch.  Also, in terms of debris disposal, Kevin's suggestions allowed me to avoid having to pay any special pickup charges or renting a dumpster.  That alone saved me a few hundred dollars and is an example of Kevin's excellent customer focus.
Overall, we love our floor and we loved working with Suburban Floor Crafters.  We will use them again without hesitation the next time we have a hardwood job.

It was a very pleasant experience. The workers were courteous and most professional. Their work was excellent and they were extremely neat and clean. They also removed and replaced all the heavy furniture for a reasonable fee. The work was completed in three days and the floor looks brand new. I would highly recommend this company.

They lightly sanded the floors and than coated with a satin poly product.  The floors look great; ready for another ten years of wear and tear.  Kevin Murphy was punctual in meeting us at our home on the first visit, clearly explained the options for rejuvenating our floors, and provided an easily understandable quotation.  His crew arrived on the appointed day of the service, were very polite and courteous, and provided the service in an efficient manner.  We highly recommend Suburban Floor Crafters.

Suburban Floor Crafters did a great job at an amazing price.  From start to finish, the experience was top notch.  Kevin Murphy came to our house for the original estimate, surveying the job and explaining every step of the process.  He showed us the product, gave us some options, and helped us choose a direction we were comfortable with.  The installers showed up on time every day, were utterly professional and friendly, and did a beautiful job.  The installers were also very patient, helpful, and answered the questions we raised along the way, and finished a day earlier than scheduled.  Our floors are now amazing.  I would highly recommend Suburban Floor Crafters to anyone considering new wood floors.  A great team, a great product, and a great price.  You can't go wrong.

I have used Suburban Floor Crafters in the past and was very happy with the work performed, and the price. There were absolutely no surprises.
This year I had 2 homes that needed floor refinishing in preparation for the sale of the homes.
For the first home ( Job started 2/17/14, completed 2/20/14) Kevin was prompt in the initial meeting. While preparing the quote, I was advised that under some awful vinyl tile in the kitchen, a nice Maple hardwood floor was probably hidden. Sure enough, we took a look under the tile, and there was a Maple floor. So in addition to the Oak Floors I initially wanted refinished, we had the Maple Kitchen floor done as well. The cost to refinish the kitchen floor was less than the cost to re-tile the floor.
The job was completed promptly, no additional costs to the initial estimate. I was very happy with the every aspect of the job.
The second job was started on 3/3/14 and completed on 3/6/14. Again, everything went exactly as promised, and we were very pleased with the results.
Overall, the jobs were quoted accurately, the crew showed up on time, and the jobs were completed on time. The work was excellent, and the pricing was competitive. I have referred others to Suburban Floor Crafters in the past, and will continue to recommend them in the future.

Rob contacted me right away and came out the next day. The price was 1/2 from the other companies. They came out the next week and did a terrific job on a very scratched floor. We ended up calling them again to do our stairs. The stairs were old but they did a very professional job. The stair looked bad in the beginning and after they were done it looked awesome. Everybody said the stairs looked nice! They did an awesome job!

KEVIN, WAS WORKING ON A NEW HOME IN THE AREA AND CAME RIGHT OVER TO GIVE ME A QUICK COAT. VERY HELPFUL IN GOING OVER OPTIONS AND TIMEFRAMES. SINCE THE AREA BEING FLOORED IS FROM THE ORIGINAL (OLD) HOUSE AND AN ADDITION. KEVIN CAME UP WITH A QUICK WAY TO GET IT LEVELED AND STAY ON TIME. THE WORKERS WERE GREAT AND PROMPT. THE OFFICE WAS VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS, KEVIN EVEN CALLED ME ON HIS DAY OFF TO ALAY SOME OF MY FEARS. EVERYTHING CAME OUT GREAT

THE FLOOR LOOKS EXCELLENT, HOWEVER THE TILE REMOVAL JOB WAS MORE DIFFICULT THAN ANTICIPATED. AS A RESULT WE FELT THAT THE CARE NORMALLY GIVEN WAS NOT PROVIDED. OWNER DID ATTEMPT TO CORRECT MISTAKES. CREWS LEFT US WITH THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: HEAVY DUST COVERING THE FIRST FLOOR DUE TO FAILURE TO PLASTIC SHEET THE DOORWAYS/CABINETS DURING TILE REMOVAL. CAUSED 3 SOLID DAYS OF CLEANING FOR US. WE ARRANGED TO BE HOME FROM WORK ON ONE DAY AND NO ONE SHOWED UP BECAUSE STAIN NEEDED AN EXTRA DAY TO DRY. WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF THIS EXTRA DAY. DISCARDED EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS NAILS AND USED SANDING DISKS, WERE LEFT IN HOUSE AND YARD. EXTRA CARPET TACK STRIP TOSSED BEHIND COUCH. UNFINISHED JOB ON LAST DAY OF WORK THAT WE HAD TO CALL AND PROVIDE A LIST OF TASKS TO HAVE COMPLETED A COMPLETELY UNSEALED BOX OF BROKEN TILES ON THE BACK PORCH WHICH OPENED UP AND SPREAD EVERYWHERE WHEN WE TRIED TO MOVE IT, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO WALK IN OUR BACKYARD BAREFOOT
