Just had our new driveway put in by Kaplan. They buried 3 downspouts as well. Great team effort by Meredith, Tricia, Mike, and Jose. Highly recommend Kaplan they are awesome.

This company is a scam!!! Scott Greengburg sent me an email threatening to trespass and “rip out” the driveway they installed. I have been suing this company for 4 years and have spent almost $60,000.00 over a $2300.00 driveway. The city of Palatine ILL was refusing to approve the installation and wanted to do a second inspection. This was about a 2 week delay. I had already paid them 1,300.00 up front leaving $1000.00 once Palatine approved the driveway. Scott went nuts and was calling almost every day making threats and telling me he didn’t care if Palatine approved the driveway, he demanded payment even if Palatine didn’t approve it. They did this knowing my mother was in the hospital and couldn’t stop these lunatics. Over the last 4 years I have paid almost $60,000.00 over a $2,300.00 driveway. Kaplin just made an offer to pay me $3,000.00 which I rejected!!! My lawyer tried to accept the agreement without my approval, and I fired him on 7-26-23 he said he was going to go to court and officially quit, but instead of quitting he decided to get a continuance. He thinks he is going back to court on 8-08-23. My scum bag lawyer also illegally accessed my facebook account and removed the negative review I made about kaplin 4 years ago. I went to my mother’s house the same day the driveway was finally approved by Palatine, only to find it sliced up and badly damaged. At that time, I had already paid them the last $1000.00 and they had received it just a few hours earlier. I immediately called the Palatine police and made a report on what Kapliln did to my mother’s new driveway.

Do not use this company. They have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I paid around $3,500 less than 3 years ago to have my asphalt driveway removed and replaced. I had multiple huge cracks in the middle of my driveway right away and the edges are all cracking off as well. I did what they asked and signed up for their annual sealcoating subscription. They told me that if I signed up for the annual sealcoating that I would be covered if my driveway started having problems. I have called numerous times about the issue, taken and printed out pictures of the cracks and brought them to their business location, called even more times. Was reassured that they would look into it and get something figured out. Absolutely nothing has happened and now I’m getting text messages for when I want to schedule my $200 annual sealcoating subscription. They won’t come fix the problems that they caused. Absolutely horrible company and would advise against it religiously. Use someone else

DO NOT USE! This company has some of the worst customer service that we have seen in a long time. Someone took the time to come to our house and leave an estimate on postcard. The estimate said that the work would include filling the cracks in our driveway before sealing it. We called and scheduled the work and were surprised when the crew left that only half the work had been completed. We tried to speak with their people for months to get them to come back and finish the work, but they refused and wanted to be paid full price for a job half done. Instead of helping to find solutions, then just kept arguing with us and finally threatened to report us to a collections agency if we didn't pay. We paid them to keep them from wasting any more of our time, but we are now trying to let everyone know not to use them. Save yourself some headaches and time and use someone else - plenty of good vendors out there who will do a better job and are easier to work with...

When I started my driveway and sidewalk project I contacted 12 different paving companies. Kaplan was the only company that sent a sales representative to meet with me. Kaplan was not the lowest bid but since they actually sent someone out to look at the job, they got the job. Jill DeLira (the sales representative) came out and listened to what I wanted and offered a couple of other ideas. Due to complications with the village, the project was delayed a couple of months. Jill stayed in contact to check on the status of the project. When I finally got the village's approval, Jill was notified and project got started. Just prior to finishing the project Jill and the paving, and brick paver foreman met with me to go over everything to make sure we were on the same page. A couple of days after the job was finished, Jill called to make we were happy with the work that was performed and answer any questions we had. This kind of follow up is a big plus for me. The bricklayers and paving crew were very efficient and polite. They kept cleaning the sidewalk, apron and the street of all loose materials. They also answered all of my questions. This is a company that show pride in its high quality work which is hard to find these days. I highly recommend Kaplan Paving

I paid $4,000 three years ago for the removal and replacement of an asphalt driveway. I now have very large cracks in the driveway that the previous 17-year old driveway never had. After repeated attempts, mostly via Facebook messenger, I did eventually receive a callback (1 month later) that indicated the following: 1) I should have taken out the optional 3-year warranty extension at the time of installation. Shame on me as I thought this company used quality materials and that their work would last longer than 3 years. 2) I didn't use their sealcoating service each year after installation and that also negated their need to repair their inferior product and installation. When you buy a car you have the right to take it to any grange for an oil change without invalidating your warranty. 3) "They don't make asphalt like they used to?" I agree with others about terrible customer service. Why have a "Contact Us" section on your website if you're never going to return any requests? My neighbors used Superior Paving at the same time I chose Kaplan and their driveway is in perfect condition. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

There were initial problems with bid. However once resolved, the installation was wonderful and driveway perfect. I was very upset with the initial interaction and would now recommend them.

Awful. An offer was made and accepted. A $2500.00 deposit made. Three weeks later they say they cannot perform the work as described, an add-on to build a drain they say cannot be done for technical reasons. The explanation is that the contract was offered with our review by the GM! The the new contract then offered is $325.00 higher for the work without the drain. This all is communicated by email, not in person. There is no explanation for the higher cost for the paving work. Kaplan has had my deposit for nearly three weeks. I am outraged and plan to demand the deposit back.

No one ever responded to my quote request

Communication for scheduling was excellent. Workers were pleasant and professional and they did a good job.

Any time I get an estimate to have work done, I want to know exactly how much it will cost. The quote I received from Kaplan was $130 plus $30 for every half bag of crack filler needed. I asked if they could estimate how many bags they felt they would need and they said they had no idea as no one had not looked at my driveway. That in itself is scary. I got several other quotes from other companies that were unconditional. We went with Barrecca for $125 including crack repair and they did an excellent job.

Never heard from them...must of been too small if a job

I pre-paid Kaplan Paving LLC on 8/21/2018 for $90 using my credit card to contract for residential driveway seal coating services. Kaplan paving committed to performing these services on 9/6/2018, 9/7/2018, 9/12/2018, and 9/13/2018 and as of 9/13/2018 they have not provided the service at my address. I have contacted Kaplan on 8/31/2018, 9/08/2018, 9/13/2018 and I have requested a refund. Effected on 9/13/2018 at 5PM, Kaplan Paving has not provided any communication regarding scheduled services or refund.

Don't be swayed by slick mailers. Took days to get a call back and subsequent calls took days to return. They did not even know what price they sent me on mailer. Got call backs from different numbers. When finally scheduled, they did not show up. Nor did they call to cancel. It is as if this is a bunch of freelancers working under Kaplan.

Good pricing. Friendly service. Happy with the quality. Would recommend.

They did a quality job. The new driveway is so much better than what we had before. They addressed all of our concerns. Very clean, they left no mess.

Contacted via Angie's List and received a provisional quote quickly based on Google Earth. (I thought that was clever) I measured the drive and compared that and Kaplan's estimate was spot on. I called and scheduled. Showed up and did a great job. They cleaned the drive before and did clean job without any spillage on the walks or yard. Driveway looks new!

Kaplan was very responsive in the bidding process. I ended having the work done by a different outfit for a variety of reasons.

Do not hire Kaplan Paving. Despite the negative reviews I read about poor customer service upon job completion-I pressed on and I regret contracting for services. The Sales guy was good and the initial scheduling process was on point. However, once the job was done and the service paid for-customer service tanked. I've never been so irate as I have been in trying to schedule follow up service with Kaplan Paving. Emails go unanswered or are extremely delayed, promises are made and not kept, complaints aren't considered, and there is no communication or professionalism at all. I would never hire them again and wouldn't recommend them to any of my colleagues. It's not worth the headache.

Kaplan does NOT stand behind their work. ***UPDATE 9-6-17*** After getting the run around and their story keeps changing, they have completely ruined our Labor Day weekend. First, they were to "repair" our new driveway on Friday, no show. At 5 pm Friday night, we were told they were coming on Sat. in the afternoon, they showed up in the morning, not prepped for the work that needed to be done. We were told Lars was to come out on Monday, and no one came. Lars just left, and now the story has changed. He is satisfied with our lumpy repair job, he now told me he is part owner, and he is happy. We paid for a NEW driveway last summer, we have had nothing but blown of calls, the entire company does not stand behind their work. We have been dealing with Jason [email protected]. I know there are a lot of people in my local Highland Park groups and Nextdoor groups that have had a lot of problems with this company. This was not a cheap job, and it looks horrible. I will make sure to post photos on Yelp and Angies List and in my local groups. This has been a horrible experience. Bottom line, they made a mistake, and instead of replacing the driveway, they are trying to "repair" it. They claim to be in this business for a long time, this mistake was an obvious one and should never have happened. If you are considering this company, please read their reviews on the internet. We should have. ** ***July 17, 2017*** Just got off the phone with Brenda. We have been sitting on a BRAND NEW DRIVEWAY WE PAID IN FULL LAST SEASON THAT IS POURING WATER INTO OUR GARAGE BECAUSE OF THE PITCH. In addition, they did a very sloppy job initially, see photo. WE WERE TOLD MONTHS AGO BACK IN FEB. THEY WOULD BE REPLACING THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE EVER FOLLOWED UP. WE ARE NOW TOLD THEY WILL REPAIR THE NEW DRIVEWAY BY CUTTING IT AND SEALCOATING OVER THIS. WE AS PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO EXPECTED A NEW DRIVEWAY SHOULD NOT BE RECEIVING A REPAIRED DRIVEWAY WITH A SEAM THAT IS SEALCOATED OVER. I WILL PASS THIS ONTO MY LOCAL GROUPS FOR HIGHLAND PARK AND HIGHWOOD ON FACE BOOK. WE HAVE BEEN TREATED AS IF THEY WERE PAYING US FOR THE BUSINESS. UNREAL. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. IF YOU CANNOT EVEN MAKE A DRIVEWAY PITCH AWAY FROM A GARAGE THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS BUSINESS AT ALL. EVERY TIME WE HAVE CALLED THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN A MAN CAME HERE AND SAID THE GRADING IS OFF. I WOULD RATHER MY MONEY BACK THAN A REPAIRED NEW DRIVEWAY???? THEY OFFER NO MONEY BACK FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, THE WATER INTO OUR GARAGE, NO MONEY BACK FOR THE FACT THAT WE PAID IN FULL FOR A NEW DRIVEWAY????? THAT THEY MESSED UP? GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Terrible - every time it rains, we have a small pond at the base of our driveway (see photos). We told them that this was a problem with the old driveway, and we were reassured that they could keep this from happening with the new one. It is even worse! After repeated calls, people came out to see out on two separate occasions. No action was ever taken by Kaplan. They did not respond to our registered letters. We have no choice but to pursue legal action. This is the first negative review that I am ever recall writing , but it is well deserved.

We would use them again in the future.

It didn't! We received an estimate from them and they were going to match one of their competitors hence we decided last week we'd use them. They had also stated that they'd waive the following years sealcoating (that typically runs a little more than normal). When we called to hire them the salesrep we'd met and discussed all this with said that he would match the competitor's quote but reneged on his sealcoating the following year - stating that he wouldn't make enough money on the job. Now we run our own business as well - we thought this was kind of a bait and switch technique and said - thanks but no thanks! Very disappointed as we liked the rep but when this happened we totally lost all trust.

The actual paving work was very nice. The office staff and lack of communication was the problem.The gentleman who did the estimate part was very nice and professional but I had trouble getting phone calls returned from office staff. Never at their desk... I had to repeatedly call the man who did the assessment to have him help me get the office to set up date for driveway, then to have seal coating for free added to contract took over a month. Very disappointed.
