FAIRFIELD MATERIAL & SUPPLY

NOT good. He never did it correctly. He had two different subcontractors do it and it is still not done correctly, sand missing not a uniform coating.

Fairfield did a great job on our patio. Ray was very helpful and easy to work with. He recommended the materials for the job and they came out great. The patio was completed just one week after I received the proposal. We will definitely be coming back for any future work we decide to do. We love our new patio and have been utilizing it almost every day (when the weather allows for it)!

Everything was done as agreed and sooner than expected. The interactions were very professional and the individuals were knowledgeable. They were capable of suggesting the best options to solve the landscape issues that I needed to solve.

On May 20th, we went to Fairfield Materials (wanted to try local) to order4 yards of red mulch for our plant beds. We paid, by check, for mulch to be delivered on May 29th at 7:30am (they said they could deliver as early as then).
Check was cashed within next two days.
On May 29th, the 7:30am time passed.  We called Fairfield Materials at 8:30am to ask why they were not at homeowner's address. They said they had trouble with the truck.  We asked why THEY hadn't called us to let us know. They said they were busy. We called again at 9:30am, and asked when they would be arriving.  They didn't know.  At 10:30am the mulch was delivered ~~ 3 hours late!
We called the office and the person said they would have someone call us and maybe work out something on the delivery charge.
No one called.
We wrote a letter to Fairfield Materials on June 24th to explain the entire situation.
To date, we have received no phone call, NOR a response to our letter.
We thought we'd try local. We learned that Fairfield cashed our check more expediently than they delivered the purchased material!
We will be staying with Lester's Materials in Grayslake, IL. They always delivered on time & always provided excellent customer service.  We know we can count on the product, the delivery and most of all, the CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!  We will never 'stray' from those we can count on, in the future.  We learned our lesson well.

Ray was very professional and personal. He was ready to get started as soon as we signed the contract. He was punctual and always got back to me within a few hours. I had a lot of questions being a new homeowner. The work was done in 3 days. It is beautiful! We love it!

They didn't do what they said they were going to do. They started in September of 2012 and they said it would take a month. This is probable the worst company I have ever worked with.

Very well.  Ray was a cheerful and helpful contact person for the project.  He's not a designer, so we pretty much came up with our own design, but he was helpful with suggestions and possible improvements to our plans.  He was always responsive, and followed up to our questions and concerns.  We'd used them once before for a front patio (a much smaller project) and were very pleased with how both turned out.  Don't know how we'd fit in any more hardscaping projects now that those are both done, but we'd use them again for other landscaping needs.
