Andy's Professional Remodeling

I was vey please with the job from start to finish.  The job was roughly 300 square feet.   The estimate came in at 2,700 for all three rooms.  The job included the removal of the old linoleum and the install of the new porcelain tile.   First and foremost the estimate was very competitive.  Another tile guy on Angie's list quoted me 2400 for just the kitchen and was going to charge me extra for the demo of the old floor.  Andy's team arrived on time the day we started and worked hard for 4 days.  Andy kept me informed of all unexpected challenges and engaged me when decisions had to be made.  The work was done on time and the results were incredible.  What I appreciate the most was that Andy wanted to do the job right.  Many contractors tried to tell me to lay the new floor over the old.  I did not want to do that.  I wanted my new floor to be flush up against the existing hardwood.  Andy never even suggested taking the easy way.  He ripped up the old got the floors flush and the transition is perfect.  All garbage was removed and they even cleaned up.  I have already talked to Andy about the next job I need him for.  Andy did not charge me for the unexpected challenges.  He could have.  I included that in his tip.

The home in question had deep, dark colors previously painted so there were multiple coats necessary to paint over. Andy and his crew was wonderful -- they got the work done very quickly, within the budget. He worked to make the job as affordable as possible but when I had to add on the painting of the doors and casings to the original estimate, he made the time in his schedule for his crew to add this work on and it was as affordable as his initial estimate.
Walls looked BEAUTIFUL when done, the great job made the home look brand new!!! Andy is a pleasure to work with as are his employees Walter and Carlos!

Andy was very prompt in his replies and offered his expert advice throughout the entire project.  His team worked efficiently and effectively.  He was also available for questions or to stop by as needed.

Andy did an outstanding job, very high quality and I appreciate his promptness and professionalism.  He always showed up on time and he and his team were also very neat!  One of the good ones, thanks Andy!

Working with Andy and his crew was a pleasure from beginning to end of a long, complex job. Plus, I already have a ton of other, smaller projects to do around the house I wouldn't dream of asking anyone else to do. You will not be disappointed by Andy. I'm so grateful that Angie's list connected us. Just having found Andy was, alone, worth the price of the membership to Angie's list.

His work is beautiful. I hope to either remodel my kitchen or basement soon and I will definitely hire Andy again. He's the BEST!

It went very well.  Andy and his workers came in to do the demo in one day.  Then they came back and installed the ceramic tiles, trim and sink/toilet.  They did a great job.  Very happy.

The job was to install snap and lock laminate flooring.  I obtained 4 quotes for this job.  Others responded job would take no more than 2 days to complete Andy did not quote a time frame.   Andy picked up the flooring on a Thursday and advised he was hoping to be able to install the next week pending the holiday weekend and completion of a current job.  I advised I had taken the week off work there was no indication it would not be completed that week.  Andy?s crew started Thursday afternoon I left
them with a printed copy of the install instructions for the flooring.  They all worked in the same room so only the one bedroom and half the loft was completed. On Friday morning Andy and one other person came in the morning and only worked on the carpet nose transition piece on the stairs. At noon I noticed Andy had left and his partner came in. The crew began working on finishing the second floor and the living/dining downstairs.   Later Friday afternoon Andy returned and advised that he would not be working on Saturday because he felt he would have to unhook the stove and would not finish that section and didn?t want to work until 6 on Saturday.  They could have completed the half bath or front hallway on Saturday but didn't.  The quarter round was only partially finished and I noticed some of the boards went all the way to the wall leaving no room for expansion due to the house being on a concrete slab .  Over the weekend I cleaned up the sawdust mess and recovered the items in the garage with plastic.  On Monday morning I questioned the flooring installed flush with the wall Andy advised it was fine and there would be no issues.  Since we had miscommunication issues I left him with a typed list of issues including cleanup of the garage. They worked up until they finished just after 6:00. After they left I noticed they had installed flooring over two floor heating vents in the entrance and half bath. I called Andy and they all came back and had to tear up the flooring in the area to find the vents and remove the pedestal sink and recut the flooring.  I noticed later they had not connected the quarter round along one of the cabinets. I also noticed one of the transitions from the hall to living room wasn?t flush with the floor.  Andy advised he thought there would be an issue and would need to reorder the part because the one installed was broken.  I had purchased extra but by that time had returned what was not used.   The carpet nose transition was connected to the end of the carpet instead of folded under so the end unravels.  Andy advised it was because I told him I was planning to replace the stair carpeting soon.  Some of the white quarter round pieces were not attached flush with the floor/walls in some areas. Between the door frames on two bathrooms there is a quarter inch open gap between the floor and door frame that was left open.   The garage was covered with sawdust including what was covered with plastic I had to remove everything inside and vacuum the entire garage.  I can only speculate the garage door was fully open and the wind was blowing into the garage when they were cutting so the sawdust spread all over the garage.  We have to bag all garbage that is not recycled they had filled the garbage bin with boards they cut but didn?t use and dumped sawdust on top.  I had to pull all the wood out and bag it for garbage pickup and clean the sawdust out of the garbage bin. Overall the job was done but not with attention to detail and cleanup mentioned in other reviews.

Where to start, first off we started with Andy to demolish an existing bath and it was apparent that his attention to detail and desire to get every detail right was a terrific fit for us.  Since we were on a really tight budget, we supplied allot of the materials and Andy and his crew did the rest.  Andy was the consummate professional, and once we were on his schedule he stuck with it.  Even after we had some damaged cabinets and a broken window that delayed the job, Andy stuck with it and worked with us to get back to the project just as quick as possible.  He wants the customer to be happy, so if he sees something, he'll let you know and suggest an alternative.   He has an eye for details, a terrific work ethic and he is very fair with his pricing, often suggesting ways to save on the project.  I am an engineer by training and have some years of experience in the trades, so I've seen my fair share of contractors over the years, and I have to say Andy is one of the very best I've ever worked with.  He will be back to do some more work on our house next year.  IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO OVERSTATE HOW HAPPY I AM WITHTHE WORK ANDY AND HIS CREW DID FOR US!!!!

All the damages were repaired by filling in the holes sanding and painting with Kilz and our extra house paint. Looks very nice

Overall the project went really well. I was impressed by Andy's commitment and hard work. He was punctual and responsive to our needs. His initial quote was very reasonable. When the project started we decided to make few design changes. He accomodated our changes without much complaining. One area I think where Andy can improve to be little more aware of customer's expectation and be responsive to that. One example is, we told Andy what color of grout we wanted to go with tiles; instead of picking up the material from Ace (which is 5 mins from my house), he asked my wife to come from work and drop it off. This could very much be due to miscommunication as well, but our expectation was he'd take care of such things. Overall, I would definitely recommend Andy. He completed our project on time and cleaned up everything after work.

Excellent. Everything was as he quoted and he did a tremendous job. I was very happy with the finished product. I recommend him to anybody. Even though he is listed on Angie's List in the Chicago market he is willing to work in some parts of Wisconsin.

Overall the quality of work that Andy and his team performed on both jobs was excellent.  His actual work came in slightly below the estimates and his labor and material costs were very reasonable.   I have additional remodeling projects planned in the future and based on my two experiences to date, I will not hesitate to have Andy's team perform these jobs.

This was our first remodeling experience using a contractor.  Andy was easy to contact for the initial estimate, and provided a price combined with excellent Angie's List reviews that couldn't be beat by several other contractors and companies that we contacted.
We had to learn patience with the scheduling of a start date, but once we had our date things progressed smoothly and quickly.
Andy had several helpers at various times, and all the work was completed ahead of schedule and within budget.
Per initial agreement, most installed materials and fixtures were provided by us, and although all debris was removed to the garage, disposal was to be done by us, also.  We broke down the old fixtures and were able to send it out with regular garbage pick-up over a few weeks.
A few issues were encountered during the work, including a last-minute moving of the vanity to accommodate a larger vanity top, and some issues with the tub/shower plumbing.  These were handled by Andy and his crew quickly and easily, at least from our perspective.
Post-work, a couple small issues arose (leaking tub faucet, which was a manufacturer's issue, and some cosmetic issues with silicone caulking).  These issues were fixed relatively quickly by Andy, with no additional charges.
Overall, we're very happy with the bathroom, and the completed work very much met our expectations.
The only real issue we encountered was that, after the initial email contact for an estimate, emails to Andy were often not answered in a timely matter, if at all.  If I offered one piece of constructive criticism to Andy it would be to either prioritize email inquiries so customers don't feel ignored, or hire someone to take care of emails and scheduling.  Phone calls were nearly always answered immediately, or return calls made quickly if no initial answer.  Even texts were responded to or resulted in a call back in a timely fashion.
Given this, make no mistake that Andy provided an excellent remodeling experience and is very highly recommended, and we're sure to use him again for smaller and larger projects as we have need.

This was the 2nd time we had Andy and his team do work for us.  We had them do a major overhaul on the entire main floor of our home.  We had hardwood flooring installed, new baseboards painted and installed, and painting.  Additionally, we had another provider install new kitchen countertops and had Andy do the required plumbing. From beginning to end, Andy and his team were extremely professional.  Their attention to detail is amazing.  They work from the time they arrive until they leave and left the house in livable condition each night.  Everything was finished on time, within budget and looks beautiful!  I have recommended Andy to several neighbors and co-workers and we are planning to use him again next year for the next phase of our home remodeling.

Andy was very responsive from my first inquiry through the completion of the job.  His price was fair and competitive.  It took a little him more time than anticipated because of the plumbing they found when they opened the ceiling, he did not raise his price for the extra time, he honored his estimate, which I found to be rare and very much appreciated!  
Andy and his team arrived on time and were professional throughout.  They are very detail oriented and meticulous. They took the time to make sure all appliances, furniture, cabinets, flooring etc were protected while they worked. Their repair on the ceiling looks amazing! My husband could not believe it! There is not the slightest hint of the old fixture (which was huge, off center and ugly). Their paint job on the ceiling is immaculate, they took the time to do it right!  We were very happy and felt comfortable having Andy and his team in our home.  We are so impressed, that we have already booked him to install wood flooring on the entire first floor and do some additional painting.

Wonderful job from start to finish.  There were no hidden surprises. Would highly recommend Andy.

Andy quoted a very reasonable rate, and completed the work as promised.  The job was very challenging, as the wiring had to go around a number of existing switches & conduit.  Andy also took the little steps that really made a difference, including drop cloths for furniture, and plastic on carpets to prevent dirt.  I would definitely recommend Andy for any home improvement project, and plan to use him in the future.

Since Andy was located near my home and had good ratings on Angie's List, I decided to give him a call. So glad I did!  I just needed a few outlets wired in my unfinished basement.  Andy and his crew did a great job!  He arrived when he said that he would and finished the job in the estimated timeframe.  Very courteous and professional!  He added a breaker to the panel and ran all the lines in conduit.  I won't hesitate to call him again next time I need work done in my home.

All went very well. Andy is not only professional, but a pleasant person as well. His knowledge saved me from hiring both a plumber and carpenter. After reading others comments about Andy I requested an estimate to see if I could have only one person take care of everything. Initially I called 2 plumbers for quotes on that part only, but then noticed from his profile that maybe Andy could handle my plumbing and the other misc. carpentry work I needed done too. So I only asked Andy to come for an in person estimate. When he provided an estimate for both plumbing and carpentry tasks, I thought he was the most reasonable and matched what my family/friends told me it should cost me vs. what the 2 other phone quotes told me. With that said, I hired Andy on the spot for both plumbing and carpentry.

THINGS I LIKED: 
1. Andy showed up on time for both the estimate appt. day and the day of work, which is rare compared to previous experience with others I had previously hired for work at my house.

2. The cost was as estimated (nothing more) and he charged by the job, not by an hourly rate (which can end up costing a fortune if a worker is slow).
 
3. Andy seemed very honest, caring, and wanted to ensure I was happy and approved of his work. A person who really cares about providing good, quality service to their clients.

4. I was injured and awaiting surgery, but wanted to move a few things out of the way for Andy to do his job. Injury wasn't going to stop me, but Andy saw me attempting to do this and was kind enough to offer to help me lift/move a couple items.

5. Prior to leaving, I decided to ask for a quote on a future job as long as Andy was at my house. He gave me a quote and took time to  explain to me what would be involved for the estimate for removing a bathroom vanity and installing the new one. This was very helpful and will be useful info when I start shopping for that project.

I would absolutely hire Andy again. And, I got multiple cards from him so I could give them to friends and family as needed too. Great Guy!

Since I like the sophisticated look of the ceiling crown moldings, I have decided to ask Andy to install the molding in my living , and dining rooms. Andy  has found available time and he came in to my house. Now the crown moldings are installed. It looks absolutely gorgeous The appearance of the rooms has change significantly from plain to graceful, and stylish. Andy has help me to design the molding to best dress the rooms. His work as before was neat and tasteful.As I really pay attention to the details and neatness of work, Andy’s  work was done just perfect. I don’t think anybody would make a better job.Andy has also painted both rooms , so both areas are looking renewed and fresh. Thank you Andy for the great job.

I’ve been putting off this work for nearly two years dreading the interruption, but Andy and team made it virtually painless.  They took great care in moving and replacing furniture and other belongings.  They pay incredible attention to detail.  The new floors look terrific…  they didn’t just paint, but meticulously patched and repaired every problem area before painting.   They proved polite, professional, and extremely patient when I had a “change”…  OK, a couple of changes.  All-in-all, a very good experience!

After giving us an estimate and signing a contract he was ready to go on the day that was scheduled. With our first bathroom the work took a little bit longer because it turned out that we had to change the floor and the walls because they had water damage. After that the installation of the ceramic tiles when smoothly. Upstairs was a complete remodel. There were no suprises and it was done within a week.

We are very satisfied with Andy's work and we would recommend him to anyone that need any work done around the house.
