THEY DO NOT RETURN CALLS for Repairs! I had to leave a message again, they returned my call finally . When they found out it was a repair (on their previous work) and not a new job I never received a call back, this has been going on for three years. I would never recommend this company!

While we were pleased with the garage floor refinishing by Sundek of Illinois, the customer service is terrible and I regret the day I gave a deposit to them. They only take cash or check so that should tell you all you need to know. We initially contacted Sundek of Illinois in May 2015 The owner, Jake Olson, came out to give an estimate on refinishing our garage floor in early June 2015. We signed the contract on June 19, 2015 with an expected completion date of July 2015. At this time we gave Sundek a 50% deposit check of $1,247.50. During July 2015 we started contacting Sundek asking when they expected to perform the work so we could plan accordingly. Despite numerous contacts we were unable to receive a start date, only no responses and excuses; we are really busy, Jake is on vacation, Jake is not around, etc. Once we got to the end of July and had not received a reply or have Jake return our calls, I called the office and said if we did not get a start date immediately I would be contacting our lawyer and go to court for a refund. They quickly responded they had an opening and completed the garage floor on August 6, 2015. In 2019 we needed to have one half of the garage redone and wanted to keep it looking as consistent as possible, so we reluctantly contacted Sundek again. Jake Olson came out and quoted us $1,500 for refinishing one half of the garage floor. We agreed on the price and again Sundek would only take cash or check, so we sent them a check for $750. On July 29, 2019, they came out and refinished the floor. We paid the remainder of the bill the same day. After the floor dried, I found a few small areas that were missed. Again the attempts to get this resolved was met with ignored emails and phone calls, excuses, etc. But as luck would have it I was contacted by Sundek to ask if I would give them a positive online review. When I responded what about fixing the missed areas, they responded that they would be out right away. They ignored my multiple requests until they wanted something from me. I carefully worded my review to give positive comments about the work performed but not the customer service. In May 2020 after the winter season, I noticed a small cracked spot in the newly refinished floor where they did not fill in the depression in the floor. I was concerned that over time it would get worse. I contacted Sundek via email on May 24, asking for Jake to come out and take a look at the spot but did not receive a response. On May 27 I checked the rest of the refinished floor and found 2 additional depressions. While they are small spots, they are problems that need to be corrected. I sent a follow up email on May 27 with additional pictures. Again no response, so I sent a 3rd email on June 15, where Jake finally responded he would stop out on June 18. Jake did show up and tried to downplay the issue, saying if it was his garage he wouldn't do anything. I responded that's because he could always fix it any time he wanted. He then said the issue was too much clear in the depression and that was what was cracked. He proposed fixing it by adding more clear. So the problem was too much clear and his solution was to use more clear? I told Jake my preference was to have his workers grind out the spots, fill in the depressions and refinish them. Jake said he would think about what to do and get back to me. I contacted Sundek on the following dates and never received any response; June 25, July 02, July 07 and July 09. Finally on July 13, I called the office and requested a response by July 14 with a specific date for the repair within 2 weeks. No response was received. At this time I posted an online review of my Sundek of Illinois experience. Jake called me July 15 and angrily stated after my review he would NEVER come back to repair the job. I told him I got tired of contacting him weekly and never getting a response. Jake said he did come out to my house. I replied that was on June 18th when he said he would get back to me and never did in almost 1 month. I also asked him to state anything my review that was incorrect. He did not give any. Jake Olsen posted 6 years ago “he felt bad about some of the past reviews and wish he could correct them”. If he and his office didn't ignore customers they wouldn't have to email and call repeatedly. There are a number of other reviews where they state the same issue of no response, and the positive reviews usually only talk about the quality of his work, not good customer service. Looking back on the experience, when Jake Olson said he only takes cash or check I should have never done business with Sundek of Illinois.

Sundek was great! They were professional, came out to give us a quote and provided samples of their work. The whole process took four days, one full day 10-12 hours of sanding and putting on the microtop, one day for stain/paint, and two separate days for the poly layers. The work looks great and has held up well! I would definitely recommend them and use them again!

Great job. Very detail oriented and great work crew. At one point during the day of the pour, 8 guys here.
They also did a random crack repair on two other concrete slabs, and that work is beyond description for how well they performed!

Project completed approximately end of October of 2013. Approximately one week after this project was completed we noticed a discoloration on the texture paint on the front entrance of the house. I immediately called Jake and he responded that it would be taken care of within a week or so. It is now May 5, 2014 and the problem is still not resolved. We now have found paint peeling where cuts were made in the cement to give it a slate look. There is also cracks in the caulking that was applied in different areas. Three calls have been made to Jake at Sundek with no response. The experience of having this done was great till the payment was made. At this point I would not recommend Sundek only due to the lack of follow up on items that have not been corrected by Jake.

The price was within our budget and whatever it was at that time as we wanted to fix the floor. The quality was fine. They came back and did it again as there was a crack in the first year and then no problem at all. It is a very good company. They were responsive, and when we had a problem they came over and fixed it right away. They were great, patient and did a great job. They were always professional.

They did very well. They were very professional and I loved the job. I actually hired them again for another job as well. Their professionalism was outstanding and the quality of work was extremely high. I would recommend them and I also wouldn't mind using them again in the future.

We remodeled our kitchen and adjacent family room and decided to remove the linoleum and use the concrete slab for flooring. It was difficult to find providers in the area who have a lot of experience in this. When Chris came out to give estimate, he was very professional, punctual, and seemed quite knowledgeable. We went the and quot;save moneyand quot; route and chose another company with a lesser bid. Needless to say, the process with other company was VERY messy, with dust infiltrating all closets and bedrooms despite taping area off with tape. Also, the final product and response from alternate company when we expressed concern about it was unacceptable.

We called Sundek back in to redo the floors. Chris came out promptly at end of week and arrangements were made to come out and redo the floors the following Mon.! The crew was professional, clean, and efficient. The final color was made in a small area on the floor right before my eyes and I was able to tweak it right on the spot! Also, his crew used special machines which minimized the dust. They also took special care to make sure the area was sufficiently quarantined by plastic.

The floor turned out perfect, exactly as we imagined it.
So far, floor seems very resilient, very easy to clean muddy paw prints and debris.
We are very happy with the way things turned out.

They were prompt and provided great documentation before I made a decision. The team arrived on time and completed the work quickly. Their was some barely noticeable damage done to the grass, but they repaired it and showed me afterwards.

We weren't Angie's List subscribers at the time we decided to get this service, so we called Sundek and asked for references. We drove to and viewed about 6 of their finished projects. We sat down with Chris Mayer to present our own plans and discuss our options. It took a few meetings, some digital photos of our house with the proposed designs, and some emailing, but the end product was one that pleased us and could be done by Sundek. We have an 80'x10' foot driveway and about a 1,000 square foot patio. Add an apron, back stoop, and one porch (with stairs) to this footage and it's a pretty big area to resurface. We decided to use more than one of Sundek's patterns so that there would be some visual interest on the driveway as well as the porches. Seeing the transformation from an all-concrete vanilla driveway and patio to a colorful patterned scene was a rewarding experience. It's obvious from the results of this project that Sundek's team of magicians knows what they're doing and how to do it well. They appeared each day on time and prepared to work hard. They were very tolerant of our questions and didn't mind the progressive photos we took to document the process. Their work was professional and was done with respect for our property and convenience. We're still very pleased with the results 6 months later, having experienced daily the pleasant appearance of the surface and the ease with which we can keep it clean. Stains easily wash off with water. We no longer have problems with tire marks on the concrete from our pickup truck, and we've found that snow and ice melt off faster because of the dark color and smoother surface. Although smooth in appearance, the surface is not slick or slippery in rain or snow. Concrete being what it is, we found a few small cracks in the new surface where old cracks were repaired, but they are minor and do not affect the overall appearance or integrity of the finish.

We had Sundek of Illinois do two installations for us in 1998. First we had the area around our pool done and we were so happy with the results that we had a basketball court area also done. We had both surfaces power washed from time to time as they recommended. The first few years the results looked wonderful. But after about 6-7 years were began to notice the area around the basketball court was beginning to slowly deteriorate at a rather alarming rate. Since the area around the pool seemed to be holding up better, we chose to hold off repairing the basketball area until the pool area need work. In the spring of 2009 we decided to have the areas repaired. We called Sundek and after 3 calls to there office, they finally called back, made an appointment to come to our property. Upon inspection of the basketball court they told us that the basecoat had deteriorated and that the entire surface would have to be removed and redone from scratch. The representative told us that they now use a different process that holds up better. Once we got the estimate, we were shocked at the price ($8995.00)—more that it cost to install the product originally and for a product that had only a 7 year life expectancy. So we called Sundek of Illinois several times and they never returned our call. We felt that for the price of the product that it should have held up much better. So we called the national corporation and after several left messages that were never returned, we got a hold of a customer service agent who said she would “mediate” the discussions with the Sundek people. I called the customer service agent on 3 more occasions over 4 weeks and she was not able to ever get anyone to call us. The product looked terrific for about 7 years then it deteriorates rapidly. With absolutely no customer service and a dealer who has no regard for old customers it is our recommendation to keep far away from this dealer and this product. We have found a few other companies that do this exact type of work and we would strongly encourage everyone to look into other decorative concrete companies.

After two winters (1.5 years), we're very pleased with the result with one exception. In the largest slab of new concrete a crack appeared after the first winter. In the summer they patched the crack with a surface filler for no charge and the repair stayed intact through this winter. The person that came to inspect the crack said he was surprised and thought he had designed it correctly. He mentioned that it almost never happens. Still, I'd use them again.

Sundeck seems to be the only ones who do this kind of work. The work that they produce was just excellent and I am pleased. The charge was decided base don the square footage of the job. Everything turned out very good and I would definitely say that they were excellent and professional. I am very pleased.
