"Thanks so much!"
"We had told the homeowner the floor was water damaged and needed to be replaced, since the homeowner ignored this recomendation we installed the base under those conditions! We did shim the base and definately did not do any damage to the base or drain., this is a total fabrication from said homeowner. We did have to come back multiple times to satisfy the owner , but there was absolutely no metion to him of being persickity. Again another fabrication. In the end we showed the owner the base was level, and the job was done corectly. He even called us back later to see if we would continue work on the rest of the bathroom. STRANGE!!!"
I never received an invoice for the work that was done (late March).
Finally, I was delivered an invoice that arrived at my mailbox in late May. We were set to pay in this month (June), when a person showed up at our door while my wife was home, demanding payment.
My wife informed me that the person did not wish to leave until she was paid, and my wife paid her by debit card.
My wife felt that the employee was rude and unprofessional, stating that they had attempted to contact me multiple times by phone (verifying phone records from work and home revealed no calls from the R&S number or any other affliliated phone number), and effectively calling my wife a liar for saying that I must not have received these phone calls.
As such, I contacted R&S privately by email explaining that I had not received their phone calls, and that I wished for an apology for my wife.
I was then called at work by my cell by the very same person who had treated my wife unprofessionally. She called, wishing to speak with my wife, at which I informed her that she was calling me at work. Instead of receiving an apology, I was told that my wife was a liar and that she did not say any of the things that she had said to my wife. She then listed off the number that she tried calling, which was an area code and phone number that I have never been associated with. She then wondered why I didn't bother calling them when I had received the bill a mere couple of weeks ago, saying she "doesn't have a crystal ball".
At this point, I told her she was being unprofessional and rude to me, and that she had already received our payment, and to leave us alone, and that I would be posting this review. I am still amazed that even after being told that I was at work, that she felt the need to be right at all costs. I will never recommend R&S to any of my local friends, as well as inform others who are looking for a plumbing service to stay away.
This was all the result of an an obvious misunderstanding, as I've had 2 contractors come to work on our house (an HVAC consultant, and a pest control expert).
Both were paid in full at time of services, so to be treated like a non-payer when I pay all of my bills, even after explaining the situation and after payment is shocking.
The services performed were adequate, but the resulting customer experience around collection of payment is awful.
"The work was performed March 28. The original invoice mailed on March 31 was sent to the wrong [Member Information Removed], returned to us and immediately turned around and resent on April 13 with a written apology for the delay. We allowed another 30+ days and heard nothing from the customer. On May 25th another statement was sent asking them to contact us. A voicemail message was also left. It is now June and we still have not heard from the customer. On June 14th, I went to the home to collect on this overdue invoice. Mrs [Member Name Removed] apologized for the account past due, [Member Information Removed] she knew nothing about it and asked me if I would like payment now and would I take a check? I said that would be great. She went back into her home for about 10 mins and returned [Member Information Removed] she could not find the checkbook, would I take a debit card? I said sure no problem. I never called her any names, was not rude or refused to leave. It was just "matter of fact". A few hours later, I received a scathing email from Mr. [Member Name Removed] [Member Information Removed] untruth's and asking for an apology. To avoid any reply getting lost in translation, I chose to call him rather than respond thru an email. I told him that if his wife thought I was rude, I do apologize, but there was no name calling or refusal to leave. Nothing I said was going to make him happy and just snowballed into a bantering back and forth. We do not enjoy having to go out in person to collect on past due invoices."
"All though we appreciate good reviews, this is not are company that preformed this service! You must have us confused with another co. Please advise A.L. of this notice. Thank you. R & S PLUMBING."
I had a leak from my upstairs bathroom into my kitchen that was intermittent - weeks would go by with no problem, then a little leak through the can light over my sink in my kitchen, and then occasional water pouring through the can light. I called R & S and Jim was convinced that since it didn't reliably leak when I filled the tub with water "it couldn't be plumbing". Still having problems a few weeks later, we had our toilet shift a little and water poured through when the toilet was flushed.
Jim agreed _that_ was plumbing, came out, and said the toilet didn't even have the wax ring and installed a new one (more on that later) and some heavy duty bolts. He also commented on how cheap the toilet was. I tried to get him to help me troubleshoot the leak problem since he was already there, but he was totally not interested in doing so (and of course the intermittent leak didn't cooperate). He was adamant that it was either the toilet (which was NOT flushed during any of the episodes, not that he cared) or a tub surround issue, or water splashing out of the tub (despite the volumes which were considerable at times), or, well, really anything that wasn't plumbing.
Working with a different company, the problem ultimately turned out to be a combination of: cracked tub, cracked flange on the tub drain, and multiple cracked cast iron hubs in the soil pipe that the tub drains ran into. Hmm... by my count, 2 of 3 of those are indisputably plumbing. Oh, and within a day of him leaving I flushed the toilet again and had the big leak problem again from that - diagnosed by the other company as a case of him putting the wrong size of wax ring on the toilet. I didn't even bother calling him back on the toilet - at that point I knew I was going to be working with somebody else anyway on the leak and didn't feel like putting up with more attitude.
So here is a plumber who does a poor job at the work he is willing to do on the toilet and is unwilling to help troubleshoot a leak. Just to add to this, he had been out a few months previously for a crack in a different section of the soil pipe and when I asked if there was any reason to believe there might be problems elsewhere he was pretty dismissive.
I won't say R&S can't do at least acceptable work on some things, but no way no how would I use them again or recommend them. They could have had what turned into a $3500 plumbing repair job and instead threw away both that business and any future business from me.
"The customer about a leak in the ceiling. After filling the tub to the overflow we could not find any leaking what so ever. After checking the toilet we found it to be loose and leaked profusely when flushed. We resealed the toilet with a jumbo wax ring and heavy duty bolts. This is the best way to reseal a toilet. After having the customer flush the toilet several times, we found no source of water leaking. Since all are work is guaranteed there was no reason not to call us back to inspect the problem and make the further repairs instead of complaining and trying to grind some kind of ax!! Plumbing is not always cut and dry, and when we leave we make sure the problem is solved. When we left there was no leak! We can't help people who refuse to ask. We're sorry the customer felt they had to slam us for something that was clearly not our fault. Sincerely, Jim, president R&S Plumbing."
