To start off, I am not including cost of service because this is a negotiated contract specific for our association. I sit on the board of my HOA. After a preliminary review of most PMC in the Chicago area, we narrowed down a list to five companies that we sought proposals from and interviewed, finally making a choice after a 4-5 month search and several false-starts in previous year. We chose PSI because we were looking for a firm that could provide a breadth of services, and bring our association into a more modern age. We have been using them for the past year and I would say so far we are happy with them. Our PMs has been responsive to our requests, and knowledgeable. It may be just a 'piece of paper' but it does give me a bit of comfort that they've gained various industry certifications, at at least I know they've been trained on the knowledge of their profession. They're also very automated, provided us with a website for our unit owners to access documents and pay bills. And best of all, they were a local Chicago company. At this point in time I am reviewing them positively, and if you are looking to change your PM then I would suggest getting a proposal from them to hear them out.
