When the set was picked up around Dec 5 I was quoted $1550.  I  was stunned but agreed and told them that there was no rush because they were backlogged and I wasn't entertaining for the holidays this year.  On January 9 I went into the shop to approve the finish on one drawer.  The owner told me that the rest of the set needed additional sanding before they could complete the process.  Within a couple days I received a call that the additional work would cost me $200 more.  I was shocked and displeased  but agreed because, after all, they had my furniture.  Upon further consideration I explained that I was not pleased with the extra expense.  I was then told that the original $1550 was a "guestimate" to which I responded that I had a written quote and would they reconsider.  The answer was "no".

*  When I was in the shop with the OWNER and the extra work was brought up there was no mention at all of extra expense.

*  At the bottom of the quote is the statement...
    Any changes and/or additions to the work described are subject to additional charges.
    Because the original finish was bleached mahogany, I was told at the beginning that it would be time-consuming.
    I feel, however, that because they were aware of this and because they are professionals with many years in the business,    
    the effort should have been included in the original quote.  (By the way, when I was told about the extra expense, no reference
    was made to this reference.)
Although their reputation for excellent work is well-deserved, I am extremely displeased with their manner of doing business.
