Response from Forest City Paving
"[member name removed], I looked through the records of my father's old company (closed in 2013) and found that he sold you a 2 inch tear out and replace (using your existing base) back in 2010. Since he did not remove your old stone base and install a new 8-10 inch base (much more expensive job) your warranty would have been one year (standard asphalt warranty) which would have expired in 2011. With that said, in our climate, most driveways will develop small cracks after a winter or two (freeze and thaw). I highly recommend that a maintenance program is started the year after paving (including crack filling and seal coating) to keep water from entering the ground below the asphalt. This will help the cracks from spreading during the next freeze/thaw cycle."

They communicated with me and explained to me the process they use in order to finish the driveway. I know that some other review was upset because they seem to be in a big hurry but I knew it would be a few weeks before the driveway was done due to the process. They went out of their way to make the driveway look fantastic compared to what was there before. The price was much cheaper than you can find with other companies. I was totally satisfied. My dad had used them for his driveway and that is how I heard about them.

Owner gave me quote and was very prompt and courteous. We went over details, I showed him a problem area that always puddles up next to garage. Also asked if he would scoop out some sod at end of my culvert. Job was started about three weeks later. Old asphalt was dug out and removed, excess sod was also dug out at end of culvert. Road gravel was poured, leveled and compacted. Was told this gravel needed to stand to harden 2-6 weeks? Well 9 days later (?) they came to pave driveway, I again mentioned the problem spot and few hours later job completed and it looked awesome. Being a very dry summer it didn't rain for a good three weeks. Puddle was still there and now creeping into the garage. They did a lousy job of leveling this driveway and did not address my problem. The solution they provided was to heat up asphalt and pound a trench across driveway leading from low area to grass in front yard. Very noticeable and unattractive. This trench method used works only for light to medium rains. Hard heavy rains still creep into garage. I called company a while later to let them know and was told owner would call me back, never got that return call.

They completely torn out our old asphalt driveway - a very long and winding drive with a good sized hill. They then laid down gravel base, compacted it and let it set for several weeks - we had scheduling requests, so actually let it set a couple months, which was fine. Gravel was perfectly level and easy to drive on. Whenever I had a question, or made a call and left a message, calls were promptly returned and all questions answered. Had multiple contact numbers, including their cells. Very professional and courteous. They asked repeatedly if everything was okay, and I was told to contact them again if anything was wrong or in question. Paid 1/3 when old drive was torn out and gravel base put in, and balance upon completion. I gave them an "A" for quality, but am also stating that this was only done a couple weeks ago, and hasn't stood the test of time or great usage as of yet. It looks beautiful right now, and am hoping it will remain that way. Tearing out and gravel was only one day. Paving was only one morning. Very quick and well-organized. Left a small pile of hot mix in trees that needs to be taken away, but am betting as soon as I call, it will be taken care of. If not....I will make an addendum to this review! We have a long, windy and hilly driveway. Price might sound high - but - all other quotes we got from area companies were about 25-30% higher, and all details of what they would do, including thickness of pave, etc., were equal. Highly recommend.

Overall my experience with them was pretty good. They were flexible and okay. One of the drivers actually scratched my roof. He was kind of careless. The driveway itself was fine.

I was referred by a tree cutting service to Budget Blacktop. They were very nice to work with and did a great job. I expected it would have cost more as we have a long driveway.

I did that above, mostly.
Budget was referred to me by a sealing company. I called, the owner came and gave me an estimate. We scheduled the work and it was done on time and at the agreed upon price. All mess was cleaned up. All workers were very friendly and when I asked on "care" instructions I was given a time table for care. This company has been in business for a long time and that experience showed.

It went well but keep in-mind that this is a long process as it took about 5-6 weeks from start to finish. The weather was a major factor in the delay. The company put down new gravel and rolled and then the driveway sat for about 4-5 weeks where they did a final prep. The final prep includes more gravel and rolling before the driveway is completed. This is to ensure you don't get this sink holes and cracking. It's worth the wait if this comes true. I have seen many other driveways in the area done by Budget and they all look very good.
The owner and son were very nice and kept me in the loop on the progress as my wife kept asking me when is this going to be done? Well, since the driveway is now complete she understands the wait was worth it.

It went very well. I was referred to this company by a seal coat company that I had contacted to do repair work and seal coating. It was determined that the repairs would be extensive and probably be repeating in the future. I called Budget Blacktop and the owner was out the next day. I got an on the spot estimate of the cost. Shortly thereafter they return to do the removal of the old drive and lay down the new subsurface. Then when it was the right time they returned with a 5 man crew to efficiently lay down the new asphalt. They answered all of my questions and responded to all of my requests. The owner of the company did not ask for any money up front - I paid him when the job was completed to my satisfaction. It was a very good experience. All the workers were very knowledgeable regarding their particular job.
