After a tornado came thru the neighborhood, I contacted Bufalo for a quote which led to contracting with them. The rep, Brandi, was a joy to work with and I got on the docket asap... my new roofs, gutters and downspouts are wonderful. I was a newbie with insurance and Brandi walked me through, and completely communicated what, where when and why. I feel lucky I got her! They did a great job and will use them for any foreseeable job!

Damon from Bufalo Contracting supervised work on my roof and gutters; my roof looks amazing!!! He did an excellent job dealing with an insurance company - three times on the roof, yes three times on three different days. I can describe him as a very professional and responsive. Damon was very helpful, eg. suggesting to replace some plywood, improved a ventilation system and suggested even the best color of my roof. GREAT JOB/SUPERVISING. I recommend him and a company to every body. THANK YOU !!!!

We are very happy with our new roof! Chip walked with us all through the process and made it so easy! They finished in one day, showed up when they said they would and left the area spotless.

We are so happy with our new roof & gutters & downspout & gutter covers. Rich our contractor did such an excellent job sending out a crew that got our roofs on in one day. We had our house & shed & play house done. Very nice and polite crew. We had a grey roof before but with the help of Rich saying that the brown would be a good match to our bread basket paint on the house we did the brown and it looks really great. Our neighbors have said that it looks really good. When I pull into the driveway my house looks larger now. Thank you Rich and your team for making this picky lady happy. Great job !

(20 Buildings) New shingles are OK but when they removed the old shingles they failed to inspect the OSB roof sheathing. The sheathing is warped and shows big dips in the finished product. They failed to have the proper supervision during the job. Now they wash their hands of their mistake.

At first it started off a little rough due a unforeseen event; however after that was resolved, the project moved along nicely. The materials arrived as scheduled, but the day of the build, it rained. We had been told upfront that if it rained on our build day we could expect a delay of up to a week. The very next day was clear and sunny, we didn't expect it, but the roofing crew showed up and started the project. The crew was very professional. The day turned out to be extremely hot, mid to upper 90's, the crew only took one break that I noticed, and that was for lunch. Even on this very hot day, they worked straight through and completed the project. I think they arrived around 7:30am and they were finished around 2:30 or 3:00. It took another 30 to 45 minutes to cleanup. After cleanup you would have never known they were there, except for the new roof they installed...Great Job!

That was a rather major event. It stretched out for a while until everything was done.

Of the six contractors that I contacted, Bufalo was the only one to return my call promptly. They were the best of the two estimates I received. Because of poor weather the work was somewhat delayed (but that's not their fault at all), but as a result, they needed to switch the crew, which also wasn't a problem. The work was done well, they cleaned up the site, and they were very professional. I will definitely be calling them when we need a new roof.

Everything went just fine. Joe was great. Had a leak in the roof and had them come out for an estimate do to a recommendation from a family member. Thought damage was due to storm damage and Joe confirmed that was it. He and his crew had the entire roof put on in a few hours and it looks great. Did an excellent job. Would definitely recommend.

Everything went smooth and fast. We now have a beautiful new roof! The crew was fast and cleaned up all of the debris as it was coming off. There was no mess at all! We're very happy with Bufalo and will recommend their services to friends and family.

The entire job was completed within 3 days. The roof was tore off and the new one put on in about 8 hours. The gutters and fascia were done two days after the roof was completed.

We were fully expecting to have to repair/replace the roof.  He got on the roof and even "sealed" so things.  When he came down he told us the problem was cause by "Ice Dams" and our roof was just fine.  He wouldn't take any money from us.  I joined Angie's list just so I could give them a great review.  He was very honest as it was obvious I was expecting to pay big $.

Researched local contractors by preference rather than out of town providers.  Met with contractor and insurance estimator at my home.   Determined extent of damage and set up consequent schedule.  In all fairness, the local area storm damage was widespread and there were a good number of contractors in the area.  Setting the schedule was somewhat difficult and the contractor and subs did keep us informed regarding when they would be here.  The overall work was performed well and the clean up was very satisfactory.  The contractor worked very well within the amount of the insurance estimate.  The date of last contact reflected when final payment was made.

Bufalo representative Sean Asprooth inspected our aging shingled, sloped roof area late last fall and provided an estimate for tearing off four layers of old shingles, replacing any damaged roof decking if needed, installing new felt and architectural grade shingles, and reinstalling the drip edge and gutters so that the water runoff properly flowed into the gutters rather than down the wall as had previously been occurring.  We approved the work too late to begin in 2013 due to the early winter and we waited for spring.  The Bufalo crew did the work on 4/16/2014 when the weather finally warmed up some and the work was completed before 10am the same day.  The crew took extra care in clean up.  All debris and excess material were removed.

Bufalo included a 5% Angie's List discount off the cost for this job.  We were fully satisfied with the work and I later contracted with Bufalo again personally for a roof replacement on my own home in Rockford (that review also just submitted).

Bufalo Contracting representative Sean Asprooth reviewed the initial repair estimate provided earlier by our Hanover Insurance adjuster.  Sean identified a couple areas including ice and water shield coverage which would not have met local code requirements and agreed to negotiate with the insurance company for the required additions and then complete the repairs at the adjusted total negotiated with Hanover. Our net out of pocket would be limited to our $500 insurance deductible.  Sean helped us pick out architectural grade shingles in a color and style that would complement the appearance of our house.  We asked about and Sean recommended replacing our individual metal roof vents with continuous ridge vents and agreed to do so without additional cost to us or the insurance company.  We agreed and contracted with them to complete the work.  Material for the repair was dropped off at the designated location beside our garage a few days before the work was scheduled.  The roofing crew arrived about 7am May 28th and gave us time to get our cars out of the garage for our convenience and then backed a trailer up under the garage roof overhang to catch the debris.  They also placed tarps all around the house to catch falling debris and protect our shrubs and flowers.  The crew tossed most of the debris directly into the trailer but what missed or fell off the roof was caught on the tarps.  At the peak they had 5 to 6 guys working at one time on the roof plus one on the ground picking up debris.  The tear off was completed by 10am.  The total work including replacing roof decking where the old roof vents had been, cutting back the ridge for the continuous roof vents, laying the ice & water shield and roof felt and installing the new shingles plus full cleanup was completed before 4pm all the same day.  Sean picked up some left over material a few days later.

We are completely satisfied and pleased with the roofing work Bufalo did for us and with our interactions with Sean Asprooth as well as the Bufalo roofing crew.

Bufalo has also been amazingly patient waiting for payments to come through our mortgage servicer, Loan Care, plus the final insurance payment from Hanover.  Just to clarify, we had received an initial check from Hanover for the roof repairs less our deductible and a recoverable depreciation hold back the day the adjuster inspected our roof damage.  That check had to be signed over and mailed to our mortgage servicer Loan Care.  Loan Care then required additional claim forms to be submitted by Fax twice and then they took their own sweet time to issue a check to Bufalo for the first half on June 18th fully 3 weeks after Bufalo completed the work.  Loan Care held the remaining half until their own inspector checked the work.  Their final check wasn't issued until July 24th. We've just received the final check from Hanover for the depreciation hold back including the negotiated add-ons as of today, Sept 22 2014.

Overall, I was pleased with their work. The salesman/coordinator Jeff was great. Very personable, responsive. Always called when he was coming to the job site. Always called when he was going to be delayed. He's a very good communicator. He did a great job as liaison between State Farm and me. Pros of Bufalo in my experience: the end result of the job was highly satisfactory. Once they arrived on the job site the work went very quickly and smoothly. They kept the job site clean, the roof looks great. The new flashing around the chimneys looks great. They made the financial arrangements with Alpine bank go very smoothly (we had a mortgage). The contract was very easy to understand, including our responsibility, and the cost for add-ons not covered by State Farm. Cons: The delay between signing the contract and beginning the project was about 3 months. Bufalo had many hail-damage jobs on their docket, so it took longer to get started than I had expected. The one craftsmanship issue I had was related to the tear-off of the existing roof. A substantial amount of debris had fallen through the gaps in the roof boards and had covered items in the attic. Bufalo adequately cleaned the attic floor and did their best to remove the debris from the items in the attic, but it would have been better to foresee this issue and cover everything in the attic with plastic sheeting.
Bufalo is a general contractor, and as such, hires subcontractors to do the work. I can only speak to the crews that performed our work, but I was generally satisfied. I would recommend them to at least bid on another project.
