JK Goldberg Construction

We hired JK Goldberg to complete the gut rehab of our home as a part of the FHA 203k process. We recently terminated them for several reasons: 1. Lack of professionalism. They did not complete work per specification and approved submittals. They ordered the wrong windows and proceeded to install them throughout the house despite notification from the owner and architect that the windows were the wrong ones. Similarly, they installed the wrong color roof shingles and threatened to leave our roof uncovered with rain in the forecast if we didn't allow them to install the shingles that were on-site, which were the wrong product. 2. Slow progress. They did not complete the work in a timely fashion and were not on-site when they said they would be. We fired them because we were beginning to incur liquidated damages due to their delays. 3. Bad workmanship and lack of supervision. One of the reasons for their slow progress was that their laborers and subcontractors were generally unsupervised and did not read the drawings. Framing was particularly problematic. This caused a lot of rework, and thus very slow progress. Several of their construction methods were not up to proper building code and will need to be corrected. Goldberg is now trying to extort more money from us and has significantly delayed the completion of our home.
