Overall the quality seems quite high. My only quibbles are that the employee didn't or did show up when expected but this was only a few times. He also shouted on his cell phone quite a bit, which bothered me since I work at home. But the employee was well mannered and worked hard.
I would use Karl again.
We bought a 90-year-old house that hadn't been modernized in decades, and Karl worked with us to install ceiling lights, outlets, electrical panel, and to bring electric up to code; demo walls and reconfigure doors, closets and hallways; put in new kitchen, powder room and master bath; and refinish wood floors. This was a major job, with kitchen, bath and old power room stripped to the studs.
Karl helped us find an architect to develop plans and then brought in crews of subcontractors for demolition, electrical, plumbing, drywalling, plastering, countertops, cabinetry, etc.
Here's why we chose Dynamic Remodel Solutions and why I'm so happy with the company and Karl:
- He clearly knows what he's doing and capably handled every aspect of the job.
- Karl has a vast network of subcontractors, so he can bring in teams to perform specialized services at great prices.
- He managed schedules and kept us apprised of timetable
- His bid for the job was extremely detailed with line-by-line breakdowns for every aspect of the project.
- He provided us with a realistic timeframe and stuck relatively close to it for the duration of the project.
- He checked in with me in person almost every day to discuss what had taken place, how it went, what steps were coming next, and what he needed from me and when (buying a sink, picking out cabinets, delivery of appliances, buying tile).
- When he purchased items for the job that were included in his bid, like shower door glass, doors and doorknobs, trim, etc., it was consistently high quality materials, not the cheap stuff.
- His bid included granite countertops, which we selected, that are gorgeous, high quality slabs that would have cost me at least two or three times as much if I had gone and bought it myself
- When we called or texted Karl with questions, he was consistently responsive, getting back to us that same day.
- He oversaw city permits and inspections
- Bottom line: great quality of work, outstanding communication, great value = very happy.
Karl warned us that the glass door had a chance of becoming uneven with the frame as it settled, and to call him if we had any issues. After about 6 months our door started to rub against the frame and we gave him a call. He immediately responded to our call and worked around our schedule to come out and check out the door. On the date of our appointment he showed up on time and was able to fix our door at no additional charge. We still highly recommend using Dynamic Remodel Solutions; the work done was great and the support we have received after the fact has also been great.

We had gotten bids from a few other contractors, and Karl was able to come into a price that was in the middle that I was comfortable with. I felt he was very clear at explaining the work he would do during the estimate process, which is why I ultimately decided to go with his company.
While we had issues sometimes connecting with Karl at first, he was able to fit our job quickly in between his other scheduled jobs, and while he was working on our bathroom he was completely responsive when we contacted him.
When I didn't think I'd be able to pick up the tile in the suburbs in time before the job was scheduled to start, Karl was nice enough to go for us to get it and even drop off a sample for us to check.
As a new home owner, this is the first contractor I have hired that wasn't referred to me and I was completely impressed with their punctuality. They always showed up right on time, and they finished the work right in the estimated number of days.
We're very happy with our nice new completed shower, and we would definitely hire Karl in the future.
Karl did a fine job in the initial consultation. He listened attentively, discussed problem areas, and offered alternative design ideas that we hadn?t originally considered. We chose Karl and Dynamic Remodeling Solutions based on the combination of pricing and overall knowledge level. His price wasn?t the lowest, but it wasn?t materially different from the cheapest and his initial consultation gave us more of a comfort level. The two projects were priced separately and the downstairs project was to be completed first.
After making some last minute changes towards the scope of the work and the wording of the contract we were set to start. The first project went off without a hitch. Within a week we had a new powder room and hardwood flooring throughout the foyer. The work was top notch and everything was completed to specifications. If there was a problem area it was the amount of dust created from the removal of the old ceramic tile. DRS did its best to contain it, but ceramic dust can find a way around most any protection.
The second project came several weeks later since we were indecisive over choosing the design elements and finishes. Karl was understanding and waited patiently. Prior to starting we discussed the demolition and dust containment issues. I was quite pleased to see the set-up this time. Doors were taped shut, the carpets and all walk areas were covered, and a special plastic-encased area was built for tool storage.
Again, the finished product was very well done, quite stylish and modern. There was a mishap during demolition causing water to leak through to the kitchen, but this was remedied to our satisfaction. In summary, I would definitely hire Karl again and I believe he deserves your consideration for a remodeling project. I can?t say my experience was completely ideal, but Karl gets it. He understands a contented client is good for business and he puts in very effort to make things right.
His crew was extremely polite and they took care to seal off the construction area from the rest of the house. At the end of each day, the area was cleaned with no debris or tools laying around.
At the end of the poject, he performed all painting, trim and repair work to the extent that there was no touch-up or minor fixes required at all.
A few days after the end of the project, we thought there was a problem with the tub, and Karl came out and was ready to back us up if the plumbing company tried to push back and claim no fault with plumbing. He watched the plumber check the pipes, and it turned out to be just a rodding job to fix the problem.
This company has several good things goping for it. Karl is organized, responsive, easy to talk to, and never blows his cool. His crew is very skilled and each seems to have a different spcialty, so they can handle a wide variety of tasks. They can put in the little extras, such as recessed alcoves in the shower tiling for shampoo and soap, and conveniently locate outlets where we need them. However, they are also professional and will not cut corners, nor attempt to do things against code.
"When I showed up for work the first day I was told by this customer that she is an early riser and she gets up at 6am. So I told her I should be there around 6.30 so I could get a head start on bringing up the tools since she lives on the 3rd floor. everything I did with her bathrooms I asked her and explained how the process is going to be. With the rosettes not being symmetrical is that at the last minute she asked me to do a boarder around the bathroom with two different tiles, and I didn't charge her any extra for that work. With the dryer vent, was just ridiculous she emailed me that I have no knowledge of dryer vents and putting two little screws in the vents will build up the vent with lint and then cause a fire, when she purchased a multi-opening vent cover on the out side which will be the area that all the vent lint is going to trap itself. When we started she wanted to have this done as cheaply as possible, so I told her and we agreed that she would do the demo work and the garbage will be taken out by her. Well demo work wasn't done on time my workers finished her demo work for her and for the garbage I asked her multiple times if she wants us to carry them out for her at no charge, but she refused it. All the tile work has been done professionally and I don't know what she is talking about the pitch in the shower pan. All my pans have very small pitches due to slipping in the shower, and the dirty tiles that she has a problem with is the fact that she demoed the tile that was in the kitchen. As a result of that she left the floor boards dirty with probably 40 year old adhesive and even though I tried to cover the floor and explain this to her she still didn't understand that walking on the boards and then on new white tiles will leave a dirty residue even though the tiles and grout are sealed. I tried to explain to her that I put in a lot of hours in to her project but every time I told her what needs to be done she just told me to do it on or under the budget. I asked her if she wanted the walls straightened out but she told me not to touch them because she likes the look and character of the plaster. The electrical problem was the old panel. The fuse went out and due to the fact that she freaked out my worker tried to fix the problem from the neighbors because the plumbers that she hired before me clogged the neighbors tub. When I showed up I went down stairs and fixed the fuse. At the time I tried to explain to her that this is not our problem because when my worker checked the wiring in the neighbors everything was fine. At that point I tried to explain to her is that it might be something that we haven't touched. Every day I asked her if everything is fine and fixed everything promptly. My final thought is that she is a good person and liked working for her but at the end she came to me and said I charged her too much and she is not going to pay the last payment. (even though she signed the contract and agreed) This customer is very DIY and lives by the things she reads on the internet. My only rule in this business is never leave a customer unsatisfied with my work and in this case it wasn't a problem until the last payment."
"chris was a very nice customer to work for. he knew what he wanted and had all of the materials ready. so all i had to do is come in and install everything he had. no problems with decisions. he just called me this week to do the tub surround. very nice of him."
"you could not have nicer customers. everyday was a joy coming to there home and working. they greeted you with a smile and you left the home with a hug. just great! and was a pleasure of making there home a better home to enjoy."
"wow! talk about a mini remodel but the end result was great. very good choices on the tile and what needed to be done to the bathroom to update it. i and the customer chose what needed to be done and what didnt. and she had made very good choices for what has become of the bathroom. very nice customer to work for."
"very nice customer to work for. im returning to the home to install his backsplash."
